A clone of the extinct Atlas Tiger created by scientists as part of a project to resurrect extinct animals and save endangered ones. However, it was captured by the Radical Destruction Bringer and transformed into a tormented monster.

* ArtEvolution: The second C.O.V. is purely white in colour, unlike the first C.O.V. and Super C.O.V. It's explained in supplemntary sources that the monster was a female of the species, hence the accompanying babies.

A agent of the Radical Destruction Bringer belonging to a group of creatures called Spirit Parasites. It was sent through Gamu's dreams to taunt him in order to lure Gamu to Germany and meet Bizorm. Satanbizor also appeared in the movie ''Series/UltramanTiga, Series/UltramanDyna, & Series/UltramanGaia: The Decisive Battle in Hyperspace'', where it was seen battling Gaia on television (in a world where ''Ultraman Gaia'' is just a TV show) and later appeared in the real world, where it was quickly vanquished.

Once a World War 2 biological warfare researcher named Kondo who developed a mutating serum that he refused to use as a weapon, so the Imperial Army used it on him, turning Kondo into Tsuchikera and forcing him to hide in a lake with only his friend Hirano and daughter Chei as company. Things got worse after Chei was killed in a bombing raid, and moreso in the present when Tsuchikera is mutated by radioactive leakage from the same nuclear testing that had wounded Tigris.

* MusicSoothesTheSavageBeast: Hirano would play Chei's music box to keep Tsuchikera from completely losing his humanity and to calm him down when he got too aggressive towards trespassers.

* SmallRoleBigImpact: Keepsakes of her research data was kept by Gamu and given to Fujimiya, which proves handy in the re-activation of Crisis in the final episode.

A creatures of the same species as Wolf Gas modified with a power-enhancing chip by mysterious aliens. Several of these creatures were sent to implant humans with similar chips to gain control over them.

* KnightOfCerebus: Its appearance [[spoiler:reveals that Crisis was deceiving Fujimiya the whole time, marking the beginning of the second half of the series' story arc as Ultraman Agul and Fujimiya are PutOnTheBus for the next while.]]

The hero of the series, Ultraman Gaia is the third of the 90s wave of Ultraman heroes, but goes in a different direction from all others. Whereas most Ultra heroes are aliens, Gaia is the embodiment of the Earth itself, willed into existence to protect the planet from the Root of Destruction. He also has no time limit nor does he require sunlight, instead drawing his power from the Earth's energies. Ultraman Gaia has also gone on to make appearances in other series.

* AnthropomorphicPersonification: Unlike every single Ultraman before him, Gaia is a literal embodiment of the Earth's will (especially the element of earth itself) to fight against the Root of Destruction and protect all of its inhabitants.

The first AntiHero and blue-bodied Ultraman in the franchise, Ultraman Agul was also born from the will of Earth itself (representing the element of the sea). Like his human host, Hiroya Fujimiya, he believes that humans are as much a threat to Earth as the alien minions of the Root of Destruction are, so unlike Gaia, he pays no heed to human loss of life in his battles and plans on eventually dealing with mankind as well. Ultraman Agul has also made a few reappearances, albeit not as often as Gaia.

A global defense organization established to fight off the Root of Destruction (aka Radical Destruction Bringer) after Alchemy Stars discovered the prediction of its arrival. XIG is the organization's defense branch, with operations taking place in the flying Aerial Base.

A scientific organization of child prodigies founded in the 1980s. They created the Crisis computer in 1997, discovering the prophecy of the Root of Destruction/Radical Destruction Bringer's apocalypse and starting the events of the series. Gamu was a former member of the group.

* AntiHero: Although Fujimiya fights the Root of Destruction like Gamu, he does not care for humanity and plans on eventually dealing with them as well. This frequently leads to conflict between them.

* TakeUpMySword: A variation. Fujimiya still lives [[spoiler:but is visibly hurt from the revelation of being duped by Root of Destruction and relinquished Agul's light to Gaia.]]

A close friend of Hiroya Fujimiya and former member of Alchemy Stars. She created the Crisis Supercomputer that predicted the arrival of the Root of Destruction, which it claimed was humankind. She works closely with Fujimiya in pursuing the goal of destroying humans to protect Earth.

* UndyingLoyalty: Is faithful to Fujimiya's belief and path set by the Crisis, [[spoiler:with said believe was later on revealed as a lie set by the Root of Destruction]].

The head of a cult obsessed with the coming of the Root of Destruction.

The BigBad of the series, an EldritchAbomination who believes that humans are a threat to the universe sends various monsters to destroy the human race.

* AGodAmI: Believes it has the right to judge the human deserves to live or die.
* BigBad: The being that sends monsters and aliens to earth to destroy the human race.

* VillainousBreakdown: [[spoiler:after the humans try to attack him in episode 45, [[TheGlovesComeOff it decides to not play around anymore]] and sent his most powerful minions.]]

The first minion sent out by the mysterious Root of Destruction/Radical Destruction Bringer to annihilate Earth. Another C.O.V. is later sent out in a huge spaceship-like object called a Varsite with hundreds of baby [=C.O.Vs=]. Then, a more powerful variant called Super C.O.V. appears towards the series' end when XIG attempts to attack the Root of Destruction through one of its wormholes.

* NonMaliciousMonster: [[spoiler:The Root of Destruction actually captures [=C.O.Vs.=] from their home planet and drops them off on Earth to let them rampage like panicked animals. Otherwise, they're perfectly peaceful.]]

* GiantSpaceFleaFromNowhere: Whereas almost all of the monsters in the show are most certainly natural inhabitants of Earth or alien minions of the Root of Destruction, Bokurag's origins and allegiances are left unclear.

A deranged eye-like being sent by the Root of Destruction from another dimension that finds our world to be hilarious. It is later resurrected by a Sengoku wizard named Kijuro Mato, who had predicted the arrival of the Radical Destruction Bringer and reincarnated himself in Gan Q's body, hoping to benefit from its coming.

The first of three robot-like entities sent by the Root of Destruction known as Nature Control Machines. Tenkai's purpose was to remake the atmosphere into the Radical Destruction Bringer's liking.

Another monster sent by the Root of Destruction. Lezite's mission was to dig itself into the Earth's core, where its enormous body temperature would cause the Earth to enter a fiery, apocalyptic meltdown.

A starfish-like minion of the Root of Destruction made entirely out of antimatter. It generates a field that converts all matter in its vicinity into antimatter, but XIG and Ultraman Gaia need to be careful, lest the antimatter come in contact with outside matter and destroy the world as a result.

* ColonyDrop: The organic equivalent of one,as the Root of Destruction had redirected it to collide into Earth like an asteroid.

A demon-like minion of the Root of Destruction that uses its lightning-based abilities to create disruptive electromagnetic storms and defeat XIG. A second, more powerful one known as Super Pazuzu later appears alongside Super C.O.V. when XIG attempts to launch a super-missile through a wormhole to attack the Radical Destruction Bringer.

* NonMaliciousMonster: [[spoiler:Revealed in its reappearance, as the monster's species hail from the same planet as C.O.V. and are peaceful there, but the Root of Destruction displaces them on Earth to let them rampage in confusion.]]

Originally the Alchemy Stars' computer Crisis (which had foretold the arrival of the Radical Destruction Bringer), it was transformed into an Algyuros-like entity (complete with turning itself into an Ultraman Gaia clone) by a computer virus [[spoiler:that the forces of the Root of Destruction had sent to fool Fujimiya into trying to destroy humanity]].

* AIIsACrapshoot: [[spoiler:Crisis had been corrupted by the Root of Destruction's minions the day it was built, but with the arrival of Zorlim, Crisis is finally allowed to act on its own accord.]]

* NonMaliciousMonster: Unlike nearly every other extraterrestrial monster in the show, Gokigumon is not a minion of the Root of Destruction and solely came to Earth to make a nest for its babies. However, XIG and Gaia still had to kill it because it was endangering human lives.

* TheManBehindTheMan: [[spoiler:She created the Crisis Ghost, infecting the Crisis supercomputer to become an agent of the Root of Destruction and eventually transform into Meemos.]]

* NonMaliciousMonster: Like Mizunoenoryu, Syazac and Geel, Tigris is the protector of its realm. When it helps Gaia battle Blitz Blots, [[spoiler:XIG realizes that Tigris opposes the forces of the Root of Destruction as much as the humans and Ultramen do, which leads to them accepting the Earth kaiju as allies.]]

* HumongousMecha: A giant alien robot sent by the Root of Destruction. However, its BossSubtitles "Space Capture Mecha-Beast" suggests that it may actually be more of a MechanicalLifeform instead.

Originally a German Alchemy Stars member, Klaus was transformed by the Spirit Parasites into Bizorm to serve the Root of Destruction when he was swayed by the entity to join its cause. Ultraman Gaia battles him in Germany.

* DealWithTheDevil: Klaus Eckhart made one with the Spirit Parasites in order to be able to serve the Root of Destruction, transforming into Bizorm.

* TheMole: Although a member of Alchemy Stars, he was actually in service of the Root of Destruction after the Crisis supercomputer revealed the threat of humans to him and Fujimiya.
* WasOnceAMan: Used to be a German Alchemy Stars member until he was swayed to the side of the Root of Destruction as he believed humans should embrace the Radical Destruction Bringer's power to become greater. He became Bizorm by merging with the Spirit Parasites.

The last of the Nature Control Machines, sent with the purpose of replanting Earth's forests. Its appearance attracted the attention of a cult that worships the Root of Destruction.

* ItCanThink: Unlike Enzan and Tenkai, who were like mindless machines, Shinryoku is fully sentient. However, since it can't really communicate with people in its normal form, it just takes over the body of Yabuki Shiroigai to tell Gamu about the Nature Control Machines' goal to "purify" Earth for the Root of Destruction.
* TheManBehindTheMan: As Shinryoku explains in the body of Yabuki, it sent Tenkai and Enzan to cleanse Earth for the Root of Destruction before deciding to carry out the job by itself.

* AGodAmI: Shinigami believes this, explaining to Fujimiya and Reiko as why the Root of Destruction has decided to destroy Earth. Reiko is quick to point out that he has no right to judge the fate of the planet, but Shinigami doesn't listen.

* ManipulativeBastard: Like Queen Mezard, Shinigami tries to sway Fujimiya to turn his back on humanity once more, except explicitly stating that he should serve the Root of Destruction.

The Root of Destruction itself (or possibly just the most powerful minion of the Radical Destruction Bringer; the show and other sources aren't really clear on this), coming to Earth in one final attempt to destroy Ultraman Gaia, Ultraman Agul, the human race, and the rest of Earth's inhabitants once and for all.

* BigBad: Assuming that she is not a minion of the Radical Destruction Bringer. However, due to the intangible nature of the Root of Destruction, most fans believe Zogu is supposed to be the Root of Destruction, though the show and all books that discuss it are inconsistent about this.
* DragonInChief: Assuming she isn't the Radical Destruction Bringer itself. The problem is the Radical Destruction Bringer is a very vague figure and more of a concept than a character. Some fans believe it refers not to Zogu but is ''all'' the series' alien villains (or just the most important ones).
* EldritchAbomination: Especially with how mysterious the Radical Destruction Bringer is.

The last remaining servant of the Radical Destruction Bringer, appearing a few years after the defeat of Zogu. It began its assault by attacking the underwater civilization of the Rinar hiding in the Celephais Trench before moving to the surface, where Gamu and Fujimiya would have to call upon the powers of Gaia and Agul one last time to defeat it.

* TheHero: He ''is'' the guy who turns into Ultraman Gaia, after all.

* MegaMicrobes: Candea is a mutated form of those deep-sea bacteria that can survive in the anoxic conditions of the seafloor.

* SeaMonster: In this case, its a mutant form of a species of anoxic, bioluminescent bacteria from the darkest trenches of the sea.

* StockSoundEffects: The sounds its homing napalm orbs make are modified from the Pokeball release sounds used in ''Franchise/{{Pokemon}}''!

* FlyingSeafoodSpecial: Its initial form seen hovering over whatever location its using its psychic powers on. Has all the same abilities as the normal Mezard.

* SecondLove: Finds one in Kajio.

* ChestBlaster: Since this version of Mezard stands upright, it gains this ability from the normal Mezard's BackpackCannon.

* {{Technopath}}: The first Psycho Mzard was shown using its powers to tune into the frequencies of radios and the like to spread its mind control waves, while the second one showed the ability to disable machinery with a shower of some kind of particle.

* NonMaliciousMonster: Mizunoeryu isn't evil. The only reason why Ultraman Gaia fights it was because the creature was simply angry about the disruption of its home in the waters underneath Tokyo.

* FightingAShadow: The big issue with it at first: the creature itself exists in another dimension and the entity attacking the city is simply a projection of it rather than it's real self. The only way to actually kill it is to drag it into the physical world where it's vulnerable.
