A 1940 ScrewballComedy film produced by Creator/LeoMcCarey, directed by Garson Kanin, and starring Creator/IreneDunne and Creator/CaryGrant. It is [[InspiredBy loosely based on]] the NarrativePoem ''Literature/EnochArden'' by Creator/AlfredLordTennyson, but with a GenderFlip and an AdaptationalAlternateEnding.[[note]](In the original, it is the man who returns after being shipwrecked, and when he sees his wife is happily married to someone else, he decides not to reveal himself.)[[/note]] Strangely enough, it opened just a couple of months after another movie based on the same source material, ''Film/TooManyHusbands.''

Ellen Arden (Dunne) has been presumed lost at sea for seven years, so her husband Nick (Grant) has her declared LegallyDead and marries elegant but hard-edged Bianca (Patrick). However, Ellen has actually been shipwrecked on a DesertedIsland all this time -- coincidentally, with handsome Stephen Burkett (Scott). Ellen and Stephen [[ReportsOfMyDeathWereGreatlyExaggerated are rescued and return]] on the very day of Nick and Bianca's wedding--but only ''after'' the ceremony itself. HilarityEnsues.
