Every fandom seems to have its own specific categories of fics— sucked into Jak II fics, mildy AU post-Oo T Adult Link fics... That could be something that should be mentioned somehow for every fandom. Maybe it would allow for quicker pattern-spotting, too— you know, some fandom likes to do fics with a female twin for the lead, some other fandom likes the same thing, that sort of stuff.
On the other hand, it's just asking for trouble. What would you do with a seventh-Animorph fic set post-54?
Wait a second. I'm familiar with the books but not the fandom here— are you saying people actually ship the Vissers with each other? I hesitate to ask whether you mean Eva's yeerk and Alloran's... oh... my...
Oh, people absolutely ship Edriss and Esplin together. Personally, I find this less disturbing than Esplin/Alloran.

There are some things that are particular to Animorphs fanfiction, types of stories that we see over and over again.

And of course, there are the usual categories. General fics, romances, parodies, etc.
