* DiabolusExMachina: Just like how a DeusExMachina occasionally pops up, this trope does the same. Usually it only does to prevent the arc from ending or to aid Shido’s efforts in proving himself to the Spirits.

Luckily for everyone, Maria pulls off a DeusExMachina to undo both of these at the last second.]]

* LivingWeapon: While only implied in canon, here the Angels are shown to be able to communicate and even act on their own will to protect the Spirits who own them. The only being that has higher authority over them than their chosen Master is the First Spirit. Special mention goes to Yoshinon, who can even [[spoiler:switch between her Zadkiel and Astaroth forms]] to protect Yoshino. WordOfGod confirms that a Spirit’s Angel and Demon Kings are one in the same, and aren’t affected by the Inversion the same way their masters are.

* WhamEpisode: [[spoiler:The reveal that Kurumi's been an UnwittingPawn for Westcott and that she's ]innocent of every bad thing we've seen her do because Westcott manipulated, influenced and even lied to her without her ever knowing by having made her be the experiment of the Material A project.]]
* WhamLine: [[spoiler:After restoring Shido's confidence after seeing Kurumi's murderous nature firsthand and having to injure her to escape being killed, Saya comes out and wonders what's going on. At that moment, everyone gasps as the reveal that Kurumi has been the friend she was searching for all along.]]

* WhamShot: [[spoiler:In a flashback during the Yoshino arc, we see Kotori when she became a Spirit, and during a fight with Kurumi... her eyes suddenly turn blue and her voice changes. Kotori's arc shows just how significant these blue eyes are.]]

The author specifically state that the protagonists will be more compentent, and while the antagonists will be nerfed in their overall compentency, the ''overall badassery'' of their forces are actually increased, as their Wizards are even more fight-capable and they built several automaton units that could even pose a threat to Spirits.

* AdaptedOut: Origami's arc comes in much earlier than canon, and doesn't involve Kurumi, TimeTravel, or [[spoiler:the StableTimeLoop]] at all.
* AllThereInTheManual: The author tries her best to explain things that are important to the story within the chapters or the start/end notes of each chapter, but can't reveal everything without dragging out the notes or forcing it into the story. ** Some nameless one-shot or background characters are given names are more common appearances and roles. The AST soldier that talks to Ryouko about the hot springs trip in Episode 6 is named Katie, while the man that shares info about Nightmare to Ryouko in Episode 8 is named Matthew.

** The devastation caused by the Spacequakes should have been a Class-2 due to causing humanity's population to drop from 8 billion to 2 billion, destroying many countries, and nearly taking all out all of Europe. It was reduced to a Class-1 due to the rapid advances in technology created by the DEM made using the mana that Spacequakes leave behind.

* CentralTheme: Each arc as stated by the author has a specific emotion as the theme. Most of it is usually linked to the debuting Spirit, but can apply the events other characters go through during the arc. So far the following emotions have been linked to the following Spirits' arcs.

** Among the game and movie exclusive Spirits, [[spoiler:Rio is the "Phantom", and Mayuri is the "Watcher".]] Rinne keeps her code name, while Maria and Marina don't have one because they're simply AIs based on Spirits.
