An old crusader, retired from mercenary days and more keen on his theology studies and being a guild leader. Makes his first appearance in ''Soldiers of Fortune'' as an old friend of Valkron and Iruna's. His rank in the Holy Order is Major-General, and apparently he knows Valkron from the days since he was a corporal, and Iruna from ''her'' days as a private.

Leads the Exodus Faction, based in Greenwood Lake in Payon.

* BadassBookworm: He does theology studies when he's not out in the field.
* BadassGrandpa: He is the oldest of the guild leaders.
* BadassPreacher: A high-ranking retired missionary.
* CoolOldGuy: Was in the Battle of Al'Zahur, is Major-General in the Order despite being a retired missionary and leads one of the guilds in the "big league". He's over sixty and is described more of an "aged youth" than an old man.
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Brown, although he's greying a bit.
* WeHardlyKnewYe: Makes his appearance in Chapter 16. Dies in Chapter 17. [[WorldHealingWave Thankfully, he gets better.]]

* DarkAndTroubledPast: Valkron is reticent on the topic of the Battle of Al'Zahur and will always immediately change the subject while looking very uncomfortable and pained. It's never outright explained in the trilogy because it's apparently still too fresh in his memories, despite the war being fourteen years ago, but most of his personal problems stem from the event.
* DeadpanSnarker: ''Biggest'' offender; nearly every other line he says is a snarky remark. Thankfully he tones it down when Emeth points out he comes off as a stereotypical arrogant knight (and also out of surprise that someone said something about it instead of avoiding him).

In the party and the guild, he makes all the necessary, cold decisions notes that others can't make, but always he cares for the better. As Iruna notes, world very much and grumbling about caring is basically the equivalent of "saying the sky is blue". He is however a PragmaticHero through and through and he is "the leader people need but do not want". prefers to act out of necessity rather than kindness.

* HeroesPreferSwords: Valkron specifically mentions that while he can use spears and respects spearmanship when done well, he prefers fighting with his two-handed longsword. This makes sense in that becase of his height and preferred fighting style a spear would slow him right down; he would not have sufficient strength to wield a hammer or an axe, either.

* ImNotAHeroIm: JustDoingMyJob variant. Valkron's badassery has its own status in the Kingdom and he utterly hates it, but not many people listen to why.

* TheLeader: Valkron is Type II and III - he's often incredibly levelheaded and hardly ever fazed while taking on responsibilities as naturally as it is for him to breathe. * AttentionDeficitOohShiny: Done in a very dark way. Argath gets bored easily if he {{Mind Control}}s only one person for long periods of time, so he switches targets and seeks out new ones to corrupt. He's been responsible for deteriorating much of the Kingdom this way for years.
* BlackSwordsAreBetter: The black sword he carries gets to have the additional benefit of corrupting anything it injures to turn into an undead vampiric being like him.

* BloodKnight: Was implied to be this when he was alive. In death he's an anti-human KnightTemplar.
* CameBackWrong: Apparently the resurrection ritual used to bring him back was sloppily done, which is why instead of looking like a normal person he has blood running down his hair and his cheeks are not fully solidified.

* BadassCrew
* {{Determinator}}s
* {{PunchClockHero}}es: They're ''all'' mercenaries.
* RagtagBunchOfMisfits

* TrueCompanions: Eventually.

!!Valkron
A mercenary knight commander from the Mercenary Knights' Battalion, Military Division, Royal Prontera Chivalry. He is a veteran of war at 39 and finds his own company more than sufficient comfort. However, after he is forced to lead a part of ragtag mercenaries who are as willing to team up with him as much as he does with them, things from his past begin to bubble up and he has to struggle dealing with them. Wears a visor (Helm) paired with fins in front of his ears (Fin Helm).

* BerserkButton: Never bring up his height if you want to keep your nose.
* BoringButPractical: This is him all over.

* {{Determinator}}: Anything he thinks needs doing, he'll get it done without hesitating. Even if he has second thoughts about it, once he's firmly decided on doing it he's not turning back. And nothing can stop him once he's decided.
* FriendToAllChildren: Seems to be automatic. Show him a child and he'll do a complete 180 in behaviour. He even refrains from swearing in the presence of children.
* GoodIsNotNice: Valkron always works to help others in need, even if he doesn't like them very much. In the party and the guild, he makes all the necessary, cold decisions that others can't make, but always for the better. As Iruna notes, he is "the leader people need but do not want".
* GoodThingYouCanHeal: As a shout-out to the Swordsman skill HP Recovery, both Valkron and Iruna recover from minor to moderate injuries at a much faster rate than the others. The justification in-story is the two of them are very fit from all the training they've done.
* GreenEyes: Much attention is given to his dark green eyes paired with his white hair, which is often commented upon as "not being common".
* HeroicNeutral: Before and during Soldiers of Fortune.
* HypocriticalHumour: Hates that people stick to stereotyping knights as arrogant snobs when his snarkery often makes him sound very arrogant himself.
* ImNotAHeroIm: JustDoingMyJob variant. Valkron's badassery has its own status in the Kingdom and he utterly hates it, but not many people listen to why.
* KnightInSourArmour: He's probably the most jaded and realistic of the group, to the extent he may be borderline pessimistic, but he still believes in ideals. Bonus points for being an actual knight.
* LightningBruiser: Valkron's fighting style was based off the build known as "2-Hand AGI", which incorporates two-handed swords and speed.
* MessyHair: Valkron's hair is consistently described as bushy.
* TheNapoleon - He stands at 5'6" and gets overlooked a lot when standing next to Emeth. He makes up for it by being fairly aggressive, violent and short-tempered, which is kinda hard to miss.
* NayTheist: He makes it very clear that whatever gods do exist he does believe they're there, he just doesn't like them at all.
* OnlySaneMan: Most of the time he's this. Other times he THINKS he's this. When he isn't being the OnlySaneMan, either Emeth or Iruna plays that role.
* RealMenWearPink: Valkron darns his own socks and enjoys reading history.
* RedOniBlueOni: Red to both Iruna and Emeth.
* RunningGag: Valkron often makes the threat to shove something up someone else's body part.
* VitriolicBestBuds: Valkron doesn't like Emeth at first and deliberately gives him plenty of vitriol and snarkery to try and chase him away. It doesn't work, and eventually Valkron gives up.
* YoungerThanTheyLook: Valkron starts off being 39, but his hair makes him look much, much older than he really is.
* [[YouGottaHaveBlueHair You Gotta Have White Hair]]: Not common for this world, which makes it significant.

!!Emeth
A wizard who stands at 6'02", with flaming red hair and gold eyes. Despite his height he tries to make himself as small as possible. He is a skilled ladies' man, but at the time of meeting Valkron he's more interested in finding somewhere to belong and not stick out like a sore thumb. Wears a pair of headphones (Headphones) and constantly chews on a leaf (Sentimental Leaf) for which he persistently denies is not a drug.

* ChickMagnet: Always gets swarmed by women and girls for his looks and smooth talking.
** The latter group makes him uncomfortable due to age differences, though.
* {{Foil}}: To Valkron. Emeth is laid back, mostly unencumbered by his past and is very much a team player. Valkron is uptight, troubled and a lone wolf. Much of their friendship is the heart of humour and drama in the fic.
* TheLancer: To Valkron.
* LargeAndInCharge: Averted. Everyone thinks that because Emeth is over six feet tall he must be the leader, right? Nope, it's the much shorter Valkron next to him.
* MagicStaff: Weapon of choice.
* MessyHair: Has it even worse than Valkron.
* NiceHat: Emeth's headphones, more of a headgear than a hat. They don't do anything, insofar as anyone's concerned, apart from keeping his ears warm.
* NotAMorningPerson: Repeatedly shown in the form of him asking why they have to get up so early, and always looking like a wreck until after he's had a shower.
* OlderThanTheyLook: In contrast to Valkron, girls tend to misjudge Emeth's age at 25. He's exactly 10 years older than that.
* OralFixationFixation: Debuts chewing a leaf. At one point Iruna gets fixated on it.
* PeekABangs: Angsty version. Everyone else interprets it as sexy, much to his bewilderment. Occasionally both eyes are seen.
* PlayingWithFire: Fire seems to be his preferred element of choice, considering the spells he uses for maximum effect. Sight Rasher is his favourite, but he also uses Firebolt, Meteor Storm and Fire Wall with deadly effect.
* PointThatSomewhereElse: Valkron finds it easier to threaten Emeth with his sword because he can't reach Emeth's face. Emeth ends up doing this a lot.
* RedheadedHero
* RedOniBlueOni: Blue to Valkron, Red to Iruna.
* ShockAndAwe: When not using fire, he's busy using lightning spells (Lightning Bolt and Jupiter Thunder). It's his second specialisation.
* SquishyWizard: Yes, he may be good at close combat, but Emeth avoids doing it as much as possible because he can't take injury as well as Valkron and Iruna can. He takes the longest to recover from injuries.
* SuspiciouslySpecificDenial: Emeth insists that the leaf he chews on does not alter his perception of things in any way, especially not like a drug.

!!Samaroh
An arrogant and haughty priest, well-read, highly intelligent and proficient in his work but tends to take on an insufferable "I'm better than you" air with regards to his achievements and capabilities. As much as Valkron would love to kick him out, he's a vital member of the party since he heals anyone as long as they ask and he's good at it. Has an argumentative streak because he feels the need to be always right. Wears a black peaked cap (Boy's Cap) and has a gold earring on his left earlobe.

* InsufferableGenius: He ''is'' smart, and the rest of the party are willing to acknowledge it. It's just that he takes so much self-satisfaction in it that makes him unbearable to be with on occasion.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Say what you want about Samaroh's insufferable attitude, but you cannot deny that he is loyal and always willing to help anyone less fortunate than he is.
* TheMedic: The build he's based off of is Full Support, so healing is his primary role. He tries to exorcise on occasion, but it drains his energy much faster than he does healing and he doesn't know the right spells. In addition he also practises Physik, or practical medicine, where magic fails.
* NiceHat: His Boy's Cap.
* SexyPriest: He would like to be left alone on this topic.
* SmugSnake: Valkron is "tempted to punch that obscenely smug smirk off his face" more than once.

!!Khan
Contrary to stereotypes about the assassin class, Khan is friendly, amiable and good-natured. He'll listen to anyone who has problems and will keep their secrets for them. He likes to go with the flow in an absent-minded frame of mind. Amaru describes it as a switch that involuntarily flips on and off; Khan puts it to having had one too many bangs on the head in his life. Wears a conical straw hat (Sakkhat).

* BewareTheNiceOnes: Khan is indeed a friendly assassin, but do not even go near Amaru if you don't want to get to know his intricate knowledge of complex poisons.
* BladeBelowTheShoulder: Switches to katars occasionally.
* CatchPhrase: "My name is Khan, I'm a friendly assassin, don't worry about me."
* ChildhoodFriends: Amaru.
* DiseaseBleach: Khan suffers from premature greying, hence the grey hair.
* DualWielding: At times he will use a combination of other weapons (sword and axe, for example) if he can get his hands on them. Usually from people he's already knocked out.
* HeterosexualLifePartners: With Amaru.
* KnifeNut: Is pretty damn good with daggers.
* NiceHat: His straw hat.
* ScarfOfAsskicking: Unlike most of the other assassins, though, Khan makes it a habit to wrap it tightly around his neck before he fights. He has a major pet peeve with assassins who don't do this, and makes a game out of yanking them by the scarf to make his point.
* ShortHairWithTail: Male version. He wraps linen around the hair so it doesn't get in the way.
* YoungerThanTheyLook: Khan's hair doesn't help in the appearance department. He's 42.

!!Amaru
A chain-smoking blacksmith who is always seen around with Khan, and a man of few words. Very little is known about him because of this, but he is efficient in battle, has a sense of honesty and honour, very considerate and very dilligent. Although he is not predisposed to forging, he works hard at every smithing job he takes on to make sure the product is quality. Wears a headband to keep his hair out of his eyes while forging.

* BadassBaritone: Whenever he talks, his voice immediately commands attention.
* BagOfHolding: As with Merchant classes in RagnarokOnline, he has a little cart with him that holds all the supplies the party needs. It's noted at one point that he can carry much more than Eni.
* TheBigGuy: He is quite strong given his profession, and also quite street-smart and observant since he has to be an entrepreneur.
* ChildhoodFriends: With Khan.
* GoodSmokingEvilSmoking: Given this is Amaru, it's a sign of him being a badass.
* HeterosexualLifePartners: With Khan.
* HiddenDepths: Amaru is a lot more intelligent and observant than he looks, and has a good business sense.
* TheQuietOne: So quiet that [[OOCIsSeriousBusiness whenever he speaks it means he's got something really important to say]]. Khan usually speaks for him otherwise.
* SilentSnarker: He rolls his eyes in response to stupid statements or actions. A lot. His snarky expressions make for plenty of {{Funny Background Event}}s, and also hint at his HiddenDepths.

!!Nocturne
The youngest of the party and therefore the most easily underestimated. He is also the most immature and blunt person in the group, though he doesn't always notice why and how. Of the entire group he's still looking at the world through rose-tinted glasses. Unfortunately the hunter also has an argumentative, hard-headed streak to add to that, and usually gets into verbal rows with Samaroh. Is Eni's younger half-brother.

* InnocentlyInsensitive: Tends to not think before he speaks.
* TrapMaster: Shows proficiency with them. It's his specialty.
* WideEyedIdealist: In a group of realists and cynics, he still manages this in a pretty impressive way.

!!Eni
At first sight it's fairly hard to believe that the alchemist is Nocturne's older half-sister; she has brown hair and purple eyes compared to Nocturne's sandy blonde and blue eyes. Much more grounded than her sibling, she hates it when people argue. The most feminine and the least cynical of the two women in the group, though she is fairly realistic, and also the most indecisive. She prefers to think ahead and can't really think on the fly. Recognisable by her bunny ears headgear and her pet Lunatic, called Fluffball.

* TheChick
* [[CrazyCatLady Crazy Bunny Lady]]: She loves bunnies and will try to keep as many as possible. Nocturne says she has plenty of Lunatic (RO's version of fluffy bunnies) eggs in her storage for no apparent reason other than having them around.
* CrazyPrepared: Stocks potions, farmed ingredients for Acid Bottles and Fire Bottles, potion manuals just in case she forgets recipes, herbs, empty glass bottles, potions for Glistening Coat (in Flight of the Phoenix), and that's just to name a few. Due to the sheer number of glass bottles she keeps her cart makes a very distinct clinking rattle.
* GirlishPigtails: With [[HairDecorations ribbons.]]
* HotScientist
* PrettyInMink: As is with all female alchemists.

!!Iruna
A crusader from the Order of Juno who meets Valkron via her more quirky party members Eni and Nocturne. She is quiet, reserved and cool-headed. Like her fellow party members she is not someone to be trifled with; her skill with the sword and shield, and the ability to heal and deal out a world of hurt with her white magic (and her shield) give her an edge over the rest of the party members. Wears a blindfold during battle to hone her concentration.

* ChurchMilitant: However, she doesn't preach at all to her companions. Her explanation is "There's a time and place for religion, and sometimes you just have to stop praying, get off your knees and start fighting." Valkron is rather thankful for this.
* [[OnlySaneMan Only Sane Woman]]: Much, much more than Emeth or Valkron...or anyone else, for that matter.
