* CassandraTruth: No one ever believes Andy about Chucky.

* AdultFear: When Mrs. Barkley thinks her son might be a killer and later when she finds out there's a serial killer after him.

* FridgeHorror: At the end of ''Seed'', we're greeted to the fact that [[spoiler: Tiff, who's soul is now in Jennifer Tilly's body lives with the twin children that Jennifer Tilly had before the timeskip. They are Glen and Glenda, the two names she and Chucky had been arguing over for the "Shitface" kid before. However, we only see these two and we never hear about what happened to Shitface. It's then revealed that the boy twin, Glen, speaks with Shitface's voice and has his memories. So essentially, they're saying they ''transferred Shitface's soul into the baby boy.'']]
** Also, [[spoiler:it's possible "Shitface's" soul was split in two and the Glenda half is now in the twin girl's body.]]
* FridgeLogic: Referring to the scythe that cuts off Chucky's face in the third movie. Why would any carnival put something that dangerous in one of their rides?

** As noted in a review of the first film by {{Phelous}} and TheNostalgiaCritic, you can't actually blame Chucky for the death of Maggie the Babysitter. He ''was'' intending to murder her when he hit her in the face with a hammer, but her actual death was more the result of her tripping over while she wildly stumbled backwards, which caused her to fall out the apartment window. In other words, her own ''clumsiness'' is what technically killed her.

* BittersweetEnding: At the end of the original, [[spoiler:Chucky is dead and Andy is saved, but nobody besides Mike, Jack, and the Barclays are going to believe a doll committed the murders.]]

* AssholeVictim: Shelton in the third.

* WhatCouldHaveBeen: Child's Play creator Don Mancini original conception of Child's play was completely different. Originally titled Blood Buddy. The dolls would have synthetic blood and Andy would mix his blood with Buddy's fake blood as part of a blood brother ritual. The doll would come alive as a manifestion of the Andy's ID and kill the people Andy had unexpressed anger toward.

* KickTheDog: Chucky is ChaoticEvil all right, but this gets quite [[{{Flanderization}} flanderized]] throughout the series.

*** Also, the evidence room in ''Bride of Chucky'' contains several pieces of evidence that are shout-outs to other movies, including Jason's hockey mask from ''Film/FridayThe13th'' and Michael Myers' mask from ''{{Halloween}}''; additionaly, in ''Seed of Chucky'', Chucky hacks through a door with an axe exactly like Jack from ''TheShining'', but the shout-out is subverted because he can't think of anything to say.

** Nor has the Good Guy Dolls company ever been mentioned, even though they came back to business. However, some dialogue from ''Bride'' implies they've been shut down again, this time for good.

For his birthday, 6-year-old Andy Barclay (Alex Vincent) gets the "Good Guy" doll he saw advertised on TV. Little did Andy know that the doll, later to be known as Chucky, is actually a Main/SoulJar for the SerialKiller Charles Lee Ray. His babysitter Maggie Peterson (Dinah Manoff) is only the first of several people to die. His mother Karen (Catherine Hicks) has to find what is going on in time to save her son from becoming Charles' next host.

* BitchInSheepsClothing: Chucky, of course, since who would ever suspect a Good Guy doll of actually being alive, let alone a bad guy?

** Even Andy and Tyler, his first two intended SoulJars, think he's a nice guy at first when he reveals to them that he's actually alive.

* HeyItsThatGuy: [[Film/ThePrincessBride Prince Humperdink]] is the hero of the first movie; JohnRitter plays a JerkAss Uncle in ''Bride''; and ''Seed'' has JohnWaters as a paparazzo.
** And [[TheLordOfTheRings Grima Wormtongue]] is Chucky's voice.
** And [[DirtyHarry Scorpio]] is the barber in ''Child's Play 3''
* HeyItsThatVoice: The Japanese-dubbed version of the movies is an interesting case: Most of the voice cast worked in many series of the MobileSuitGundam saga voicing some of the main characters through the years:
** Chucky [[HirotakaSuzuoki was]] [[MobileSuitGundam Bright Noa]] in the first movie.
** In ''Seed of Chucky'', Chucky [[TakehitoKoyasu is]] [[TurnAGundam Gym Ghingnham]] (at least in the movie version, the DVD version had a different VA).
** in ''Child's Play 3'', Andy [[AkiraIshida is]] [[MobileSuitGundamSEED Athrun Zala]].
** And maybe the most [[HilariousInHindsight hilarious]] one: SoichiroHoshi voiced Glen/Glenda in ''Seed of Chucky''. Try to guess which other series he worked voicing an annoying teenager and involving '''[[MobileSuitGundamSEED Seeds]]'''.
*** In the American version, Glen is [[LordOfTheRings Peregrin Took]].

* MagnificentBastard: Chucky sure had no problem playing everyone like a fiddle in Child's Play 3. Up to, and including, him arranging for the Red Team to shoot members of the Blue Team to death, and attempting to blow them all up in the ensuing chaos. Would have gotten away with it had it not been for a HeroicSacrifice by one of the supporting characters.

* [=~Don't Explain The Joke~=]: In ''Seed'', Chucky and "Glen" are out joyriding, when Chucky [[CrossesTheLineTwice runs Britney Spears off the road]]. This would've been a lot funnier if every trailer didn't contain the disclaimer "BritneySpears Does Not Appear In This Movie" in big bold letters.
