The event focuses on a WhatIf storyline where the Autobots are soundly defeated, and the Decepticons now have nothing stopping them from eradicating humanity. What follows is an exploration of what happens when the Autobots fail to stop the Decepticons, and how Megatron's faction handles being able to do whatever they want with their mortal enemies out of the way.

* AbortedArc: In issue 6, Starscream makes a clearly meaningful comment about Scourge and the possibility that he might try and overthrow Megatron. However ExecutiveMeddling prevented Shane [=McCarthy=] from using Scourge or the subplot that was planned for him, forcing [=McCarthy=] to fall back on the usual "Starscream betraying Megatron" story.

* OffModel: Thanks to the fill-in artist, one of the issues has it, especially when shifting between Cybertron and Earth.
* OhCrap: It's full of this.
* NearVillainVictory: The series begins like this: The Decepticons have successfully rallied around the Earth and exiled Optimus's main forces to Cybertron with Optimus himself on life support. Subsequent stories would label this moment as "The Surge" a particularly strong Decepticon push late in the war that nearly killed Optimus, destroyed several Autobot cells, and [[ComicBook/TheTransformersLastStandOfTheWreckers toppled Garrus-9]]. Further, Decepticon science had significantly advanced with the incorporation of Combiners and the Space Bridge into their army. At the end of the book, Megatron very nearly has the human resistance and the Autobots killed with a nuke.

* DevelopingDoomedCharacters: In the worst way. Andy Reid is the human point-of-view character for most of the early issues, trying to survive the Decepticon invasion of Earth while also trying to find his dead friend DJ's girlfriend. Then he dies when Astrotrain attacks the subway station he and other humans are sheltered in, and none of his subplots ultimately mattered.
