The campers go along with it first, since after all it is a chance to win $1,000,000. Or at least so they think, because they soon enough learn that they are fighting for much more than just money. The original was discontinued after roughly 6 chapters.

Remake: Set two years after the Ridonculous Race, the Producers have re-emerged from hiding and given Chris, Chef and Don the task of hosting a reunion of the show's vast cast of contestants in order to select a portion of them for a newly greenlit season: the setting being Pomewin Island, along the coast of British Columbia. In addition to the 39 who win the lottery draw at the end of the reunion, 3 competitors were pre-selected for the season and were already waiting for the others on the island. The cast of 42 campers is also rather unaware of the season's true nature as they begin their competition - and it will put all of their relationships, conflicts, friendships and strength to the test like no other season has before.

While greeting the guests arriving to the reunion party, Kelly (the one from {{WesternAnimation/Stoked}}) briefly mistakes Carrie's squeal for her enemy Emma's (not to be confused with the Emma from the race). This is a reference to the fact Carrie and Stoked's Emma have the same voice actress.

However, not ''all'' of these characters will end up qualifying for the season in the remake, but it's likely a good chunk of them will.

Set after all of the previous seasons though unspecified as to how much time has passed, Chris and Chef are confronted by the Producers themselves and told to secure a location for the upcoming season of Total Drama but are told nothing else about it. Afterwards, they are yet again put in their old positions as the host and co-host as a baffling 55 contestants are brought on to compete in this new season together - a selection that is a mixture of all cast generations and nearly but not quite fulfills the quota of all possible contestants. However things are not what they seem during this competition, and the contestants find it all out the hard way once they see how they get eliminated.
