** In ''Hearing Only Yourself'', Plagg gets so aggravated with Adrien [[NeverMyFault blaming everyone but himself]] for his troubles and calls him out on it, only for Adrien to whine that "Now you're lecturing me? C'mon, Plagg, [[YouUsedToBeBetterSpeech you used to be fun]]."

* In ''[[https://archiveofourown.org/works/25476952/chapters/61799827 Traps and Sneaks]]'', Alya [[UnwittingPawn unwittingly helps]] Lila break into Marinette's room, leading to Lila getting seriously injured when she sets off a booby trap protecting the Miracle Box. Alya proceeds to argue with Marinette's mother about the definitions of 'trespassing' and 'breaking and entering', completely failing to understand ''why'' they're so upset with her about the incident.

** Marinette spent over a year and a half dealing with how [[SecretIdentity being Ladybug]] [[KeepingSecretsSucks strained all her relationships]] before she finally broke down under the pressure and [[SecretKeeper confided in Alya]]. Alya barely lasted two weeks -- the ''second'' she realized [[TheMasqueradeWillKillYourDatingLife Nino was upset]], she revealed Rena Furtive's existence to him. Marinette considers this [[ThisIsUnforgivable an unforgivable betrayal]]; Alya [[YouKnowWhatYouDid doesn't understand why she's so upset]]... and when Marinette confronts her about telling Nino, blankly asks "Well, yeah, but why do you care?" Even after she spells out ''exactly'' why in ''exhaustive'' detail, Alya declares "Everyone makes mistakes!" and keeps trying to downplay the incident.

** AU!Alya got into serious trouble at her old school for posting MaliciousSlander on her blog. Trouble that was severe enough that her family suffered legal consequences, and moved to Paris in hopes of giving her a fresh start. Alya [[NeverMyFault blames her sources]] for being 'untrustworthy', failing to learn anything about checking her information from the incident.
** While Lila was [[LaserGuidedKarma publicly exposed as a liar]] and shipped off to reformation school, Alya refuses to consider that this ''might'' mean [[CassandraTruth Marinette was telling the truth about her all along]]. Instead, she takes this as a sign that the Wish [[GoneHorriblyWrong went horribly wrong]].

* In ''Fanfic/TheHavocSideOfTheForce'', Jedi Master Ki-Adi-Mundi hears that for all the problems his arrival caused, pretty much everyone who actually talks to Harry Potter agrees that he's a decent if mischievous fellow. Mundi decides that Harry's brainwashing and enslaving them, including two Jedi Masters (Sinube and Qui-Gon Jinn), just by meeting them. [[spoiler:Later chapters reveal that Anakin's harmless prank of staining Ki Adi's head is causing a chemical reaction that increases his paranoia]].

** Chat Noir has a ''disastrous'' interview wherein Ladybug spells out that she's never been interested in him, and only endured his unwanted advances for fear of one of them getting akumatized. He also turns the public against him by callously underplaying how much Hawkmoth terrorized Paris. Afterwards, he complains to Plagg that Ladybug should have tried ''harder'' to let him know that she wasn't interested (despite her repeatedly telling him just that and going ignored), and acts as though the public is being ''ungrateful'' for everything he did for them.

* In ''Fanfic/MarigamiStories'', everyone assumed that Marinette was with Kagami - or "the ice queen" as Alya calls her - as a form of payback when the rest of them ignore her for "mistreating" Lila.

* ''Fanfic/RobbReturns'': [[spoiler:The message from the Seven, delivered via their statues turning Northwards, was intended to warn their followers against the Others, but many of their followers either misinterpret or choose to believe that it's warning them against the North and the Old Gods instead.]]

He only puts two-and-two together after his Super-Hearing manifests while his parents argue with Dr. Tsubasa in the hospital, forcing Inko and Hisashi to tell Izuku the truth about his origins.

** Essentially the divergence point of the story. Oliver intended his words to Laurel in the hallway to be a [[CruelToBeKind wake up call]] that forced her to confront how she was making a lot of bad choices and needed to take responsibility for them instead of blaming others. Unfortunately, he said those words in such a hostile and abusive manner that Laurel [[SuicideForOthersHappiness interpreted them in an entirely different way than he intended]], causing the situation to end in tragedy instead.
** Oliver himself also a victim of this, as he interpreted Laurel's outburst as an act of spite rather than what it really was: a desperate cry for help and a desire for proof that her family actually cared about her. It didn't help that he lacked context about the situation, namely the abuse Laurel's parents had been putting her through the past five years over Sara's death. When he finally gets all the information, he openly acknowledges that he should have never tried to force Laurel to reconcile with her family and that he would've handled Laurel's reunion with Sara very differently had he known.

* ''Fanfic/WolfInTheStreetsSardineInTheSheets'': Etna and Laharl quarrel over the latter's inability to understand why children like them would join a gang; she was a StreetUrchin, while Laharl grew up in a more comfortable environment and still had his father's wealth to support him even after his passing. When Etna comments that "Maybe you wouldn't get it, Prince, what it's like not having a family...", he asks what family has to do with it.

* In ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/11639574/1/Sorting-Sideways Sorting Sideways]]'', the Sorting Hat is worried students are more focused on trying to fit into the House they want rather than find a House that fits them. So he deliberately sorts an entire year into the House that represents what they most lack and/or need. For example, Hermione lacks humility and Draco doesn't see the value of hard work so both are sent to Hufflepuff. Meanwhile, Ron wants to prove himself but is daunted by his brothers' accomplishments so being in Slytherin will help him to greatness, though not easily. And Harry is sent to Ravenclaw because he has it in himself to be studious, but he quit trying as Dursleys bullied him if he got marks better than Dudley.

** Mutsumi spends the entirety of the story insisting that Keitaro and Naru can repair their relationship despite both repeatedly making clear that they want nothing more to do with each other. Even when faced with increasingly blatant evidence that Naru is only going along with her plan in hopes of getting her hands on Keitaro and [[NoHoldsBarredBeatdown beating the shit out of him again]], as well as the fact that her "[[HorribleJudgeOfCharacter new friends]]" have ulterior motives for helping her out, Mutsumi simply ''refuses'' to catch a clue, until her nominal allies are so [[EnragedByIdiocy enraged by her idiocy]] that they call her out on it.

* In the first ending of ''[[https://miraculous786.tumblr.com/post/615293567779454976/cracks-are-all-it-takes-to-shatter Cracks Are All It Takes to Shatter]]'', [[TheHeroDies Marinette dies]] after her classmates [[FailedASpotCheck fail to notice]] that she's been akumatized into a porcelain doll for ''months'', breaking apart when Alya rips her sketchbook apart. A VideoWill is discovered where Marinette revealed her SecretIdentity as Ladybug and declared that, if anything happened to her, she wanted Alya to replace her. Rather than [[MyGodWhatHaveIDone recognizing how badly she wronged her former best friend]], Alya fixates on the idea that she gets to be the new Ladybug, smiling through her tears. This outrages Chat Noir enough that he furiously attacks her, screaming about how "'''You're the reason we need a new Ladybug!'''"

** The following arc, ''Even a Worm will Turn'', reveals that Alya completely misinterpreted Ladybug's request. Ladybug wanted her to prove that she's capable of researching her stories ''before'' posting them online; Alya decides instead to focus on live footage. When Chat Noir directly calls her out on how her increased reckless is endangering not only herself, but everyone around her, Alya angrily doubles down, insisting that she needs to talk to ''LADYBUG'' about everything -- and that the only way to do so is by forcibly inserting herself into the equation despite being warned to back off.

** After Rose learns that Felix is in a ballet troupe, Marinette, Kagami and Felix all make clear to her that they ''don't'' want Lila to know. The troupe serves as a safe space for Felix, and they don't want the manipulative AttentionWhore finding out about it, especially after she already tried blackmailing them earlier. Rose's response is to insist that "[[HorribleJudgeOfCharacter Lila really isn't like that, guys!]]", and Felix catches her texting Lila shortly afterwards. He then calls her out for completely ignoring their wishes, accusing her of being a FairWeatherFriend to Marinette.

** Marinette tells Adrien quite bluntly that "I can't love someone who let Lila do what she did to me." Somehow, Adrien convinces himself that what that ''really'' means is that she's envious of his FakeRelationship with Lila, and that if he can just let the ConsummateLiar down gently, he'll be free to immediately start dating Marinette.

** Plagg spends much of the work desperately trying to explain to Adrien that Ladybug's victory against Hawkmoth is unleashing LaserGuidedKarma, and that if Adrien continues trying to shield Lila and Gabriel from the consequences of their actions, he risks being hit by karma instead. Adrien repeatedly dismisses his warnings, and only comes around to the concept when he realizes that karma gives him a handy-dandy scapegoat for why things mysteriously aren't going his way. After all, it couldn't ''possibly'' be connected to [[NeverMyFault anything he has or hasn't done]], right?

** Adrien/Chat Noir has this problem. No matter how many times it's explained to him how dangerous it would be for him to know Ladybug's SecretIdentity -- and that Ladybug neither wants him to know or is interested in any of his 'romantic advances' -- he refuses to stop trying, insisting that it will all be fine because [[EntitledToHaveYou they're 'meant to be together']].

** ''...How Could You?'' features Marinette having a panic attack after Alya and Nino lock her and Adrien into a closet and pretend the place is being attacked. The pair then act ''incredibly'' smug when they open the door and see [[NotWhatItLooksLike how Adrien is holding her]], bragging about how they planned the whole thing and failing to grasp just why Adrien is ''furious'' with them both. Even when Adrien reminds them that he's currently dating Kagami, and Marinette reminds Alya that she told her she'd given up on her crush, Alya just condescendingly tells Marinette that "It's not good to lie to yourself."

** Adrien [[RuleOfThree does this again]] when Nino encourages him with a pep talk about how they can't change the past, but can make the future better, using his desire to rebuild his friendship with Marinette as an example. The fact that he's talking about learning from their mistakes and making better decisions sails clear over Adrien's head; instead, he decides to 'fix' things by [[UnrequitedLoveSwitcheroo pursuing a romantic relationship with her]].

** All Might repeatedly ignores all of Izuku's accomplishments in favor of focusing upon his Quirklessness. For instance, he fixates on the fact that he was nearly killed during his first combat exercise, ignoring how ''Bakugo'' was the one who used extreme force, and that Izuku managed to win that battle anyway.

'''Ran''': No, you're not getting it. It's a tragedy. Two silly kids raised by oblivious parents in a city full of stupidity. They take several rash actions on the spur of the moment, try to run away and hide from the consequences and end up killing themselves for nothing. Everyone is hurt, and everyone is to blame. That's why it's a tragedy.

* In ''[[https://archiveofourown.org/works/41164092 An Unpleasant Surprise]]'', Molly's reunion with her old friend Ashley turns sour when Ashley takes the news about her having a girlfriend poorly. Molly gives a passionate speech about how Libby makes her feel, only for Ashley to completely ignore all of that in favor of fixating upon a passing remark she'd made about how Ashley looked good without her glasses, making her fret that Molly was attracted to ''her'' now. Molly declares that she is not, nor will ever be, attracted to her. Missing her friend's mounting frustrations and how she's losing her respect, Ashley sighs with relief, declaring there's still hope for Molly to turn straight again. Molly then tells her off and hangs up.
