* MightAsWellNotBeInPrisonAtAll: No matter how many times Hypno-Joe is arrested, he always finds a way to break out of prison.

** When Gru and Hypno-Joe are watching Evil Bratt and get to SpecialGuest Scarlet Overkill's scene, Hypno-Joe looked briefly sad. We later find out that [[spoiler:he's her nephew, and that he was mourning her passing.]]

As if that wasn't enough, Alex falls in love with Margo, awakening Gru's OverprotectiveDad instincts. Even worse, the infamous supervillain Hypno-Joe escapes from prison and, believing Gru's repentance is a cover too, wants to persuade him into take over the world with him--with Susan as his mindless puppet wife.
