With the Abyssal War raging, the US Navy attempts to summon the shipgirl spirit of the battleship USS ''New Jersey'', only for the ceremony to be interrupted (and the ship sunk) by an Abyssal surprise attack. Thinking the summoning failed, Professor Crowning, one of the guests at the ceremony, heads to a nearby diner to console himself with apple pie. Then a six-foot-four blonde woman sits down next to him....
