After her accident, he sent her to a prestigious boarding school for blind children in America, in hopes that it would help her overcome her disability. While she was there, he called her on the phone as often as he could and made sure her aunt checked up on her regularly.

* NouveauRiche: He became wealthy very quickly because he owned a profitable mine, so Nina spent her early childhood in the lap of luxury.

* DistressedDamsel: Karim spends the entire season season trying to find her after her grandmother reported her missing.

* TheSociopath: He was fully aware that [[spoiler: the empty house is full of poisonous gases and knowingly tricked a bunch of kids into going inside to figure out the house's puzzles. He doesn't care how many lives to be ruined or cut short for him to get to the other side of the rose stained glass window]].
