** The Venom symbiote though violent and aggressive prefers to let the host be in control instead of taking them over unlike Riot.
** It also does not kill anyone senseless and tends not to try cause property damage.
** It is also horrified as Eddie when Dan tells him that it is killing him clearly did not realised what it was doing to him and does not make the same mistake with Anne when it bonds with her.

* DarkIsNotEvil: While still a monstrous AxCrazy entity, Venom ultimately has its host’s best interests at heart. Indeed, compare its treatment of Eddie to Riot's hosts. While coarse and violent, Venom protects Eddie from the beginning and allows him autonomy even though he could take over Eddie's body at any point. Riot, on the other hand, jumps from host to host, taking full control and using them until they're drained and die before moving on to the next. This is a nod to the comics, where the Venom symbiote was an outcast among its kind because it wanted to form a bond with its hosts that benefited both parties when their species is usually purely parasitic.

* HateSink: Every action he takes oozes with despicableness; from ruining Eddie's life for daring to ask sensitive questions to sacrificing countless homeless people for his unethical experiments to blackmailing (and eventually killing) any employee who has a conscience. The only thing that audience would like about him is that he's Riot, but that is mostly due to the Riot symbiote rather than the actual man.

* CompositeCharacter: The symbiote's at times childlike ignorance and speaking and arguing directly with Eddie were features the Venom symbiote in comics barely ever displayed, and are much more in line with the ComicBook/{{Toxin}} symbiote and its relationship with its first host Pat Mulligan.
