* MissingTrailerScene: One of the trailers for the film shows the briefest glimpse of a sex scene involving Megan Fox's character, which not only isn't to be found in the final film, it isn't even a deleted scene on the DVD.

** Someone proves TooDumbToLive when he tries taunting Jonah about his face only to be KilledMidSentence. Later Jonah admits he's out of wiseass responses for that taunt.

* {{BFG}}: [[ExaggeratedTrope To the point of being a]] WeaponOfMassDestruction. It's a rotary ''bombard cannon'' whose cannonballs are subsequently [[StuffBlowingUp detonated]] by an EnergyBall containing unknown {{Phlebotinum}}. [[BeethovenWasAnAlienSpy Designed by]] EliWhitney, no less. Turnbull tests it on an unsuspecting town.

* GatlingGood: Jonah uses a small, man-portable gatling gun at several points during the movie. Check out the poster.

* ProgressivelyPrettier: We're supposed to believe that people find Jonah ugly, but apparently he's good-looking enough to bed Lilah, the town prostitute (free of charge, that is.) Whereas in the comics, he practically looks like "The Cryptkeeper." In all fairness, the scar IS disfiguring and quite disgusting to look at. The problem is, Hex is played by [[MrFanservice Josh Brolin]]. Also in fairness, it's pretty clear that their relationship was NEVER based on looks (one thing from the comics that they got right).

** Hex aims his gun at a man, but doesn't fire as he's only interest in stealing a dead man's boots. Then someone else fires at Hex and kills the thief instead.

* DeaderThanDead: [[spoiler:TheDragon in the end. Jonah shoves his head into a propeller in revenge for killing Jonah's wife, then ''brings him back to life'' just to obliterate his body in revenge for killing Jonah's son.]]

** During the train hijacking, two of the hijackers are wearing explosives strapped to their vests like suicide bombers, while Turnbull himself is described as ''La Terrorista''.

* ImpossiblyCoolWeapon: Duel wielded crossbows that shot sticks of dynamite! Also the horse mounted [[GatlingGood gatling guns]]!

* NotInThisForYourRevolution: If terrorist Quentin Turnbull hadn't already been Jonah's mortal enemy, Jonah would probably not have been willing to be pressed into service by the U.S. government to stop him.

* SinisterWhistling: In one scene [[TheDragon Burke]] is shown happily whistling "Johnny Comes Marching Home" to himself whilst he sets up the explosives to blow up the train.

* StealthHiBye: Jonah does it to the Union officers while they try talking to the body.

* PrematurelyMarkedGrave: Jonah turns up with the corpses of the four men [[BountyHunter he'd been sent after]], but notices that there are ''five'' newly made coffins waiting. Turns out the sherrif and his men would rather claim the bounty on Jonah rather than pay him. One of the would-be ambushers is actually hiding inside the coffin--needless to say Jonah puts him right back in there.

* YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness: Quentin Turnbull does this to Adleman Lusk. Lusk says that he will hang if Turnbull's scheme fails and [[FalseReassurance Turnbull promises him that he will not hang]] as he shoots him in the back of the head.

Also, they may have misread the title as ''Jonah Sex'', which would explain the Megan Fox subplot. Michael Fassbender and Michael Shannon might have had 5 minutes screen time total between the two of them.
