As a result, Janja becomes Scar's primary instrument of active malice, but it quickly becomes obvious that Scar and ~~Zira were,~~ Ushari would prefer a more competent person to actually carry out their plans.
* HeinousHyena: He's a spotted hyena who's a VillainousGlutton and just plain nasty. To the point that he believes that all hyenas should be rotten and mean, which is why he loathes Jasiri.
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: Janja wanted to have Scar brought back so that he could aid him in getting food. In "Swept Away", Scar and Ushari effectively usurp the leadership of his clan, infuriating him.
* {{Hypocrite}}: He attacks Jasiri when she enters his territory and is angry when she marks part of it when he forgets to redo it for the dry season but at he has no respect for the Pridelands boundaries and will frequently invade the turf to try and eat the inhabitants.
