* EveryoneHasStandards: While it's implied that Marinette deliberately chose a SketchySuccessor to get back at Paris she wasn't so bitter that she chose someone who would screw over the whole world by being bad at the job of fighting Hawkmoth. This is why she's certain that she wouldn't have chosen Chloe or Lila as the new Ladybug; the former would be too lazy and entitled to fight Hawkmoth for long while the latter would almost certainly try to make a Wish for herself. The final chapter [[spoiler:subverts this when it's revealed that she chose Lila as the new Ladybug because she is ''[[SanitySlippage that]]'' full of spite and made a NoteToSelf as one of the titular two letters gloating about it, even asking her current self to please ask Lila to get especially nasty with Chloe. Even then, it also notes that she did keep the Cat Miraculous as insurance if Lila really did go rogue.]]

* ItSucksToBeTheChosenOne: Marinette's time as Ladybug has left her a traumatized wreck who deliberately passes Luka over for the position because she would never want to inflict that on him.
* JerkassHasAPoint: The story makes clear that she has some understandable and discernible reasons to not like certain other characters and thus like the fact that the new Ladybug it’s screwing them over, [[spoiler:but in the end the story falls on the side of "[[DeconstructedTrope too much Jerkass, not enough of a Point]]", especially with [[DisproportionateRetribution how bad the Jerkass has become]].]]

** While she is practicing CartesianKarma towards everybody that has been akumatized, including genuinely good people who had a MomentOfWeakness and even her own parents, she's not exactly wrong that it seems like no one is even trying to resist [[DealWithTheDevil dealing with Hawkmoth]] or even taking steps to try and avoid getting to the point that they'll be targeted at all. There are repeat offenders, like Xavier Ramier who refuses to do ''something'' besides just being akumatized as a way to deal with his issues, and several people have been akumatized over trivial and petty matters.

The current bearer of the Ladybug Miraculous. This heroine has done an excellent job of keeping the city free from akumas, but her motives could hardly be called altruistic. [[spoiler:She is actually Lila Rossi]].

Ladybug's partner, who fights alongside her with his athleticism and his Cataclysm. [[spoiler:He is actually a sentimonster.]]

* [[spoiler: ActuallyADoombot: He's actually a sentimonster created by Felix, though Felix occasionally takes his place using Trixx's illusion power]].

The tormentor of Paris. Or one of them, anyways. [[spoiler:In reality, there is no longer a Hawkmoth. Felix is pretending to be him by using the Fox and Peacock Miraculouses so that he can set up fights to advance Lila's and his mutual objectives.]]

* LegacyCharacter: Chapter 4 reveals that Gabriel Agreste died about three months after Marinette retired and three months before the present day. However, someone has taken up his mantle and is continuing to attack Paris.

That being said, Marinette is also sure that Kagami would be too honorable to ever pull the grift that the current Ladybug is.

* [[NiceGuy Nice Girl]]: Luka notes that it's wrong for Marinette to scare her or even be mad at her over her one akumatization, which was done for a sympathetic reason and which doesn't change her fundamentally decent nature.

* HarmlessVillain: {{Downplayed}}. Marinette believes that if she were the new Ladybug, she would have already made the Wish and destroyed the world. However, Marinette views her initial schtick of tall tales and lies to be so insignificant compared to the akumas that she stopped caring after a few weeks.
* ItsAllAboutMe: According to Marinette, Lila is so selfish that if she had the Earrings, she would have already stolen the Ring from Chat Noir and either made a Wish of her own or sold the Miraculouses to Hawkmoth. As far as she's concerned, the fact that the world still exists is proof-positive that Lila doesn't have the Earrings or access to the Ring.

* OnceDoneNeverForgotten: Takes this attitude towards everyone who's been akumatized, with the apparent exception of Luka. [[spoiler: The final chapter even shows she calls people by their akuma names in her own mind and not just deliberately out loud because she's gone ''insane'' and the only reason Luka is an exception is because [[ItsAllAboutMe he got akumatized on her behalf.]]

* ManipulativeBastard: [[spoiler: To Luka, Lila and Felix and, since the second letter lied about the Princess Justice incident, ''her own post-amnesia self.'' For Luka she's barely able to hide her disdain for Paris and the former akumas but is able to convince him that she will try to put it behind her and heal (while musing to herself that it's unlikely she ever will.) For Lila and Felix she not only outright threatens them at several points but also tricked them into thinking she got rid of the Black Cat Miraculous; she further tricks Luka into buying a disguised Cat Miraculous for her so she has complete deniability about having it... in case she needs to make the Wish in case Luka ever stops being the "perfect boyfriend."]]

* OnceDoneNeverForgotten: Takes this attitude towards everyone who's been akumatized, with the apparent exception of Luka.

* ManipulativeBastard: Marinette firmly sees Adrien as this. She believes that he never truly loved her - that he was simply toying with her feelings and leading her on both as Chat Noir and Adrien, as when she finally decided to give him a chance as Ladybug, he lost interest in her and began pursuing her civilian self - just as she had given up on Adrien. Adrien states that this was simply a coincidence, but Marinette doesn't believe in.

* OutGambited: The story begins with a few clues that she is making moves to correct the bad situation in Paris. [[spoiler:We then are told in the second letter that Marinette gave Lila the Ladybug Miraculous partially as a BatmanGambit to draw Bunnyx to the present with the lure of an extremely bad situation, then disvested her of the Rabbit Miraculous and ''destroyed it'' to make damn sure that her revenge would not be stopped]].

* DeconstructedCharacterArchetype: She is not only an example of the "Saltinette" FandomSpecificPlot, but by the time the story ends it's clear that she is a rare example of "Marinette Dupain-Cheng decides life's a bitch and so will she" [[spoiler:turning her into a full-blown VillainProtagonist and even being PlayedForHorror]].
