When you get EnemyMine between Creator/FoxNewsChannel and Creator/{{MSNBC}}, something's seriously screwy.

* AsskickingEqualsAuthority: Kerrigan threatens as much if Zagara does not obey her.

* RealityEnsues: Many times throughout the story.
** Jaina's diplomatic skill means she is spending most of her time being an {{Ambadassador}} or [[BeleagueredBureaucrat buried in paperwork]] rather than super-heroing.
** After SPEAR destroyes the Anaheim Convention Center, the United States cites [[UsefulNotes/AmericanLawEnforcement Title 18 of the US Code]] as its law enforcement gets involved, but quickly realizes since SPEAR was international in scope that other countries want to have a say too. On a [[TearJerker sadder note]] it's explicitly said that a memorial service has been held due to SPEAR's orbital bombardment.
** InUniverse ''National Geographic'' ponders the consequences of Kerrigan's engineered life escaping into Earth's ecosystem and suggests this could have [[GoneHorriblyWrong disastrous consequences]].
** If the only reason you can hold a {{BFG}} is because you're wearing PoweredArmor and said armor is damaged, hope your boots are in decent shape as said BFG hits the deck.
** In a nod to the concerns of ''National Geograhpic'' above, Kerrigan's creations end up escaping. She realizes the harm this could cause, sending Zagara and Abathur after them. The InUniverse ''National Geographic'' approves.
** After many employees were killed by SPEAR, Blizzard Entertainment has to hire new ones, and many of these end up meeting the Heroes as part of their onboarding, including one who just might have seen some of this before...

** A scientist named Anna says the MemoryWipingCrew will [[Disney/{{Frozen}} "leave the fun."]] A later chapter is called "Can't Hold It Back Anymore" (referencing the inability of the protagonists to conceal certain events from the public).

* TakeThat: A minor one--there was an article on a gaming website that claimed Zeratul was a "new" character created for ''Heroes of the Storm'' ([[CowboyBebopAtHisComputer obviously]] [[BlatantLies blatantly]] [[Characters/Starcraft false]]). The narration snarks that Zeratul "had extensive backstory previously."

* LEGOGenetics: Kerrigan, just like in StarCraft itself. She tries to [[PetTheDog fix the age-old problem]] of horses being unable to recover from broken legs. It...[[GoneHorriblyWrong doesn't work as expected]]. Lampshaded by a "prominent geneticist" who chastises Kerrigan for tinkering with things she doesn't fully understand.

* {{Nanomachines}}: Morales' healing kit. Works on injuries, genetic problems, burns, you name it (as it did in StarCraft proper).
