* OurZombiesAreDifferent: Nowadays it's quite rare to see a zombie resurected by electricity. The biggest differences are that the Creature doesn't need to eat human flesh (although he uses it in some other ways) and that his mind is adequate. [[spoiler: Not to mention that by the end of the film he regains his human appearence.]]

* JerkassHasAPoint: While Janet is a horrid and conceited woman, her statements about Lisa's behavior do have some weight, in that Lisa's genuinely still not okay and it sometimes causes her to damage the house--in a twisted way, while Lisa's dad is nicer, ''Janet'' is the one who acknowledges Lisa's trauma from watching her mother be violently axe-murdered didn't just vanish. Her insistence that Lisa should be in a mental hospital is really just an excuse to get a "psycho" stepdaughter she doesn't like and finds inconvenient out of the way, but it's true Lisa might benefit from seeing a professional.

** A cop catches Lisa and the Creature standing right by a dead body. Both of them are spattered with blood and Lisa is holding an axe, but the cop simply yells at them for trespassing on an active crime scene and tells them they can't be there.

* CovertPervert: Lisa of all people. When woken up by Taffy, she is embarrassed to find her hand [[CaughtWithYourPantsDown in her pants]], though Taffy assures her that everybody does it that at some point. When the Creature finds a back massager in her closet, Lisa tells him that he probably wouldn't want to touch that. Later, when he uses it to massage her back, she tells him that he can use it somewhere else, implying that she regularly uses it to pleasure herself.

* BaitAndSwitch: At the end of the movie, [[spoiler: the Creature is shown sitting apparently alone on a bench, reading a poem about how much the author wishes the woman he loves were here, as if in mourning for Lisa. Then the camera pans around to the front of the bench, showing that he's actually reading the poem to a resurrected Lisa (she's lying down, so the back of the bench hides her).]]

* ObliviousToLove: Lisa fails to realize the Creature's actually in love with her. She mistakes his tears after their duet for guilt over the murders, and his unhappiness about her plan to have sex with Michael for old-timey prudery instead of jealousy. It takes him [[spoiler: chopping off Michael's penis]] for her to get the picture.

* PoliceAreUseless: Zig-zagged. While the cops do make some good progress, that's mainly because Lisa and the Creature mess up some pretty basic aspects of covering their tracks, and they routinely miss suspicious behavior. Lisa also easily distracts them from interrogating her by claiming Tamara has drugs in her bag (despite there being a very obvious reason for her to lie about this).

* SealedWithAKiss: Intending to lure Doug into the cemetary so she and the Creature can take his hand, Lisa writes a love letter to ask if he likes her before leaving a LipstickMark at the top of the letter.

At first Michael seems like a safe option in contrast to the undead serial killer, but aside from that the Creature acts like a perfect gentleman towards Lisa.
