* HealingFactor: As a RequiredSecondarySuperpower, oddly enough. Rikudou's brainwashing and gradual forced deterioration of her psyche and ego eventually lead to less of a fixation on the human form for shapeshifting, which allows her to effectively shapeshift spare body parts for herself. It's a pretty limited healing factor though due to conservation of mass working against her: She can make a new brain for herself if her head explodes, but only about twice before she's lost too much weight to use her ability anymore. This limitation is not immediately obvious, however, which intimidates her enemies.

* BigBadWannabe: While he's a genuine threat to Amemiya Hiroto and the Bravers, his plans are destined to fail from the beginning given that he attracted the enmity of both the God of Origin ''and'' Rodcorte. Okay, sure, not really the end of the world, but then you have to remember that in his next life he won't have the advantage of [[VillainWithGoodPublicity a good public image]] and will be horribly outclassed with genuine gods and monsters running about. [[spoiler:Sure enough, he ends up as little more than a footnote for an ever greater being.]]

[[spoiler:Sure enough, Every time he ends powers up as little more than or acts smug the story always has a footnote for an ever greater being.]]sense of irony about it: He's only getting this far because "Banda" doesn't care enough to stop him. And Banda only has a fraction of Van's strength and only some of his abilities.

* InferioritySuperiorityComplex: He's obsessed with power and godhood in large part due to a secret inferiority complex over how plain his ability is. Yes, it's very powerful to be able to grow without limitation, but it lacks a lot impact compared to stuff like slowing down time or shutting off magic in the area.

Yes, it's very powerful to be able to grow without limitation, but it lacks a lot impact compared to stuff like slowing down time or shutting off magic in the area. He also doesn't want to just be the best, he wants everyone to ''know'' that he's the best.

Added DiffLines:

* TheStarscream: Before the Undead appeared he was basically harmless and still a force for good. That being said, he ''did'' initially plan to take Amemiya's position in order to feed his own ego, but this probably would have only been better for Origin given Amemiya's incompetence.
* StartOfDarkness: While he always had an inferiority complex and a need to be seen as the best, he didn't actually have the intention of bothering anyone (mostly) until he realized that death attribute magic was both unique ''and'' could potentially make him immortal. This set off his full schemes when before he was perfectly content to just try and take over the Bravers. This would technically make him TheStarscream, except that there's no indication he would have been violent about it and a lot of evidence to support the idea he would have done better than Amemiya.

* DidntSeeThatComing: Rikudou's game plan for the entire story was to use death-attribute research to make himself and his supporters immortal, and thus [[GodhoodSeeker become a living god]] with his Unlimited Development and Increased Learning Speed abilities. He didn't anticipate that [[spoiler: using death-attribute magic for that purpose effectively turned him into a ''god of death''- and thus, once he rendered his supporters immortal (i.e. ''divorced'' from death) they immediately registered as so repellant to his senses that he forwent PragmaticVillainy to just wipe all of them out.]]

Felt a character's last moments on Origin deserved to qualify for Dying Moment Of Awesome.

Added DiffLines:

* DyingMomentOfAwesome: In Origin, he took advantage of his last seconds while aware of ''being decapitated'' to flood the telepathic network he was in with hopefully-helpful Clairvoyance readouts, instead of calling for already-too-late help or begging for his life.

* HeroOfAnotherStory: For the Bravers in Origin.

to:

* HeroOfAnotherStory: For He's pretty much a stock isekai protagonist with massive transmigration buffs and has a successful career as what amounts to a professional superhero. However, at first we only see his mistakes and failures and later on mostly see him indirectly via his children, who are more directly involved with the Bravers in Origin.''actual'' protagonist.

* PerspectiveFlip: Normally, an isekai story would have a character like him as the protagonist, follow his progress, and rarely show anything about the people he directly influences, justifying his less than stellar actions or bone-headed decisions with some well-scripted narrative or bailing him out via pure luck justifying his actions. In this case, the narrative pays little attention to what he sees and hears, but only focuses on the ''outcome'' of his actions and decisions, and how other people, particularly his victims, see him.

Added DiffLines:

* SympatheticPOV: Inverted. Normally, an isekai story would have a character like him as the protagonist, follow his progress, and rarely show any negative consequences to his actions. Any less than brilliant decisions would turn out justified via pure luck or narrative convenience. However, without that protagonist filter, a lot of his seemingly intelligent and moral decisions have disastrous or at best unforeseen consequences. He really ''is'' trying his best and usually succeeds, but unfortunately we mostly see his failures.

* AMindIsATerribleThingToRead: Effectively. She can see through all lies, illusions, forgeries and sleight of hand, which destroyed many of her relationships and left her rather isolated. Knowing what people really think isn't fun at all, especially for someone that was a fan of innocent things like stage magicians. However, if she doesn't ask important questions, she doesn't have to hear people lie to her, which is how she coped with it. This came back to bite her when she failed to ask Kanako questions that would reveal her JediTruth answer to 'what is your ability?'

* LogicalWeakness: His [Gungnir] is indeed very versatile, but he can't bypass Spirit forms since it would also make his own spirit phase out of his body effectively killing him, nor he can designate the body of an enemy as target because he would be unable to harm them. He also can't make himself bypass the air since he still have to breath, nor the floor since he would continue plumeting to the core of the planet.

* CannotTellFictionFromReality: While he was never a great person - he was murdered in revenge for harvesting and selling off the organs of an ally's mother - the reason he's as bad as he is in Lambda boils down to not taking the world seriously. The Status and Job systems comes across as jokes to him and leave him with the feeling that nothing in this world is real. The way to counter this would have been to actually grow up here and form some level of human connection to the people here, but he lacked the patience to take this approach and instead lived a short life full of nothing but instant gratification and the absolute fastest possible path to assassinating Van.

* LogicalWeakness: His [Death Scythe] ability allows him to stop the body functions of anything he has eye-contact with, which is mostly useless against Undead who no longer have body functions he can stop.

Her ability makes it basically impossible to track her down, so the remaining trio reluctantly realize that they have to let her go, especially since it's clear she won't defect to Van either.

* AtLeastIAdmitIt: He and Heinz have many parallels, but Hiroto does have a redeeming feature Heinz does not. Hiroto is willing to admit his flaws and address them, rather than trying to shift the blame and professing he's changed when he hasn't. Hiroto is also willing to face the consequences and the recriminations of his victims rather than getting defensive and and belligerent when they call him out. It's the primary reason Van is willing to let him redeem himself as opposed to singling him out for revenge.
