* DirtyCop: Several officers, up to the commissioner, as revealed in ''Zero'' are on the take of several mafia and {{Corrupt Politician}}s, which does not help with their reputation. A good chunk of them are discharged following the end of ''Zero'' due to the massive political upheaval caused by [[spoiler:the Gnosis incident]].

* PoliceAreUseless: Have this reputation. Due Crossbell's status as a buffer state, the political need to keep balance between the pro-Empire, pro-Republic, and anti-Both factions, and the fact that many of the major criminal groups have ties to one of those factions to allow them to bribe their way out of trouble (and the government's limited ability to arrest and hold foreign nationals), the police basically ''isn't allowed'' to be useful. This has resulted in the public putting more trust in the bracers, who aren't hamstrung by the highly corrupt government, than in the police force, much to the frustration of several competent members of the force. Even in ''Azure'', a TerribleTrio of [[UpperClassTwit Upper-Class Twits]] are allowed to [[DrivesLikeCrazy rampage across Crossbell's roads]] with little more than fines and slaps on the wrist for most of the game because they're Calvardian, and karma only catches up to them because of Dieter's reforms.

* CrutchCharacter: As a result of his experience, he tend to have this role when he join the party as a GuestStarPartyMember. Notable examples in ''Azure'' are in the Prologue (where he serves as this while being overshadowed by Arios) and in Chapter 2.

* CurtainsMatchTheWindows: His hair and eyes are both dark green in color.

* EleventhHourRanger: Is the last playable to character to officially join the party in ''Azure''.

* GuestStarPartyMember: In ''Zero'', he temporarily joins the party [[spoiler:to investigate Revache's building]].
* TheGunslinger: Is the only male playable character of the Crossbell Arc who fights with firearms, whereas the others all fight primarily in melee. That said, he isn't above getting up close and personal as his Victory Charge Craft has him striking the enemies with a souped up rugby tackle, while his S-Craft Justice Hammer consists of a MegatonPunch.

* JadedProfessional: It's made clear that a strong part of his prickly demeanour is a result of having to deal with the rampant corruption in Crossbell's government that have reduced the police ineffectual and allowed several criminals to walk free without consequence ''for years''.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Starts off rude and standoffish to the SSS, seeing them as naive rookies way in over their heads. But as time goes on, and they prove their capabilities and convictions, he starts to warm up to them.
* JurisdictionFriction: Comes into conflict at times with the SSS over jurisdiction, outright taking over a case from them in Chapter 1 of ''Zero'' involving [[spoiler:a mafia backed plot to assassinate the mayor]] as it falls under the 1st Division's purview. Conversation with other officers, confirm that he has done so with other cases in the past, and also clashes with the Bracer Guild over this as well.

** About shoes. He is quite picky about his leather shoes and have them tailor-mades, and when Lloyd comment that he mostly wears sneakers, [[SeriousBusiness he explains the advantages of his shoes compared to Lloyd]].

** His reactions when [=KeA=] gets his name wrong and calls him a grumpy old man were utterly comical.

* ThatOneCase: As he reveal in ''Zero'', Guy Bannings's murder is this to him as the man was essentially [[TheRival his rival.]]
* TwoFirstNames: His last name, Dudley, is a common English first name.

* AlcoholInducedIdiocy: At one point, he wakes up after a drunken stupor to find he's lost his wedding ring. Lloyd and Tio are forced to ask Zeit to use his scent to retrace his steps, finding a wild and meandering journey round the Entertainment District and Back Alley with stories of incoherent babbling about his wife that ends with him flirting with a hostess and ''giving her the missing ring''.

* MistakenForCheating: A sidequest in ''Azure'' has him talk the SSS into trailing his wife, thinking that she was cheating on him with another man. It turns out the man she was meeting was a real estate agent offering her a new property near Mishelam she could live on her own.

* GuestStarPartyMember: During a sidequest to (once again) arrest the elderly counterfeitter, Raymond briefly assists the player in battle as an NPC ally, armed with his gun.
