The ''Ancienverse'' is an [[http://www.serebiiforums.com/showthread.php?656317-Shipping-Oscars-2016 award-winning]] series of Anime/{{Pokemon}} fan fictions by Epicocity, published in 2016. Set within the continuity of the ''XYZ'' series of the anime (and, later, beyond), the stories are written in past tense and focus mainly on the characters Ash, Serena, Clemont and Bonnie, with some other characters as well from time to time. The fics, while having romance as a major subplot, focus heavily on action with some drama and suspense as well. The series was later split into two trilogies: ''The Kalos Trilogy'', which were the first three books set in Kalos, after which, diverging from the canon anime entirely, and ''The Alola Trilogy'' which continues the events of the ''Ancienverse'' into the Alola region.

The first story of ''The Kalos Trilogy'', ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/11810169/1/Love-in-the-Time-of-Teamwork Love in the Time of Teamwork]]'' is set between the events of XYZ 15 and 16. Ash, Serena, Clemont and Bonnie arrive in a location called Ancien City, where they take part in an event known as the Kalos Team Tournament. Featuring numerous past-characters from within the XY Series and series prior, the characters form teams in an attempt to win the tournament. This is complicated by new rivals and a sinister plot working to make something happen by the tournament's end.

The first story was soon followed up by a series of oneshots, but eventually was succeeded by its sequel, set between XYZ 29 and 30, ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/11986845/1/Love-in-the-Time-of-Turbulence Love in the Time of Turbulence]]''. Within the sequel, Ash and Serena (now a couple) travel with Clemont and Bonnie to Nova Town where they reunite with original characters from the first story known as Team Brutal. There, complications arise with the ruthless Team Neo in an event that changes the entire Ancienverse moving forward.

A third and final story of ''The Kalos Trilogy'', ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12176803/1/Love-in-the-Time-of-Tribulations Love in the Time of Tribulations]]'' was soon published, set after XYZ 43. After the Kalos League and the Team Flare Crisis, the new Kalos Peace Tournament is organized as part of an effort to prevent more future crises. However, it's not long before the ruthless organization DARC is revealed to have their own nefarious schemes for Kalos and for the world.

Upon the conclusion of ''The Alola Trilogy'', a final story and associated oneshots were announced to begin posting on October 31st, 2017, with the final story, ''Love in the Time of Tomorrow'' to begin on December 28th, 2017.

* AccidentalMisnaming: Like in the anime, no one, not even his partner Cassidy can get Buffy's name right.

She even beat Domino of Team Rocket and her Lopunny singlehandily]]!

** Of the more romantic variety, expect Ash and Serena to have a passion filled kiss every story.

* HormoneAddledTeenager: A toned down version, but starting from their third date in ''Thirds, Thrills, and Temperature'' to the end of the ''Alola Trilogy'', Ash and Serena increasingly become more physically intimate with each other to the point where their third date was "ruined" because of their hormones. Even though their intimacy never went past hugs or kissing, ''Tenacity'' [[spoiler:shows that when both were exposed Nihilego's neurotoxins that they would take their intimacy '''''A LOT''''' further, if their inhibitions weren't keeping them from doing so]].
* HonorBeforeReason: Ash chooses to take Team Neo out as soon as he realizes they're nearby, despite everyone else telling him it's a bad idea.

* InfantImmortality: Played straight in the present day. Averted in regards to the past after it's revealed that [[spoiler: Merle died]].

* InstantSedation: Bonnie, Mairin and [[spoiler:President Goodshow]] fall prey to this.

** Ironically, [[spoiler:a point of concern for Dalton, who believes it shouldn't be this way]].

** After being hinted at throughout ''Road to Tomorrow'' and the final story ''Love in the Time of Tomorrow'', it's confirmed that [[spoiler:this now applies to Ash and Serena once she tells him that she's pregnant with their first child in the final chapter of Ancienverse]]
* BackForTheDead: [[spoiler:Agent Domino of Team Rocket appears for the first time since ''Mewtwo Returns'', leading the mission on Mount Chimney, but she is killed by Tolbert within the same chapter.]]
** [[spoiler:Pierce, a prominent Rocket agent in BW, is also killed to stop him from giving crucial information to the good guys.]]
** [[spoiler:Zager is killed by Tolbert to complete their purge of the Team Rocket HQ.]]

It hilariously gets taken UpToEleven in the final chapter of Ancienverse when [[spoiler:Hau announces that he intends to marry Lillie]].

* OncePerEpisode: There always seems to be a Salamence in each flagship story.

If there's a chance to tease Ash and Serena/Clemont and Korrina/Hau and Lillie, and make them flustered or uncomfortable she's ''going'' to take it without hesitation. She takes this UpToEleven during ''Love In the Time of Matrimony'' where she [[spoiler:effectively blackmails Serena into letting her be a bridesmaid for her wedding where she had squishy steal the bouquet to pass it out evenly to [[Beta Couple Korrina for Clemont]], [[GenkiGirl Mairin for Alain]], and [[{{Adorkable}} Lillie for Hau]]. Even after Serena and Ash get married, Bonnie definitely pulls no punches on teasing them citing them as her [[ShipperOnDeck favorite couple]]]]
