* ''Status'': Complete
* ''Synopsis'': A devoted fan finishes the series, and falls asleep, only to awake as an Animorph. The catch is that he is extremely GenreSavvy simply because he just read the series.
* ''Comments'': Well-written, and awesome to see Mike use his knowledge of the series to do very well in his new life.
** This is not well-written or above the average Self-Insert fanfiction. In fact, the basic premise itself has plot holes attached to it. He's in the Animorph universe but he has the entire Animorph series on his bookshelf. The Ellimist brought him there for reasons that are never explained. He eventually has a whole SWAT-esque team at his disposal. If you want something along those lines that is actually better rewritten, check out Animorph: The Reckoning. If you want a good self-insert, check out Yeerks, Whales, and Andalite Tales on Spacebattles.

* ''Synopsis'': A fan of Animorphs is reincarnated as an Andalite. He eventually finds himself in canon events, where his strange backstory makes him an anomally which causes him to have strange interactions with some of the canon characters, both the powerful and the small.
* ''Comments'': If you want a well written self-insert story, this is worth checking out. It's not perfect but it's one of the 10% Good Fics you're going to find in the fandom. In fact, some of the narrative tensions gets sucked out of it when you start to realize the reactions other characters have towards finding out he's an anomally cause things to go the way he wants them to. But the character inteactions are always believable despite that. Some of you guys might like it and some will probably think the main character is a Gray-Stu. Just thought I should leave it here because it is good.

** I agree that they can get a bit grating at times. One particular moment that continues to stand out to me even after reading them all the way back in 2018 is their reaction to the Sacred Host story, a fanfic currently recommended on this page. They outright said it was terrible simply because the premise of the fanfic itself was somehow bad, as if no human on Earth would attempt to convert a Yeerk to their religion, or the idea was too ridiculous to entertain. It comes off as very intolerant of religion. (Not to mention, they are very intolerant of Cassie's pacifism.) Despite that, they were still amusing, mostly because their obviously very close friends.

* ''Comments'': This is a {{Fix Fic}} done ''right''! It follows canon pretty closely, while also putting in reasonable changes as would be expected with a more experienced leader like Elfangor. And the romance between Elfangor and Loren is so beautifully well-done, not pulling any punches or glossing over any difficulties while allowing the growth to be realistic and touching! Just to warn people, it's...[[ArchivePanic rather long]].

* Comment by zealots: Highly recommended. This series predates the political correctness craze, so it's more candid and honest than later series summaries such as the Cinnamon Bunzuh blog. Those who feel that Cassie's character was a millstone on the series will enjoy poparena's insightful commentary, and those who feel David got a raw deal will find his review of the David trilogy a breath of fresh air. It must be reiterated that this series does predate the political correctness craze, so those listeners who tirelessly scour the Internet for Things To Be Mad About will most likely find some fuel for their rage, but everyone else should be entertained. To play the Book Guide on hard mode, try and find copies of poparena's videos with his selected ending music (most of which was removed by YouTube in one of their random copyright sweeps).

** Undoubtedly very well written and characterized, but occasionally veers a little far into "the Animorphs are dumb kids" territory even after the three years of character development in ways that can't just be explained as Tom struggling to see his kid brother and his friends as hardened soldiers, stretching the suspension of disbelief a little. Examples include Marco chasing after a shooter in wolf morph and not checking for any escape routes upon losing the trail; the Animorphs not realizing that cockroaches can fly even though they've flown as cockroaches in the series; and a number of boneheaded decisions during an assessment of a crashed spaceship of the sort they hadn't made since about halfway through the series. Still very much worth a read, but you should avoid thinking too hard about the details.

'''Page Reconfiguration in Progress''': Main/FanficRecommendations is being split into pages for each individual series, so help is needed to classify each entry into the appropiate category, and to format it according to the template.

** Seconded by KomodoClassic. There are exactly one hundred chapters. It can be a little fuzzy on exactly who the narrator is, but you can always figure it out eventually. The Tom chapters are excellent. I also have to recommend this to anyone whose favorite character is Marco--he doesn't narrate any chapters, but he's Jake's best friend and makes several appearances. The author is a fan of awesome Marco and it shows.

** Seconded by KomodoClassic. I expected crack fic when I clicked on this, but it really isn't. It's actually a great story--with a mild air of ridiculousness permeating a lot of it. Eva's voice as the narrator of the Vissers' adventure is fantastic. Appearances are made by the Nahara, the Lerdethak, and a Leeran. Oh, and the entire thing has a FramingDevice set in an AU postwar. It's really quite good, definitely worth a read.
