** The fact that ''Faye'' is in Remnant raises more than a few questions. [[spoiler:Especially when you consider her nature as a Frost Giant]].
* AnIcePerson: Downplayed. The Leviathan Ax freezes whatever its blade touches.
* BadassGrandpa: By human years, Kratos is definitely pushing way past sixty, but he's still physically strong enough to lug around trees with one arm. Atreus even reminisces of how one time, his father had torn the wolf and chest of a Beowolf right off with his bare hands alone.
* BowAndSwordInAccord: Atreus' weapon is a pair of scimitar blades that can combine into a bow, with the blades meant to handle crowd control when he's swarmed on all fronts and the bow for singular targets.

* GlowingEyes: Atreus' eyes appear to glow when he creates arrows to shoot with his weapon while in its bow form.
* GratuitousForeignLanguage: When preparing Faye's for the pyre, both Kratos and Atreus speak in Norwegan tongue, one of the Scandinavian languages, as they bid her farewell.
* IllBoy: Atreus was this in the past, much like in the game, but after having his Aura unlocked by a Huntsman passing through Lapis, his illness faded and seemingly grew out of it. Kratos, however, warns him to keep his temper under control, implying that his sickness returns whenever he becomes angry.
* LightIsNotGood: The isle in which Lapis is located is inhabited by Albino Grimm -- white colored Creatures of Grimm who have adapted to their harsh cold environment and are considerably tougher than their natural darker siblings.
* LittleBitBeastly: Atreus is a Wolf Faunus, due to having been born on Remnant and perhaps a side-effect of his godly heritage if WordOfGod is to be believed.

** Atreus' weapons, while many others in ''RWBY'', can change between a bow and a pair of scimitars. Atreus is a skilled marksman with a bow despite his age, while the scimitars are obviously based off the Blades of Chaos, with Atreus even trying to mimic Kratos' style with the Blades by having glowing chains attached to the hilt via rotors on his wrists retracting and extending his reach.
** Atreus attire in Chapter 2 is based on his NewGamePlus armor Garb of the Last Jotunn.
* OriginalCharacter: {{Downplayed}}. Unlike IABTDO's previous work ''Fanfic/SomethingWickedThisWayComes'', the only original characters introduced in the story will be the townsfolk of Lapis.
