* {{Irony}}: The reason he became head of the MCA is to become part of the cult yet he actually came very close to crippling if not possibly defeating Shadow Garden despite not opposing them directly since not only did he not know that Mitsugoshi is their public font and source of income, but his plan to create a credit collapse would have worked if Cid didn't start making counterfeits first.

* SelfFulfillingProphecy: He is convinced by the philosophy "If you don't want anything robbed from you, you have to rob from others" which he started by raiding Yukime's village after they refused to join the cult. However, from that moment onward, Gettan's life slowly spiraled down the drain and he eventually loses everything precisely ''because'' of his philosophy starting with his village, his adoring fiance, his [[EyeScream eyesight]], his company's assets and finally his life. In short, if he hadn't tried to rob from others, they would have never thought of robbing him in the first place.

* WellIntentionedExtremist: He made a deal with the evil cult with the intention of protecting his tribe and lover. Unfortunately, his murdering Yukime's mother and trying to attack her renders this moot.
