Just ''surviving'' the Moonshadow elves' assault while the moon is out would be enough to qualify, but once they're down to just Ruunan, he hardly looks worse for the wear.
* BigBrotherBully: A mild case, but he sits back and watches as a distracted Claudia almost walks into a tree. He grumbles at Callum being no fun when the latter warns her. He also picks on Callum too, but that’s about as far as it goes.
* BigBrotherInstinct: While he and his sister do butt heads often, when she comes back to their room in tears having told Callum the truth about King Harrow Soren is immediately up with his sword, demanding to know what Callum did to hurt his sister. He may tease her a lot, but he doesn't want to see her hurt.

* HiddenDepths: He's actually very accepting of the consequences of his mistakes. He knew attacking the dragon was wrong and was ready to face being paraplegic as payment for that error. He also doesn't like dark magic due to how disqusting sacrificing living creatures is and only goes along with it due to how much it helps his sister or when he doesn't know what it requires, like when Claudia never tells him she sacrificed the life force of a baby animal or that the spell corrupted her when she healed his spine, since the whole reason he was happy being paralyzed is that he'd never be responsible for something horrible again.
* HonorBeforeReason: Despite knowing how dangerous elves can be, Soren can't bring himself to hurt Rayla while she's asleep, telling Claudia that it wasn't "sporting" and asks her to wake Rayla up for a fair fight.
* ICantFeelMyLegs: After taking a hit from the dragon, he slams into a nearby rock and begs his sister for help. When she tries to get him to move, he tells her in a terrified voice that he can't move.
* JerkJock: He's a bit full of himself about his physical appearance and prowess and lazy, but he's a JerkWithAHeartOfGold.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Despite being rude to Callum and often bringing up how he was the king's [[InsistentTerminology step-son]] and not his real son, he was willing to go easy on him so he could impress Claudia. Also, when the elves make their ambush toward the king's chambers, he protectively shoves Callum away from the danger.
* LockedOutOfTheLoop: He is not aware that his father has told Claudia to retrieve the egg at any cost, even at the cost of Soren's own life. She keeps this information from him.
* NobleTopEnforcer: He's Viren's son and top man, but shows none of his father's malice or greed.
* PetTheDog: He may be a mocking instructor but it's evident he sees it as tough love and he lets Callum pretend to stab him to impress Claudia.

* ShipTease: A minor one with Rayla. He thinks she's into him at first, but Claudia immediately tells him that Rayla's just suspicious of him.

* ActionGirl: A powerful mage who can always be trusted to carry out a mission.
* {{Adorkable}}: She may look like a BlackMagicianGirl, but functionally she's more a magic nerd, adorable awkwardness and all. Her first introduction shows her so engrossed in her book she would have walked right into a tree had Callum not warned her.
* AmbiguousDisorder: She appears to have some difficulty understanding and telling jokes and once was so absorbed in a book, she nearly walked into a tree. She also seems to have trouble with certain social cues and subtleties, such as assuming others will understand what her gestures mean. She also doesn't seem to have much restraint when it comes to sacrificing living creatures for her dark magic, something Callum thought was creepy about her even before their relationship got destroyed.
* AntiVillain: She and Soren are only trying to stop the trio because they're led to believe that the princes don't know what they're doing, and they believe that their father, Lord Viren, has good intentions.
* BadPowersGoodPeople: While she is an antagonist, Claudia is for the most part a good person. She is also very proficient at Dark Magic, a type of magic that takes the lives of of living creatures and turns it into spells. It is considered unspeakably vile by Elves and Dragons, even among humans it's not exactly well liked. The problem is that casting dark magic involves doing terrible things, and her increasingly difficult circumstances lead her to make more mortally questionable choices to the point in the season 2 finale where she tricks Ezran and syphons the life out of a baby deer to fix Sorin's spine.
* BigSisterInstinct: She protects Callum and Ezran when she finds them with Rayla and the Dragon Prince and thinks that Rayla is trying to trick them. When she and Ezran talk alone, despite what happened early in season 2 that would give either of them a good reason to not want to be friendly towards the other, Claudia is accepting and kind to Ezran throughout it all. She even reassures him that if he's having a hard time talking about his father that he doesn't need to say anything if it hurts him too much.
* BlackEyesOfEvil: Subverted. She has black eyes after performing dark magic, but she is far from evil, being the closest thing the villains have to a TokenGoodTeammate and being unaware of the malice in her father's plans.
* BlackMagicianGirl: She leans toward this trope while also having some LadyOfBlackMagic traits. She's actually a little older than Callum, and he has a crush on her, but she's still a teenager and [[DorkKnight a total dork]], despite also being elegantly dressed and a scarily-competent [[LifeEnergy Dark Magic]] prodigy.
* CallARabbitASmeerp: She's concucted a coffee-like potion that she calls "hot brown morning potion".
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: Claudia's a bit... odd. Her father has to remind her that he "doesn't speak Claudia" when she starts getting excited over something.
* CrazyPrepared: Has a lot of items for her spells stowed in her bag, to the point where her brother asks in disgust why she carries certain things. However, the one time she doesn't have anything useful is when Soren's body becomes paralyzed.
* DarkActionGirl: Defied. She's working for her father (who's the BigBad) and can use dark magic, but she comes off as {{Adorkable}} and well-meaning.
* DarkIsNotEvil: She wears dark clothes and studies dark magic, but doesn't seem that bad, offering her brother some of her "hot brown morning potion" when she notices how sleep-deprived he was. She also is friendly acquaintance of the two princes, and protective of Ezran.
* DoesNotLikeSpam: If her reaction to Ezran's jelly handprints are anything to go by, Claudia doesn't like persimmons.
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: Her first appearance nearly has her walk face first into a tree that has been in the same spot for centuries. Her pragmatic, magical side is later quickly established when her father briefs her on the assassination plot on King Harrow.
* {{Gasshole}}: Her brother comments that her horse farted while he was downwind, and she gleefully replies it wasn't the horse.
* GeniusDitz: Despite being a prodigy on the magic arts, Claudia is eccentric and ditzy to a degree that her father has trouble accompanying her line of thought when she gets too excited. She is also prone to silly mistakes and is often distracted easily.

* LikeParentLikeChild: Draining the fawn to heal Soren shows that she is capable of making the same kinds of bloody life-or-death, calculus decisions that Viren is. Whether she continues down that path remains to be seen.

Rayla points that not only did Callum hurt her feelings by calling her a "bloodthirsty elf" and a "monster", and she was nearly shot with an arrow.

* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Downplayed. Callum has a tendency to be somewhat insensitive to the feelings of others and has been noted act like a "jerk", but not to the point he plays this trope straight. He's shown to be compassionate, brave, and protective of his loved ones, as well as having the humility to admit his mistakes.

* AffectionateNickname: "Ez", from Callum. Claudia also uses it, and in time Rayla starts using it, too.

** While he tries to put it as gently as possible, Callum initially doesn't believe Rayla's suspicions of Soren and Claudia because they've been his friends longer while he and Rayla don't have that kind of bond yet. It may be cold and both Rayla and Callum are obviously at the end, but he makes a fair point -- Rayla has yet to give evidence of the siblings' ill intentions and Callum isn't just going to trust someone (Rayla) he's known little over a week against people who he states are his childhood friends.
