The ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic'' fandom (heck, the ''Franchise/MyLittlePony'' fandom in general) is '''filled''' with {{Dark Fic}}s:

* The much-loved flash game ''VideoGame/StoryOfTheBlanks'' is somewhat unusual among dark fics, as despite being significantly darker and more gruesome than the show, it sticks pretty close to its themes and tone.

* ''[[https://www.fimfiction.net/story/300014/when-the-bough-breaks When The Bough Breaks]]'' deals with a topic fiction usually overlooks. It is about Cadance having a miscarriage, and both her and her husband having to deal with it.

* Equestria's Finest Hour, the magnum opus of shock-fic writer Headless Rainbow, is possibly the most sadistic, bizarre and out of character horror-fest that could ever be labeled a My Little Pony fanfiction. The premise begins with [[spoiler:Twilight having forced Big Mac and Applejack to have children]] to study the effects, fully expecting Applejack to [[spoiler:die in childbirth]]. She then takes the new foals and [[spoiler:hooks them to machines to pump them full of hormones and sexual knowledge, creating sexual experiments for her to toy with.]] In this universe, Twilight is a bit of a maniacal god, and everypony seems to have a laissez faire opinion of death and the inevitability of it at Twilight's hooves. The experiments and cycle of [[spoiler:illegitimate, incestuous, prepubescent births]] eventually mix with Spike's [[spoiler:seed]] and create a hermaphrodite monster, aptly named Monster, which ends up taking over Equestria and killing and fucking anything in its way with reckless abandon. There are several side plots, almost all of which include the most depraved forms of [[spoiler:murder, rape, pedophilia, necrophilia, and just about any other social taboo you can imagine]], with characters constantly backstabbing each other and constantly fantasizing about killing each other. All of this is while maintaining a writing style and character voices that sound like something right out of the show, with for example Fluttershy [[spoiler:bashfully and innocently expressing her desire to kill the CMC and marry Twilight on several occasions]]. The detail of the gore and sex is off the rails, crossing into extreme details of depravity you woudldn't even think possible, from [[spoiler:Angel Bunny killing his date while they are both being devoured in the stomach of a monster]] to [spoiler:Luna torturing pipsqueak and zipporwhill in their dreams, ending zipporwhill's life as her father fucks her corpse in the waking world before being brutally killed himself]], to [[spoiler:Celestia being raped by the aforementioned Monster and having her entire insides liquidated by its own, dying slowly and puking her guts all over Shining Armor's dying body]]. To say this story is for the faint of heart is an understatement.

** ''Fanfic/RocketToInsanity'' is a RecursiveFanfiction that treats ''Cupcakes'' as a recurring nightmare RD has, that eventually [[spoiler: drives her to murder Pinkie in a fit of paranoia]]. Don't read the Alt ending if you don't like [[{{WAFF}} Vanilla]].

Each chapter makes you live the last moments of a different pony, so be prepared for some major TearJerker moments.

* ''The Path of Absolution: Punishment'' ''starts'' with literally the entire cast [[spoiler:''bullying the CMC into suicide'' over the events of "Ponyville Confidential"]], and it only goes downhill from there. The fic has two endings, one an EarnYourHappyEnding, and the other a DownerEnding where [[spoiler:the Mane Six perform a SenselessSacrifice, leaving their friends and loved ones alone and traumatized.]] The sequel is ''even worse''.

* ''Butterflies'' starts with Fluttershy inviting Pinkie Pie into her cellar where she keeps butterflies. It turns out that Fluttershy is a SerialKiller who feeds ponies to larvae. She even killed Pinkie's girlfriend Rainbow Dash. To make it worse, [[spoiler:Fluttershy isn't feeding corpses to the larvae. She surgically implants them into living ponies and lets them get eaten from the inside out alive]].

Applejack finds that the potion won't wear off and that she can't fall asleep. She soon starts going insane and hallucinates that other ponies are Filthy Rich trying to steal her farm, leading to Applejack murdering several ponies (including accidentally killing [[spoiler:Apple Bloom]]). It ends with [[spoiler:Twilight refusing to reveal her role in Applejack's outburst, with her reasoning being that others can't know what she's done because she's a princess. Thankfully, the other deities, especially Amicitia, keep him in check and step in to save his worlds.

Featuring the aftermath of a magical apocalypse, mutated monstrosities, murder, rape, cannibalism, racism, attempted genocide, [[FateWorseThanDeath fates worse than death]], its darkness is matched by its length as it is one of the longest fanfics in the ''Friendship is Magic'' fandom (eventually surpassed in both word count and [[DarkerAndEdgier darkness]] by a [[RecursiveFanfiction spin-off]] by the name of ''[[Fanfic/FalloutEquestriaProjectHorizons Project Horizons]]'') leading to it being also one of the most well known. * The ''FanFic/PonyPOVSeries'' is on the EarnYourHappyEnding side of things, and ultimately a lot of circumstances have ''[[NiceJobFixingItVillain improved]]'' from what they were at the beginning... but there is a long list of good reasons why this version of Discord is considered the most horrifying the fandom has ''ever'' produced. In a bit of irony, its revealed that the Shadows Who Make, Watch, and Rule's ([[spoiler:otherwise known as [[HumansAreCthulhu the Writers, Readers, and Hasbro]]]]) collective dark side is personified in Nyarlathotrot, the Spirit of Horror, Tragedy, and Grimdark. As a result, Nyarlathotrot is basically a MadArtist who views making worlds where Dark Fics take place as his duty and an art form. Thankfully, the other deities, especially Amicitia, keep him in check and step in to save his worlds.
* ''FanFic/FalloutEquestria'' is immensely darker than the show it's based on. Featuring the aftermath of a magical apocalypse, mutated monstrosities, murder, rape, cannibalism, racism, attempted genocide, [[FateWorseThanDeath fates worse than death]], its darkness is matched by its length as it is one of the longest fanfics in the ''Friendship is Magic'' fandom (eventually surpassed in both word count and [[DarkerAndEdgier darkness]] by a [[RecursiveFanfiction spin-off]] by the name of ''[[Fanfic/FalloutEquestriaProjectHorizons Project Horizons]]'') leading to it being also one of the most well known. A plethora of other [[http://fallout-equestria.com/story/list/ spin-offs]] continue the darkness the original created.

Among other things, the story includes Rarity's father turning Twilight Sparkle into a BloodKnight SuperpoweredEvilSide by pushing an ArtifactOfDoom ''[[EyeScream through her eye]]'', said SuperpoweredEvilSide [[MindRape mind raping]] Rainbow Dash into her servant and trying to kill the other Mane Cast, [[spoiler:Celestia being tortured by her own mother, Twilight becoming a BrokenAce and subsequently seeing Celestia as a BrokenPedestal and [[RageAgainstTheMentor calling her out]],]] and ponies dying all over the place.
* In ''[[http://www.fimfiction.net/story/13367/Harbinger Harbinger]]'', Equestria is brought to its knees by a sudden ZombieApocalypse, and the Mane Six ([[LoadsAndLoadsOfCharacters accompanied by a great many side characters]]) are forced to trek through their ruined nation in search of survivors and a safe haven. By the end, [[spoiler: most of the pony race, including many major characters, is killed off, with just a few hundred survivors building a new civilization in the ruins of Fillydelphia]]. The story ends on a hopeful note, but boy, [[EarnYourHappyEnding do they ever have to go through hell to get there]].

It includes detailed descriptions of injuries - including Twilight's horn nearly being ripped off of her head when she is attacked by a mod - as well as thorough physiological issues with many characters.
* ''Fanfic/PagesOfHarmony'' can be noted for many of the same sort of reasons as ''The Secret Life of Rarity''. Involving Twilight brutally murdering her friends to get their Elements, it is extremely disturbing and graphic, full of MindRape, AxCrazy Twilight ([[spoiler:and Rainbow Dash as a result of said MindRape]]) and [[ScienceIsBad very detailed scientific procedures]], and thus is NOT for you if you can't handle that.
* ''Fanfic/{{Popped}}'' is what Cupcakes could've been if Sgt. Sprinkles hadn't written it as a joke. Popped is darker, edgier, and legitimately scary. Oh, and Pinkie is in the victim's chair in this one.
* ''FanFic/TheMonsterWeMade'' is an exercise in minimalist horror. Each chapter [[spoiler:with the exception of the last two]] is only 1000 words in length, but boy does it pack on the dark. The plot features the darker side of Twilight's transformation into an Alicorn, as she brutally slays each and every one of her friends. Each chapter makes you live the last moments of a different pony, so be prepared for some major TearJerker moments.
** By the same author, [[http://www.fimfiction.net/story/267137/where-black-stars-rise Where Black Stars Rise]] puts Twilight Sparkle and Prince Blueblood in the path of [[Franchise/CthulhuMythos Hastur the Unspeakable]]. What ensues is battles with evil cults, madness, and an exploration of [[EldritchLocation Carcosa]].
* ''FanFic/TwilightRevised'' is an alternate universe where Nightmare Moon [[TheBadGuyWins wins the initial confrontation]] with the Elements of Harmony. She does it by using MoreThanMindControl and a side of {{brainwash|ed}}ing on Twilight Sparkle. Multiple characters are KilledOffScreen and the entire story is told from Twilight's very distorted perspective.
* ''The Path of Absolution: Punishment'' ''starts'' with literally the entire cast [[spoiler:''bullying the CMC into suicide'' over the events of "Ponyville Confidential"]], and it only goes downhill from there. The fic has two endings, one an EarnYourHappyEnding, and the other a DownerEnding where [[spoiler:the Mane Six perform a SenselessSacrifice, leaving their friends and loved ones alone and traumatized.]] The sequel is ''even worse''.

Eventually it gets to the point where [[spoiler:she is the last remaining living thing in the blank, pitch dark universe however she doesn't know how she got there]].

* ''WebVideo/FriendshipIsWitchcraft'' is an AbridgedSeries-esque reimagining of the series where Twilight is a narcissistic VillainProtagonist, Fluttershy is a cult leader, Rarity is a ShellShockedVeteran, Applejack committed various war crimes but was let off scot-free, and Pinkie Pie is a StepfordSmiler whose parents died as a filly. It's all PlayedForLaughs for the most part but it is still dark.
