* SparedByTheAdaptation: Though he doesn't die in the books, Katniss mentions that once she and Peeta are able to take care of themselves, Haymitch basically drinks what's left of District 12 dry before disappearing from their lives forever (and quite possible just drinking himself to death somewhere else). The film ends his story short of this downbeat outcome, and adds a hinted RelationshipUpgrade with Effie, and shows him sharing a meal with Katniss and Peeta, making Haymitch's future prospects seem much happier in the film than the book.

* NonActionGuy: She is neither built nor is a physical fighter, but what she lacks in brawn she makes up for with her brain.

* DiesDifferentlyInAdaptation: [[spoiler:Both versions have him finished off alongside the lizard mutts by the Holo device's self-explosion, but prior to that his book counterpart has him get decapitated by the lizard mutts, while in the film, the mutts are trying to rip him apart and devoured alive.]]

* SpikyHair: Sports an anime-like hairstyle in CatchingFire. In Mockingjay, it's toned down a bit.

Tributes District 5 who compete in the Third Quarter Quell.

* AbusiveParents: [[WordOfSaintPaul Cashmere's actor, Stephanie Schlund, states]] that the siblings parents were extremely hard on them.

* FauxActionGirl: Almost as bad as Glimmer in the novel. Being a previous victor of a Hunger Games and being popular within the Capitol to receive a lot of sponsors, Haymitch described her and Gloss as lethal. While she was the one who killed Seeder, it was offscreen. So in all of what's shown of her in the arena proper, she was unceremoniously killed by Johanna before she could do anything.

* ManBitesMan: Her preferred method of combat -- killing people with her cosmetically-sharpened ''teeth''.
* PetTheDog: Despite being a brute, she does take part in holding hands with Katness and the other tributes before being forced back into the Hunger Games.

* KilledMidSentence: [[spoiler:Wiress was killed in the middle of her singing "Hickory-Dickory Dock. This alerted Katniss and the others that the Careers arrived.]]
* InSeriesNickname: Called "Nuts" (alongside Beetee being "Volts") by Johanna due to her appearing to be "not all there". However she's a lot more intelligent than she looks.

* AdaptationalModesty: For the Quarter Quell tribute parade outfit, the book has him dressed in nothing but a draped gold fishing net knotted over his loins. In the film he has his lower half mostly wrapped up by a material resembling fish scale and belted at his waist.

* ActionGirl: As a past tribute. She won her games by pretending to be weak and helpless until the last few tributes remains when she drops the facade and murders them all.

* ClusterFBomb: In the second film, she delivers one on live-television.

* DefrostingIceQueen: When she's introduced, she acts as little more than a {{jerkass}}. However, she becomes somewhat nicer later on, as well as more sympathetic, especially when it turns out that [[spoiler:she's one of the tributes in on the operation from District 13 to break out Katniss]].

* {{Foil}}: She's basically Katniss, if all of her loved ones were killed off and she is all alone, right down to being the only female victor in her district. At one point, Katniss wonders if Johanna's treatment of her is what it's like to have an older sister that ''hates'' you.

* NakedOnArrival: Not exactly, but the first thing she does on-screen is complain about her costume and strip down to her slippers. And then get in an elevator with Katniss and Peeta, chatting casually the whole way up.

* TraumaticHaircut: Implied when she shows up again in ''Mockingjay'' after being tortured by the capitol. She is now completely shaved.

* WillNotBeAVictim: To the point she's interested in seeing the Capitol victimized.

* KilledOffScreen: [[spoiler:He dies during the blood rain, his cannon did wake up Katniss though.]]

* RedHerring: Haymitch goes out of his way to introduce Chaff to Katniss, suggests him as an ally, and we see him teasing her the same way her eventual allies, Finnick and Johanna, do. Chaff has absolutely no bearing on the plot despite surviving almost to the end of the Games and dies off-screen with no fanfare.
* WeHardlyKnewYe: He survives nearly to the end of the Games, but receives very little focus and when he does die, it's offscreen.

* AdaptationDyeJob: In the books he's described as dark haired (the "Seam look"), but in the movie he's very blond.

* MasterOfDisguise: The female's talent. She uses it to appear from thin air in order to protect Peeta. Haymitch said this is how both the morphlings won their games.

* {{Foil}}: She's Katniss, if Katniss didn't have a younger sister to care for, right down to being the only female victor in her district. At one point, Katniss wonders if Johanna's treatment of her is what it's like to have an older sister that ''hates'' you.
