For nearly twenty years now, Archie Comics has published the [[ComicBook/ArchieComicsSonicTheHedgehog comic adventures]] of one Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog. Likewise, they have had similar success bringing VideoGame/MegaMan, the Blue Bomber, to [[ComicBook/MegaMan the printed medium]]. Thus, it was only a matter of time before both titles, which are penned by Ian Flynn, came together in the form of a {{crossover}} --- the first VideoGame/CapcomVsWhatever crossover to be produced in a medium other than video games.

* AbsenteeActor: Despite every Robot Master, Mega Man Killer, and Genesis Unit member appearing in the crossover, [[VideoGame/MegaManV the Stardroids]] are completely absent for the entire crossover. Though since Dr. Light lists them among Wily's schemes that backfired on him (and considering who created them in this continuity), there's likely a very good reason he left them out.

** Mega Man tried to remind Ballade of his HeroicSacrifice at the end of [[Videogame/MegamanIV]]. Due to the TimeWimey nature of the plot however, he hasn't done it yet.

* BondVillainStupidity: Despite their more GenreSavvy moments, Eggman and Wily firmly grasp the VillainBall between Part 11 and Part 12 by [[spoiler: locking up the defeated heroes instead of finishing them off. Why? Because their egos demand they indulge in some EvilGloating first.]]

* GenreSavvy: Both Wily and Robotnik have some great moments of this. Most notably [[spoiler: both of them admit in their monologues that they're doubting the plan's chances of success and start planning to steal the Wily Egg and Egg Wily Machine X just in case everything goes bad.]]

* LastVillainStand: [[spoiler: Eggman tries one towards Sonic and Mega Man. Amusingly, while he does so, Wily [[GenreSavvy just gives up and lays on the ground]].]]

* YouCantThwartStageOne: Aside from building an entire PocketDimension and OminousFloatingCastle unnoticed, Eggman and Wily acquire all seven Chaos Emeralds with so little interference that it mostly happens [[OffstageVillainy off-panel]]. Of course, the two doctors are GenreSavvy enough that they know smooth sailing in the early stages of their plans is no guarantee of victory, especially when their enforcers are getting trashed by the heroes.

It will begin in June 2015 with Sonic #273, Sonic Universe #76, Mega Man #50, and Sonic Boom #8, with a prequel story in Sonic Super Special #14. The storyline will involve the Deadly Six and Sigma, who has roboticized both Sonic and Mega Man to serve him.

** In ''Sonic Universe'' #52, Sonic gets deja vu from fighting Buster Rod G, implying that he's halfway remembering Monkey Khan. He also derisively refers to Buster Rod as a Kiki, a kind of Badnik from ''Sonic Adventure''.

** In Part 9, after Wily gloats about the power of the Genesis Wave, Dr. Light reminds the two doctors of all the moments they have endangered or were potentially endangering themselves and/or the world. In Wily's case, he mentions Ra Moon, [[VideoGame/MegaMan3 Gamma]][[note]]Who Wily did keep control over, Gamma was still a possible threat to the world.[[/note]], [[VideoGame/MegaManAndBass King]], [[VideoGame/MegaManV the Stardroids]], [[VideoGame/MegaMan10 the Roboenza virus]], and [[AntiHero Bass]]. For Eggman, he refers to [[VideoGame/SonicAdventure Chaos]], [[VideoGame/SonicAdventure2 the Space Colony ARK]], [[VideoGame/SonicBattle Em]][[VideoGame/SonicAdvance3 erl]], and the [[VideoGame/SonicGenerations the Time Eater]][[note]]Despite the fact that the Time Eater is one of the few monsters to ''not'' turn against Eggman and its destruction of the time-space fabric was ''exactly'' what Eggman wanted it to do[[/note]].
