* BreakTheCutie: [[spoiler:Abigail]] seems to be a bit broken each time there's an execution. However, to others, this happens twice in chapter 3. First to [[spoiler:Roxanna]] after [[spoiler:seeing the dead body of her recently-declared girlfriend]]. Then later on to Tristen after [[spoiler:her girlfriend, Penelope]] is executed for [[spoiler:the double murder of Remus and Erica]].

* DwindlingParty: Each chapter has 2 people dying. Of course, the story is on chapter 3, which tends to involve a double murder.

* ExpositionVictim: Actually there's two of them executed in a single chapter.
* ImNotHereToMakeFriends: Outright stated by Autumn in chapter 3 where she tells Tristen "I didn't come here to make friends. I came here to stay at the top of my field. Either you're an obstacle to my success or you simply exist. There will never be an in-between."

* ExpositionVictim: Actually there's two of them executed in a single prologue chapter.
* HollywoodAutism: Subverted by [[spoiler:Tristen Tyler]] who Penelope Dowry figures out is autistic. However she's extremely emotional, female-identifying and female-assigned, is in a loving relationship with [[spoiler:Penelope, the one who figured out she was autistic to begin with]], and her talent is the Ultimate Novelist, as opposed to an Ultimate in science or math. Unfortunately her autism does make her a target for bullying from [[spoiler:Autumn]], who even has an entire monologue during the second trial, aimed at her and chalked full of ableism. [[spoiler:Autumn does apologize to Tristen later, saying that she thinks she doesn't believe in even a quarter of what she said.]]

* TheCutie: Moreso referred to as a cinnamon roll. This is played pretty straight with Abigail Morris, they are extremely sweet and don't want to believe anyone is dying, and slightly subverted with Tristen Tyler: she does tend to have a fiery streak and does drop a swear word here and there, but still manages to maintain her sweet side.

\n* ExpositionVictim: Actually there's two of them executed in a single chapter.
* INeverSaidItWasPoison: Played straight in the chapter 1 and 2 trials; the culprit mentions [[spoiler:the color of duct tape used on the victim]] in chapter 1, and chapter 2's culprit is revealed to [[spoiler:have helped with the suicide video shown during the tragedy]] after they mention [[spoiler:having worked on a video with Ryota Mitarai, as well as where the book on the Tragedy was hidden]]. Neither of these were brought up beforehand.

* TheAce: Every single character is considered the best of the best in their field.
* AmbiguousTimePeriod: It's unclear exactly when the game takes place, though the author does often provide a day and night count.
* AndNowForSomethingCompletelyDifferent/ADayInTheLimelight: The story doesn't really have a definitive protagonist, so the focus tends to shift between characters.
* AnyoneCanDie: Played pretty straight.
* AudienceParticipation: All of the characters are submitted by authors on ao3, and whether or not the characters survive is in the hands of the readers, as they're charged with solving the mystery.
* BlackAndGrayMorality: Played mostly with the Ultimates. Erica Vian, slightly. After [[spoiler:she's found guilty of murder after the first chapter trial, from which she escapes execution and she's asked why she did it]], she says that "it's kill or be killed", but also because [[spoiler:she wants to see her sister again]]. However Autumn Michelson is a much better example of this trope. She tends to be the shadiest of the bunch, claiming to be helping the others by reminding them that death isn't too far behind them, but at the same time, she seems to make implications that she may be the dangerous one, such as when she bitterly describes who she thinks will be the next to go.
