The plot is very similar to that of the game, with one small twist: [[{{Bifauxnen}} Yu Narukami is a girl]].
Yu Narukami is the unfortunate daughter of [[ParentalAbandonment constantly absent]], [[ParentalNeglect forgetful parents]] who, on registering her for Yasogami High School, accidentally mark her as a male instead of a female. Sick and tired of their constant mistakes, Yu decides not to correct this mistake and simply lives with it, hoping someone will notice the mistake.
