* BareFistedMonk: Unlike other characters, he can not wield any weapons, but he has a completely unique set of unarmed attacks.
* BigEater: Has an entire table dedicated to himself at the end game banquet.
* DudeNotFunny: He tends to make side comments that other characters point out are inappropriate.
* HappilyMarried: He's raising three children with his wife, who he claims is the prettiest penguin in the world.
* JokeCharacter: Serves as the party's comedic relief and has poor stats compared to every other playable character. Downplayed in gameplay in that he can become decent if you put enough effort into him, but he will never be as useful as any of the other characters and is never significant in story due to...
* LateCharacterSyndrome: Unlike Shiki and Matilda, he's under geared when initially found. His stats are also underwhelming, predominantly focused towards tanking, when going full offense is how most parties would be configured during the late game. His quotes during scenarios aren't taken seriously, so he never provides any insightful input to the plot.
* OvershadowedByAwesome: He's the most powerful penguin in the world and renowned among his own people, but outclassed by other members of the party.
* RunningGag: He tends to get ignored in conversations.
* SlidingScaleOfGameplayAndStoryIntegration: His aforementioned RunningGag. Because he's optional and easily missed without map exploration, ignoring him makes it possible to have him provide input in scenarios he might have been missed.

* BystanderSyndrome: He generally subscribes to a TrueNeutral philosophy towards life, citing how forcing change can make things worse. However he sympathizes with Rachel and will occasionally do what she wants.

* ChaoticGood: Of the 'Freedom is Goodness' type. Ascribes to a rather anarchist/liberalization viewpoint. Among the Signimancy guild and throughout the story, Rachel frequently makes choices that she believes are right despite what the law, the rules, or Gene says.

* ArcherArchetype: By default she's geared and skilled as one. However the player is not forced to keep her this way.

* HartmanHips: Her default standing pose. She sways her hips at a slight angle with a resting hand on them. No other character does this.

* TheyDo: In the ending, she and Galil are shown to be an official couple.

* EverythingsBetterWithPenguins: A member of the Penguin Beastfolk.
