!!This series provides examples of:

* AdaptationDyeJob:
** Dorothy has no known hair color in the text. The original ''Literature/TheWonderfulWizardOfOz'' illustrations by W.W. Denslow depicts her as a brunette with GirlishPigtails. Starting with ''Literature/OzmaOfOz'', John R. Neill began depicting as a blonde with a bob haircut, which has been her most common hairstyle in future reprints of the books. The Marvel comics go with a middle ground: Dorothy has a dirty blonde color, starts off with pigtails, and later changes to a bob.
** Ozma is depicted with her standard brunette design. This originates from John R. Neill's ''Ozma of Oz'' illustrations. Ozma's original design as described in ''The Marvelous Land of Oz'' (and John R. Neill's illustrations for that book) depict her as a blonde. Ozma's eyes are also blue instead of their canon green.
* AgeLift: Ozma's age changes in John R. Neill's illustrations, even in the same book. The Marvel comics go with the depiction of Ozma being Dorothy's age.
* ComicBookAdaptation: 2009's ''Oz'' is Creator/MarvelComics' second adaptation of ''Literature/LandOfOz'' books. It covers the first six books.
