* HopeSpot: Anakin has a brief one, when he realizes that Kyle and Jan's marriage is completely normal for them, and begs them to tell him how to keep both his Jedi career and his wife. They have to gently explain to him that yes, Kyle is considered a Jedi, but only by technicality, and his title as "Knight-Errant" reflects that. As far as the Council will admit, he is an extreme outlier and not a viable path for a Jedi. The best advice they can give him is that eventually, either his Jedi career or his marriage will end, and the most he can do is choose in advance and make the most of himself as long as he has both, but have a choice ready for when the break comes so he is ready for the break.

* CharacterDevelopment: Because Tarkin and Anakin meet much earlier in this story than they do in Canon, they start to affect each other differently. Anakin is given a military role model that appeals to his "Man of Action" tendencies, while also tempering him with the experiences of combat away from the Jedi. Tarkin encounters the Jedi in a far more positive light, as people who are searching for a way to act properly, which military discipline and the chain of command can help with; Anakin signs on as a Fighter Pilot, where his status as an AcePilot meets Tarkin's approval, as Anakin doesn't take on responsibilities that he isn't ready for, and is sticking with something that he ''is'' (as opposed to what would have happened if the Jedi had all blindly taken on the role the Senate was thrusting on them, that of Generals).

These examples of Surprisingly Realistic Outcome seem to violate at least one of these rules, which disqualifies them: No character reactions (characters get angry, don't forgive, don't change their personality instantly, etc.); Too fantastical (depends on the properties of magic, powers, sci-fi tech, monsters, etc.); Not surprising (a character was warned about the outcome, it's used to provide Karma or An Aesop, or it simply follows normal conventions for this genre or medium); Plot happens (the example only describes an event, but not why audiences would expect a different, unrealistic outcome); Not an outcome (a character just explains why something wouldn't work as expected); More of a Deconstruction (the event has major, lasting effects on the plot, make something more realistic, but not completely realistic, or a parody/fanwork applies realistic consequences to the events of a different work); or fits better under a different trope. See the trope's definition for more details. If you believe a removal was a mistake, please bring it up in the cleanup thread.

* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome: Numerous and well written.
** Kyle's attempt to blend into a temple full of telepathic space wizards who can sense emotions and are ''particularly'' on edge regarding the Dark Side – which Kyle has access to – goes off about as well as you could expect. Namely, he isn't in the temple for more than ten minutes before the Jedi Council ask to see him to ask "What the hell."
** Robots designed specifically to defend against lightsabers, and nothing else, can't really handle ''guns''. Kyle takes one out before admitting that "he didn't think that would work", and promises to use his lightsabers on the other two.
*** Kazdan Paratus, who had made the droids, accepts the lesson and designs his next droid to not only defend itself against guns but also includes a sniper rifle and a [[MoreDakka repeating blaster]] in the design.
** Kyle points out that the Jedi, for all their skills at individual combat, are not ideal ''commanders'', and shouldn't take the job of "Generals". He backs this up with information taught to him during his education at Imperial Academies, which point out the ''many'' military failures that the Jedi had before they could become acclimated to the role. To show he's not considering just them failures, he explains that with his soldier training, he's probably the one best trained to be a general... and that he would be terrible at it, his talents leaning more towards leading small squads.
** The Jedi don't have a Public Relations expert, which Yoda quickly realizes is a mistake – it leaves the Jedi out-of-touch with the common man, and themselves isolated from the galaxy's opinion of them.
** You have magical powers that allow you to hear the thoughts of others and rarely leave your secret base? Turns out that doesn't do wonders for others' perception of you. Many people don't trust Jedi, be it for their powers, or their mannerisms (their overly formal and traditional ways come across as insulting to many), or that almost no one has ever seen a Jedi.
** Palpatine is ''smart'', and a Chessmaster of epic proportions. Just because Kyle has future knowledge, doesn't mean that the plans of the Sith are going to come unraveling so easily, or that Palpatine won't be able to adapt to new information.
** Kazdan Paratus' new battle droid is far more formidable than the old sparring droids or any other droid active... But as it's made from a hodge-podge of other droids part and is incredibly expensive, isn't put into mass production, something Paratus fully accepts.
** One skill of Jedi is that they can feel death in the Force. Since the CIS don't use living beings in their army, and people form bonds when in stressful situations, Anakin points out that even the most hardened Jedi is going to have to deal with feeling the death of all of his allies – and ''only'' their allies – on the battlefield, and that strain could make them snap.
*** He also runs into an issue where he has a hard time getting equipment and outfits outfitted for him while on an assignment with the clones, because... well, they're clones. All their stuff is outfitted for exactly one body type. Anakin, not fitting it, needs to get his gear custom-fitted.
** Tarkin is informed that the refits of combat ships will be done in a few months... although it is noted that because it's so late in the design process, with no chance to build new, specialized ships to take advantage of combat lessons, most of the "upgrades" will be little more than "Bolt anti-air guns on every available spot on the hull."
** Kyle may be from the future, but he wasn't a historian, and a lot was lost following the purges, meaning he sometimes makes mistakes due to not knowing what has happened, like suggesting the Jedi hire Mandalorians to lead the Army of the Republic when most main-stream Mandalorians at the time were pacifists, and even when he gets Mace to agree that there ''are'' still warrior Mandalorians out there, he messes up by suggesting they hire Fett. Since Boba is still a relatively unknown child, the only Fett the Jedi know of is Jango… who Mace himself killed.

* ArmorIsUseless: {{Averted}}: armor can be useful, and Jedi start rebuilding their old armor because of that.

*** Kazdan Paratus, who had made the droids, accepts the lesson and designs his next droid to not only defend itself against guns but also includes a sniper rifle and a [[MoreDakka repeating blaster]] in the design.

** Kazdan Paratus' new battle droid is far more formidable than the old sparring droids or any other droid active... But as it's made from a hodge-podge of other droids part and is incredibly expensive, isn't put into mass production, something Paratus fully accepts.

* WeaksauceWeakness: The armies of the CIS are droids. Implacable, able to operate in vacuum, tireless... too bad that Kyle has a directed EMP gun that he just turned over to the Republic for reverse-engineering.

Added DiffLines:

** Tarkin and Grievous are shown to be this in their battle from the start, with the former [[spoiler:[[AlphaStrike firing all the guns in his squadron to a single target]] to both take it out from the start and enjoy the morale effect on both his forces and the enemy organic commanders coming from ''proving he could'']] and the latter [[spoiler:using droid starfighters to soak it up]], something Tarkin admits it's a legitimate use of droid fighters (but not ones with an organic crew).

** Aside from the ships named for in-universe people and places, or have cannon names, all the Republic ships are named for ships from FreeSpace. Including the ship Anakin was deployed on - the ''Sathanas''.
