Kabouter Wesley (meaning “Gnome Wesley, the “ou” is pronounced like “ow” from “how”) is a Belgian series of short comics written and drawn by Jonas Geirnaert, published on an irregular schedule from 2008 to 2010 in Belgian magazine “Humo”. From fall 2009 onwards, the comics were adapted as tv cartoon shorts, which can be found on Youtube.

The series revolves around “Kabouter Wesley”, the titular grumpy gnome. It has a very simplistic and surreal style, and often portays violent and obscene material.

Geirnaert created it while working on his short film ''Flatlife'', to let of some steam. Which is why he wrote silly stories with an simple style.
