* SeriouslyScruffy: He originally had PermaStubble as part of his gruff, hard-bitten detective look and dressed in a utilitarian yet still stylish way, complete with a WaistcoatOfStyle. By the time ''2'' rolls around, he's let it grow into a scruffy BeardOfSorrow and is dressed down in a beat-up army jacket, as indicators of what a dark place he's been stuck in from the emotional trauma he suffered both before ''and'' after his experiences in the previous game.

Dewicking as Static Character is now Definition Only.

* StaticCharacter: Played straight and then subverted. In the first game, Sebastian was a hard boiled detective with a troubled past who sometimes bent the rules. He also drank excessively and smoked. He wore typical clothing associated with detectives and had slick back hair. Essentially, he was every classical stereotype of a detective. Kidman even points this out as a lampshade. In the second game, Sebastian has been fired from the force, is still drinking, still obsessed with his past, and on the edge. Yet here he's suffering heavily from PTSD, he acts with less emotion except when drunk and yet, he has nerves of steel. He's seen it all and reacts with less horror to everything, but his PapaWolf tendencies are really revealed. His past is reviewed and expanded on. His dry wit has hit new extremes and his dissociation and depression have been heightened. Yet he is still very empathic despite becoming very cautious around people. His relationship with Kidman and Tatiana is expanded on. He took upon himself before the events of the first game to train Kidman himself despite the risks associated with taking a rookie on high profile cases. Even here, while in the hell of STEM, he can still find joy and some companionship. He even drops pop culture references and really enjoys the shooting gallery and he releases his grief on Kidman, really opening up to her. He has significant character development even as his past motivations are expanded on and it really shows him in a whole new light instead of the flat generic good guy character we got from the first game.
