** Matthew slept with an underage girl, and faces no consequences from it, not even his marriage is ended. Granted, he does express remorse about it and tries afterwards for the rest of the film to convince Jennifer that what they did is wrong, but even then, at the very end he implies that he found the overall experience positive. By the same token, the same could perhaps be said about Jennifer (chasing after a married man), but in her case, at least she has the excuse of being underage and not knowing any better, plus she's the closest to get any comeuppance when she almost dies from a suicide attempt.
** Karen. Granted, what her husband Matthew did was wrong, as were the actions of her sort-of-niece Jennifer. They shouldn't have been together, her being underage aside. But at the end Karen is revealed to have started all this by cheating on Matthew with Jennifer's father Victor, then keeping him at arm's length and always being angry with him, causing the up-until-then-unexplained marital problems that Matthew was facing at the beginning of the film. Yet she gets to glare, lecture, and sneer at everybody at the end. Matthew screwed up by screwing the underage Johnson--given. But the film made it clear her sudden distance and anger based on her own wrong was what left him such a mess that he responded to the girl's seduction. Then again, her actress Valerie Harper is best known for playing Series/{{Rhoda}}, who was another KarmaHoudini.
* MayDecemberRomance: Matthew has an affair with Jennifer, who could easily be his daughter. As in, she's actually his daughter's friend and are of the same age.
* TanLines: The topless extras at the beach mostly have tan lines, thus showing that they aren't usually topless.
* YourCheatingHeart:
** Matthew cheats on his wife with Jennifer.
** As it turns out, Matthew's wife Karen also cheated on him... with Victor, Matthew's friend and Jennifer's father (and who was also married).
