** [[spoiler:Roger Murdoch]] from Volume 8 is this, being mentioned to be second to only Westcott in the nasty ideas he can think up and strategize, even managing to catch Westcott in a trap he can't weasel out of.

** Natsumi Inverse - ''To be revealed''Shortly after she appears, Natsumi enters her Inverse Form and causes havoc, also acts as a double meaning as the author states that Tohka and Shido swap thir protagonist and deuteragonist roles for Season 2 which begins with this arc.

Added DiffLines:

** Myrmidon - Ant based units that swarm an enemy and lock their movements by locking themselves onto their body, their armor is weak and they have no offense or defense, making them the weakest and easiest automatons to destroy.
** Minotaur - Ox like automatons that are strong like the Jabberwockies, but trade armor for speed, with Tohka noting they're much easier to destroy. They focus on slash attacks and can get on all fours to charge, the latter being dangerous for close combat fighters.
** Tarasque - A large turtle automaton that's slow and made for pure defense, they're around the same size as a Jabberwocky, and their armor is much harder to cut through than a Jabberwocky's is.

The author specifically state that the protagonists will be more compentent, and while the antagonists will be nerfed in their overall compentency, the ''overall badassery'' of their forces are actually increased, as their Wizards are even more fight-capable and they built several automaton units that could even pose a threat to Spirits.

* DeusExMachina: Aside from being the full name of Westcott’s company, this trope pops up on occasion.
** Right at the moment when Ellen is about to kill Tohka... Shido’s shouting that he needs her allows Sandalphon to manifest, and every possible thing that could go wrong for Westcott does as all but one Bandersnatch is destroyed and even ''Ellen'' is defeated.
** As the [[spoiler:Hydra automaton]] threatens to kill everyone, Origami [[YouAreBetterThanYouThinkYouAre encourages Shido]] despite she’s already having trouble breathing. At that moment, Mio senses a new power in him and [[spoiler:Shido uses the Double Spirit Ascension and finally destroy the automaton.]]
** Kurumi ends up helping everyone defeat the near-invincible Goliath when [[spoiler:she uses Yud on Shido, indirectly showing him how to use the Triple Spirit Ascension. This further ends up aiding Shido when Westcott takes control of her body in its Inverse Form as after Shido manages to reach out to the real Kurumi, Mio ends up properly registering the memories Yud gave her and realizes she’s the First Spirit. This allows Shido to unlock the [[DangerousForbiddenTechnique Over-Limit Spirit Ascension]] and free Kurumi from Westcott’s control.]]
** [[spoiler:Just when it seems like the the Deus’ strongest weapon, the [[DiabolusExMachina Diabolus Cannon]], is about to destroy Tenguu City... Maria manages to sneak in and destroy the control console before Marina can even react, making the cannon shut down and making the Deus regain all the damage it had just undone.]]
* DiabolusExMachina: Just like how a DeusExMachina occasionally pops up, this trope does the same. Usually it only does to prevent the arc from ending or to aid Shido’s efforts in proving himself to the Spirits.
** [[spoiler:Just when it seems like Kotori’s been killed by Minerva, its revealed that the wizard’s BreakingSpeech allowed Saya to experience a DespairEventHorizon and begin as Inversion. Her Inverse Form’s HealingFactor is so powerful that she regenerated her whole body from her surviving arm, and unfortunately for everyone... it makes Saya act like a BloodKnight.]]
** [[spoiler:Just as everyone frees Kotori from Saya, who finally accepts what happened to her, Minerva drops the Hydra automaton on them and learn it regrows heads in the same manner as its namesake.]]
** [[spoiler:Right as Saya is about to make Kurumi notice her altered memories, Westcott uses Kurumi’s clock eye to talk to everyone and reveal the truth in the cruelest way possible, nearly pushing her into an Inversion. To make it worse, he takes control of her body and forces her to undergo an Inversion anyways. Saya tries to call out to Kurumi so she can help her... only for her consciousness to finally fade away.]]
** [[spoiler:The Deus does this just by Westcott announcing its nearing the city. Then when its nearly beaten, Westcott has the Cassiopeia undo all of its damage before preparing the Diabolus Cannon, specifically named for this trope, and aiming it at Tenguu City to destroy it. Luckily for everyone, Maria pulls off a DeusExMachina to undo both of these at the last second.]]

* {{Irony}}: [[spoiler:DEM is short for Deus.Ex.Machina Industries, and more often than not, a DeusExMachina is exactly what ruins Westcott’s plans.]]
** [[spoiler:Taken UpToEleven with the Deus which is accidentally named after the term, pulls a DiabolusExMachina, and is countered by a Deus Ex Machina only moments after pulling it out.]]

* LivingWeapon: While only implied in canon, here the Angels are shown to be able to communicate and even act on their own will to protect the Spirits who own them. Special mention goes to Yoshinon, who can even [[spoiler:switch between her Zadkiel and Astaroth forms]] to protect Yoshino.
* {{Mana}}: Expanded upon in this fic. Mana is what empowers the Spirits and the first wave of Spacequakes leaves an abundance of it around the world. Some humans with mana source is born due to this, allowing them to use the magic-like tech Realizer. It is also the name of one character.

* LampshadeHanging: Hiroto does this with Westcott’s strongest automaton, [[spoiler:the “Deus”, over its name, size and being called at the last moment making it a ''literal'' Deus Ex Machina. Westcott realizes this right after its mentioned to his embarrassment, and the annoyance of Marina (who’s piloting it) who even states her disappointment on how badly he flopped with the name.]]

The only being that has higher authority over them than their chosen Master is the First Spirit. Yoshino. WordOfGod confirms that a Spirit’s Angel and Demon Kings are one in the same, and aren’t affected by the Inversion the same way their masters are.

''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12441757/1/Date-A-Re-Live Date A Re:Live]]'' is a ''LightNovel/DateALive'' AU {{Harem}} fanfiction written by [[https://www.fanfiction.net/u/5959626/Tohka-Yatogami Tohka Yatogami]].

Thirty years ago, a new type of natural disaster known as Spacequakes begin plaguing the world, killing 75% of Humanity and destroying many countries as mankind could only run from the chaos. In the present day, Shido and Mana Takamiya are a pair of amnesiac siblings who live in the Itsuka household with their honorary sister, Kotori Itsuka.

On the first day of his High School Freshman year, Shido's entire school is forced to evacuate due to an incoming Spacequake, only for him to quickly discover his sisters are still waiting at the Diner they promised to visit instead of taking shelter. He attempts to go rescue them, but in doing so, he discovers the Spacequakes are caused by none other than... girls!?

As the unexpected reality stands before him, the journey to discovering his forgotten past begins as his world is changed forever by the girl asking him: "Are you here to kill me?"

!!''Date A Re:Live'' provides examples of:

* AdaptationalBadass: Lots. The author specifically state that the protagonists will be more compentent, and while the antagonists will be nerfed in their overall compentency, the ''overall badassery'' of their forces are actually increased, as their Wizards are even more fight-capable and they built several automaton units that could even pose a threat to Spirits.
* AdaptationalWimp: The antagonists, DEM in particular, is noted by WordOfGod to be hit by this to make them less "invincible" as per canon. And it shows, DEM suffers more losses here than in canon and Westcott loses his composure more often.
* AdaptedOut: Origami's arc comes in much earlier than canon, and doesn't involve Kurumi, TimeTravel, or [[spoiler:the StableTimeLoop]] at all.
* AllThereInTheManual: The author tries her best to explain things that are important to the story within the chapters or the start/end notes of each chapter, but can't reveal everything without dragging out the notes or forcing it into the story. As a result, a lot of this TV tropes page has information not mentioned in the story itself, but is confirmed by WordOfGod through some tropes.
* AlternateUniverse: The whole premise of the fanfic. While still following ''Date A Live''[='s=] main setting, the story officially starts in the year of 2051, the Spacequakes are stated to have brought magic into the world, and Realizers are known to the public rather than a hidden secret. More, the Spirits and their Angels have slightly different characteristics than in canon.
* AscendedExtra: Many characters who the anime's first episode implied would be important to the story or are secondary characters in canon have a much bigger spotlight here.
** Mana is with Shido from the start, and quickly becomes one of the strongest members of the AST shortly after.
** Shido's classmates Hiroto, Ai, Mai and Mii are all members of Ratatoskr, as is their teacher Tamae.
** Some nameless one-shot or background characters are given names are more common appearances and roles. The AST soldier that talks to Ryouko about the hot springs trip in Episode 6 is named Katie, while the man that shares info about Nightmare to Ryouko in Episode 8 is named Matthew.
** Cecil, Ashley and Leonora from Date AST Strike are all transferred into the AST during Kurumi's arc.
** Jessica appears much earlier than in canon, and has a bigger role as one of Westcott's most trusted wizards.
** James Paddington and the Arbitel crew are this, as is the Arbitel which is a rival ship to the Fraxinus.
** [[spoiler:Saya Yamada, Kurumi's best friend who only gets mentioned in her Volume 16's prologue and flashbacks, not only ends up being vital to the entirety of Kotori's arc, but has a major role in Kurumi's arc.]]
** All of the video game exclusive Spirits and Mayuri are given bigger roles, [[spoiler:especially Rinne and Rio who are fused with the First Spirit and Phantom respectively]].
* ApocalypseHow:
** The devastation caused by the Spacequakes should have been a Class-2 due to causing humanity's population to drop from 8 billion to 2 billion, destroying many countries, and nearly taking all out all of Europe. It was reduced to a Class-1 due to the rapid advances in technology created by the DEM made using the mana that Spacequakes leave behind.
** [[spoiler:The Spirit Dimension is hit with a Class X-4 by Westcott and is completely destroyed, the chain reaction causes its remaining power to flood into Rinne and makes her cause the initial wave of Spacequakes. How he achieved this is still unknown.]]
* BackgroundMagicField: The First Spacequake is stated to have brought this upon the world, resulting in the birth of children with mana powers. These powers manifest in the form of stronger physical skills, and allows one to wield a CR-Unit.
* BalancedHarem: Specifically stated to downplay his trope since Tohka will have the slight lead in comparison to the others, but not big enough of one to make it a SupportingHarem.
* BigBad: Unlike canon, Isaac Westcott's status as this, as well as Ellen Mira Mathers and Artemisia Bell Ashcroft's status as CoDragons are established early. Now, one can also add Jessica Bailey to the list of [[TheDragon Dragons]].
* BullyingADragon: {{Downplayed}}. Both the AST and DEM are now quite capable of threatening Spirits, although they are still in a serious trouble when a Spirit decides to get serious.
* CentralTheme: Each arc as stated by the author has a specific emotion as the theme. Most of it is usually linked to the debuting Spirit, but can apply the events other characters go through during the arc. So far the following emotions have been linked to the following Spirits' arcs.
** Tohka - Happiness
** Origami - Sadness
** Yoshino - Fear
** Kotori - Anger
** Kurumi - Despair
* CodeName: In addition to the canon code names, the author adds ''more'' for the Inverse form of each Spirit. Tohka is "Sovereign," Origami is "Devil," Yoshino is "Marionette," Kotori is "Phoenix," Kurumi is "Paradox," the Yamai sisters are "Pandemonium," Miku is "Siren," Natsumi is "Sorceress," Nia is "Prophet" and Mukuro is "Supernova."
** Among the game and movie exclusive Spirits, [[spoiler:Rio is the "Phantom", and Mayuri is the "Watcher".]] Rinne keeps her code name, while Maria and Marina don't have one because they're simply AIs based on Spirits.
* CycleOfRevenge: Even more prominent than in canon, as this fic explores the possibility of a Spirit meeting another Spirit during their lives of being hunted. Additionally, this is the dynamic of Tohka and Origami early on: [[spoiler:Tohka met an Inversed Origami prior to the series, and was actually overjoyed that there were more of her kind and wished to speak with her. Unfortunately, the unstable Origami attacked Tohka instead, causing Tohka to lose hope and trust in the world and Inverting in the process. The two Inverse Spirits then spent their next encounters trying to kill each other.]]
* DarkerAndEdgier: The author actually states that the Spacequakes nearly brought Humanity to extinction because there was no way to avoid one for years, and the prologue chapter has Shido meet Tohka... [[spoiler:in her Inverse Form]]. That alone sets the mood for the entire setting.
* DeceasedParentsAreTheBest: Origami's parents are still accidentally killed by her during the Great Fire 5 years ago and [[spoiler:Shido and Mana's father, Seigo Takamiya, is confirmed dead by Reine, though it's still unknown how he died]].
* DespairEventHorizon: Crossing this is what triggers a Spirit's Inversion.
* FishOutOfWater: This is now the case for most of the Spirits, not just Tohka. The only ones who avert this so far are Origami, Kotori and Kurumi.
* KnightOfCerebus: The moment we get to know Origami's backstory and motivation, the story becomes much darker, starting from the 2nd arc. Kurumi later manages to top her in the 5th arc.
* MeaningfulName: Each arc has a specific word that relates to the arc's most important story point.
** Tohka Return - Tohka returns to Shido's life after years of absence.
** Origami Unchained - Origami feeling chained by her guilt, and Shido's efforts to break these chains.
** Yoshino Duality - The secret behind how Yoshino's ability to freely Inverse being [[spoiler:that Yoshinon is her Inverse form's personality]].
** Kotori Possessed - Kotori's blue eyes are the result of [[spoiler:her predecessor, Saya Yamada, trying to take over her body for herself]].
** Kurumi Fallacy - Kurumi seems to have tangled everyone in a web of lies, [[spoiler:but in reality Westcott's altered her memories and she's an unknowing pawn in his own lies]].
* MoodWhiplash: [[UpToEleven Even more prominent than the original novel]].
* NotAsYouKnowThem: The Spirits have slight, but significant changes in their characteristics. Moreover, some characters have ''very'' different, but realistic, backstories and (by-extension) personalities. This is also going to be inevitable for the extracanonical characters (Rinne, Maria, Marina, Rio and Mayuri).
* ParentalAbandonment: Averted with the Itsuka's (they actually work for Asgard Electronics, part of Ratatoskr, and are rarely home as a result) and [[spoiler:Mio/Rinne, seeing as an aspect of her remains in Shido]].
* RandomlyGifted: After the Spacequakes' global destruction left mana across the globe, some children began being born with mana inside their bodies that gave them enhanced physical ability and higher survivability than normal humans. Having this is a requirement for using a Wiring Suit and CR-Unit as they use one’s own mana as a power source.
* ShoutOut: Tons. The new and original units of DEM tend to be named from something mythologically significant. Usually from Norse, but gradually the author begins to use others as well.
* SlidingScaleOfIdealismVsCynicism: Despite the Darker and Edgier premise, the story still retains the overall idealistic premise of the original.
* SpiritAdvisor: An aspect of Mio, [[spoiler:aka Rinne Sonogami, the First Spirit]] exists within Shido's psyche, capable of telepathically speaking with himself and others around him. She has a slight amnesiac problem, but does everything she can to help Shido.
* SuperpoweredEvilSide: The Inverse Forms, which a Spirit only enters when they reached the point of emotional despair, are treated like this as per canon. However it is now {{Downplayed}} because Spirits still maintain a semblance of their thoughts and don't become a mindless killing machine. They do have their negative thoughts and feelings amplified, however, resulting in a ''very'' unstable behavior. [[spoiler:Yoshino is an exception as she can Inverse and change back of her own free will, as Yoshinon is her Inverse Form's personality.]]
* VileVillainSaccharineShow: Averted, unlike the original. The story is considerably darker and has more serious themes here.
* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: Due to the mana the First Spacequake brought into the world, genetics allowed for new unique hair colors, which is why some characters like the Spirits have certain hair colors naturally. One doesn't need to be born with mana to have them either.
