Then the female lead, who's also a psychiatrist-in-training, walks in and having recognized the killer as [[spoiler:one of her boss's patients, tries to talk him out of it while [[SympathyForTheDevil sympathizing with him]] for his past (she fails and he gets shot to death by aforementioned hero), so supposedly we're meant to see him as a tragic villain after all?]]
