* AffablyEvil: Very polite in manner to those he respects.
* AntiVillain: From what we've seen so far in "Evolution", he doesn't appear to be all that evil. He only attacks the Autobots to protect his "brethren" [[spoiler: and turns on the Decepticons when he learns they are ultimately responsible for the destruction of his kind, stopping the NoHoldsBarredBeatdown he was delivering to Ratchet to do so.]]

* {{Badass}}: By far the most powerful warrior in the show. Especially shown during "Evolution", where he takes down both Wheeljack and Ultra Magnus. Had Optimus not pulled a BigDamnHeroes moment, he would have killed them.
** And even more amazingly, he managed to beat ''Optimus Prime'' in a straight-on fight spanning "Minus One" and ''Persuasion''. Yes, the same Optimus Prime who can go toe-to-toe with Megatron on a regular basis.
** Later in ''Synthesis'', he faces off against [[spoiler:Megatron after learning the truth about his treachery from Ratchet.]] During the fight, he clearly had the advantage. Had [[spoiler:Starscream not distracted him long enough for Megatron to throw him out the airlock]], he would've won. In ''Predacons Rising'', he's the only combatant par Optimus to [[spoiler:hold his own against a Unicron-possessed Megatron]].

** BadassBoast: Gives an epic one to Optimus during their fight in ''Persuasion''.

* BewareTheNiceOnes: AffablyEvil as he may be, do ''not'' give him any reason to wish your destruction.
* BiggerIsBetter: Mostly played straight, but in two instances his size has proven a drawback since it means he has difficulty maneuvering in confined spaces.

* TheBrute: Considering who he's inheriting it from, in [[BigGuyFatalitySyndrome the kind of show so far]], he's by far the most powerful Decepticon warrior.

* TheDogBitesBack: After Starscream tries whacking him for disobedience one times too many, he promptly knocks the Seeker back, transforms into a giant Cybertronian and threatens him with death.

* ItCanThink: Foreshadowed at the end of "Prey", when Starscream's derisive remarks about Predaking being unable to speak or explain why it failed to bring back the Autobots resulted in the beast staring right at him, seemingly contemplating his words (they don't seem to put him in a good mood). Of course, the toyline kinda spoiled the fact that he (not it) is a sapient character with a robot mode of his own long before he appeared in the show. Further demonstrated in "Chain of Command", where he knocks away an incoming grenade that Wheeljack tried to throw into his mouth and recognized the bone fragment of a fellow Predacon, and later, in "Plus One", he watches Starsceam enter an override code on the communications array, then uses that code to access the ship's database so he can learn everything the Decepticons know of the Predacons.

** [[spoiler:One of the trailers for Project Predacon has shown two more on Cybertron, subverting it. Indeed, Darksteel and Skylynx go on to serve him.]]

* OhCrap: Just before [[spoiler: Megatron blasts him out of the ''Nemesis''. ]]

* UnskilledButStrong: When fighting Optimus and [[spoiler: Megatron]] in his robot mode, it is, not surprisingly, shown that he doesn't have much actual skill in a fist fight, but his sheer strength makes that moot point.

* TheVoiceless: Being an animal, it can't do much more than growl and roar. This is lampshaded by Starscream, who snarks at its inability to explain its failure to terminate the Autobots when first deployed. Subverted in "Evolution", which reveals it, or rather he, can talk.
** He apparently, however, can't speak in his dragon mode.
* WingedHumanoid: In robot mode.

Getting slammed into a cliff face at high speed only stunned him. Even being frozen solid in the Arctic only kept him down until the storm finally passed and the sun came out.

* TheJuggernaut: Nothing has ever actually hurt him. This includes blasters, punches, grenades, katanas, ship-mounted cannons, the Forge of Solus Prime, burying him under rocks, and the detonation of an entire Energon mine. Ultra Magnus had to bash Predaking into a cliff face while he was hanging onto his ship just to delay the Predacon long enough for an escape. Even using the Apex Armor against him leaves the wearer nothing more than a glorified chew toy, though it does offer protection against his attacks.

At the end of "Plus One", he accesses the ''Nemesis''' database in order to learn everything the 'Cons know about Predacons.
** And when it's revealed that he can talk, he turns out to be quite well-spoken and eloquent.

They will have a huge role in Predacons Rising as one of the antagonist.
