* ButtMonkey: David usually ends up getting the short end of the stick in chapters where he first appears. On numerous occasions, he ends up getting killed, strongarmed, humiliated or just beaten senseless and though he's managed to duck getting imprisoned in rat morph, he ''does'' end up getting forced to abandon his identity and spend the rest of his life a human morph. Then again, David is such a bastard that he often ends up deserving every bit of suffering he acquires.

Feel free to add more bigoted traits of David - these are the ones I remember best.

* PoliticallyIncorrectVillain: Over the course of the various chapters that he appears in, David gets to demonstrate some ''really'' bigoted traits. When he meets Marco's mom in "What if Eva was never a controller?" he makes a point of snarkily asking where she's from, implying that she's not actually from San Diego - stopping just short of accusing her of being an illegal immigrant. In "What if the series was set in modern times?" he makes a few sexist remarks while gaming and gloats over the fact that he once doxxed a girl, clearly not realizing the unpleasantness of the act until he notices Jake's horrified reaction. In "What if James, not David, became the seventh Animorph?" David sells the Escafil device to James for a whopping forty dollars, not only claiming that a "kid in a wheelchair" was an easy mark, but also failing to remember anything significant about him other than the fact that he was in a wheelchair - prompting Marco to lose patience with David ''very'' quickly.

* PyrrhicVictory: In "What if Tom ended up leading the Animorphs?", Tom dies early on, and this absence of a leader causes Marco to make a series of increasingly more brutal decisions. [[spoiler:At the end, he saves Jake and wins the war... at the cost of thousands of other Yeerks and hosts, and humans are now forbidden from leaving Earth.]]

* ShapeshifterLongevity: Discussed in "What if morphing changed the user's lifespan?" which opens with the prompt suggesting that the Andalite morphing technology might de-age the Animorphs to the point when they gained the power every time they demorph, making them functionally immortal. However, the chapter itself turns out to be a subversion: because their powers were based on experimental tech unintended for humans, most of the Animorphs find themselves suffering incurable cancer in their forties, and attempting to use the old ShapeshiftingHealsWounds trick only results in the tumours growing back bigger than ever. [[spoiler: The chapter [[DownerEnding ends with the team having long since succumbed to cancer]], with only Ax surviving to safeguard the legacy of his departed friends.]]

* FlirtyStepsiblings: {{Defied}} in "What if Peter and Naomi got married?". Jordan already has a crush on Marco, so when Marco learns they're going to become stepsiblings, he acts as unappealing as possible to turn her off him.

* InnocentBigot: Ax comes from a society where the disabled are ostracised, which appals the humans. In "What if Marco was Deaf?", they spend ages explaining what sign language is and that they don't want to isolate Marco. In "What if Ax joined the team in the first book?", he says that former-Andalite nothlits are excluded from society, which Jake compares to ghettos.
