* InferredHolocaust: When people start turning into spider monsters and going berserk, it's constantly brought up by the characters that these are still innocent people and that they should be treated with non-lethal force. Spider-Girl, in particular, encounters The Hand, The Hobgoblin and a whole slew of anti-Spider cultists killing scores of people-turned-monsters indiscriminately, and throughout the entire arc it's implied several times that a lot of innocents were killed while under the control of the Queen.

The ''ComicBook/SecretWars2015'' event will include an Alternate Universe setting where the Queen succeeded in taking over New York.

* HesBack: Fans of the classic Eddie Brock version of Venom were thrown a bone when the symbiote happily ditched Flash Thomson to reunite with its second host... for three panels, during which Flash pleaded with the symbiote to return to him and reminded it that Eddie would constantly resist its control. On a more permeant, Kaine came BackFromTheDead and eventually wound up inheriting the title of the Scarlet Spider.

* GodSaveUsFromTheQueen: Adriana "The Queen" Soria from 2004's ''The Spectacular Spider-Man'' Vol 2'' makes a comeback, this time teamed with the Jackel to infect all of New York with her spider-virus.

Among other call-backs, many of the background characters wear copies of the Ben Reiley Spider-Man and Scarlet Spider costumes instead of the classic Peter Parker costumes.
