The movie features Black as Brother Ignacio, a monk who cooks at the poor children's orphanage and monastery where he was raised. He has always dreamed of being a wrestler, but is unable to pursue it due to his monastery considering it a sin. He also lacks the funds to make better meals for the orphans than slop.

After Ignacio discovers an opportunity for new wrestlers to compete for a cash prize and gets mugged by a skinny street thief named Steven, he decides he's had enough. Teaming up with Steven (who goes by the ring name of "Esqueleto"Skeleton), he becomes a wrestler, assuming the SecretIdentity of the MaskedLuchador "Nacho", and fights to gain money to help feed the orphans.

** Transparently Trope when Esqueleto tells Nacho -- a ParentalSubstitute to orphans -- that he hate the orphans of the world. He does it to summon the fight in Nacho when he's ready to give up.

* BlamingTheTools: Subverted; Nacho tells Sister Encarnación that the brothers make him cook all day (and with most of his meals being some form of stew slop paired with donated chips) but they never give him money for fresh ingredients. Nacho is proven right when he starts using his wrestling winnings to buy said ingredients and is able to give the orphans much better meals.
* BrokenPedestal: Nacho has always looked up to Ramses and wanted to be a wrestler like him, even going to him for advice. However, once he and Esqueleto show up at the party, Ramses proves to be a Jerkass by splashing wine on Nacho's shirt. Henceforth, any admiration Nacho had for him goes down the drain.

* ConsolationPrize: Both Nacho and Esqueleto are surprised when after their first failed wrestling match for a prize of 200 pesos the manager comes in with a envelope filled with money, telling them "we all get a piece" regardless. While this is enough for both men at first, since it allows them to achieve higher standards of living and help the orphans, Nacho slowly grows dissatisfied with getting "paid to lose" as their losing streak continues and seeks to win a real victory.

* Jerkass: Ramses suits this very well toward the end of the movie. He's arrogantly dismissive of Nacho when he tries to get his attention for the orphans, he has people praise him as "number one" in preparation to fight Nacho, and he even goes as far as to unmask Ignacio during their final fight.
