A mysterious and charismatic cat who has recently appeared in Clan territory. He is extremely persuasive, his voice being described as "hypnotic". Exactly what he's after is not known, but he has several times attempted to turn the Clan cats away from their beliefs in [=StarClan=], and is not very well trusted.

Bluestar's nephew, and one of the more well-respected warriors in [=ThunderClan=], he remained a good friend to her and Firestar both. He also served as Firestar's first deputy.

One of the protagonists of the second series of books, Brambleclaw is the son of Tigerstar, something which causes him a great deal of angst. He is determined to continually prove himself a loyal and virtuous warrior. He was chosen by [=StarClan=] to be one of the cats to journey to Midnight and find a new home for the Clans, and currently holds the position of deputy of [=ThunderClan=].

The leader of [=ThunderClan=] during most of the first series, and Firestar's mentor. She is highly respected as a wise and powerful leader, even by cats of other Clans. Her only real problem is her unwavering trust in Tigerclaw, whose betrayal shocks her so deeply that she becomes paranoid and insane, and turns her back on [=StarClan=]. [[spoiler:She gets better... just before her death.]]

!!Graystripe

Firestar's best friend, and former deputy of [=ThunderClan=]. Graystripe is a good-natured, easy-going cat who gets along well with everyone. Gets his own big source of drama when he falls in love with the [=RiverClan=] warrior Silverstream, and fathers two kits with her. He temporarily joins [=RiverClan=] in order to be with them, but his conflicting loyalties eventually lead to his rejoining [=ThunderClan=].

* DayInTheLimelight: In his three issue manga series about how he met his new mate and returned to the Clans.
* HesJustHiding: An interesting case. From the perspective of the characters, it seemed almost certain that Graystripe was dead or was going to die. The readers, on the other hand, know that it's highly unlikely that Twolegs would kill an innocent cat intentionally, so it was pretty clear that Graystripe was alive, even if he might never return.

!!Spottedleaf

[=ThunderClan's=] medicine cat when Firestar first joined, she was also his first love. She is killed in a [=ShadowClan=] raid before the relationship has much of a chance to go anywhere, but Spottedleaf continues to show up in Firestar's and his descendents' dreams throughout the series.

She remains in [=ThunderClan=] as a prisoner until Spottedleaf's death. Disgusted at what her birth Clan has become, she agrees to formally join [=ThunderClan=] as their medicine cat.

Firestar's first apprentice, Cinderpelt was hit by a car early in the series, badly breaking and twisting her leg. Because of this, she was unable to become a warrior, and instead trained under Yellowfang as medicine cat. She remains a close friend and confidante of Firestar throughout the series. She is killed during the badger attack, but [=StarClan=] reincarnated her as Cinderheart, who is now able to live the life of a warrior that Cinderpelt had to give up.

* HeroicSacrifice: Dies preventing the badgers from harming her brother's newborn kits. She actually gets reincarnated ''as'' one of those kits.
* JustFriends: This is what Firestar [[ObliviousToLove thought of their relationship]]. According to WordOfGod, however, Cinderpelt had feelings for him, but due to her position as medicine cat, couldn't act on them.

Originally one of Tigerclaw's supporters, Dustpelt was horrified when the warrior's treachery was revealed, and refused to follow him any further. Firestar's nephew, who was also born a kittypet. His mother gave him to Firestar to take back to the Clans after hearing how much Firestar liked his life there. Although the Clan was very unhappy about this, they eventually came to accept him. He does not believe in [=StarClan=] but is loyal to [=ThunderClan=] and utterly devoted to his mate Brightheart.

The first major antagonist of the series, Brokenstar was a bloodthirsty and hyper-aggressive leader of [=ShadowClan=]. His practice of training kits to fight against full-grown warriors and stealing kits from other Clans lead to [=ThunderClan=] assisting a rebellion against him.

!!Tigerstar

The primary BigBad of the series, at least for the first six books. Tigerstar was a powerful warrior in [=ThunderClan=], but was exiled for attempting to murder Bluestar (in a bid to usurp her leadership). He came across an ailing [=ShadowClan=], which had just lost their leader, and took on the leadership position himself. His goal was to unite the four Clans and gain power over all the forest, and weed out those that he considered unfit to be warriors, such as former kittypets and half-Clan cats. He is eventually killed by Scourge, after foolishly attacking him for "betraying" their alliance.

He currently resides in "The Place of No Stars", and is trying to tempt Firestar's descendants to his ideals. He has some kind of sinister plan in mind against [=StarClan=], and apparently the living cats will play a huge role in it.

!!Crowfeather

A rude and prickly [=WindClan=] warrior, who was among the chosen cats to journey to Midnight and discover the Clans' new home. He is very disagreeable and obnoxious, but softens some after a relationship with Feathertail (he chose his warrior name in honor of her memory). Later, he has a short affair with Leafpool, and [[spoiler:unknowingly fathers Lionblaze, Jayfeather, and Hollyleaf]]. He currently has a mate and son in [=WindClan=], more to prove that he's loyal to the Clan than out of any real feelings, and is distancing himself from [=ThunderClan=].

!!Breezepelt

Leader of [=WindClan=] for the first and part of the second series, Tallstar was already elderly when introduced. He is a fair leader who prefers diplomacy to battle, and is always ready to accept help from others, particularly [=ThunderClan=], who save him several times over the course of the series.

A friend of Firestar's, often meeting him and Graystripe at Gatherings. He was unexpectedly named as Tallstar's successor just prior to the latter's death, catapulting him to being leader of [=WindClan=]. A bloodthirsty and violent cat from the city, and the leader of a gang of strays known as "[=BloodClan=]". An excellent fighter despite his small size, he delights in killing and bloodshed, and is described more or less in terms of pure evil. He serves as the BiggerBad to Tigerstar in the sixth book, and is finally killed by Firestar ([[spoiler:his half-brother]]) during a war over who will own the forest: the four Clans, or [=BloodClan=].

!!Ravenpaw

Formerly a [=ThunderClan=] apprentice, and a good friend of Firestar and Graystripe. Fearing for his life as Tigerclaw began turning the Clan against him, Firestar takes him to live with Barley, a farmcat on the far edge of the Clans' territory. Much preferring his life there, he never does rejoin the Clans, though he remains their ally, even joining them in the battle against [=BloodClan=].

A badger who lives by the ocean, Midnight is, unusually for her species, friendly towards cats and knows [=StarClan=] quite well. It is she who delivers the prophecy that the Clans must move to a new territory, and also helps the Clans out when her fellow badgers make an attack on the Clans.
