* LoveAtFirstPunch: Downplayed between her and Springer. When she first met Springer, she attacked him due to believing he was a traitor for siding with ponies. Eventually though, when Springer has enough of her, he went into his Mega Mode and defeated her by sending her and her friends crashing into the mountain. Mirage doesn't develop ''romantic'' feelings for Springer from this exactly, but ''is'' impressed by him and his form enough that she wonders if he is the one the prophecy spoke of instead of Razor Fang, and the two do slowly have ShipTease moments with each other afterwards.

* WouldntHurtAChild: While she has no problem attacking Flash, Twilight, Spike, or Springer, who she views as enemies due to the former three being non-Jakhowls and seeing the former as a CategoryTraitor, she believes that Ace and Mira are simply "brainwashed" and tells the others to try not to hurt them so they can try to "undo their brainwashing".

* IRejectYourReality: He believes he is the only Jakhowl who can ''possibly'' have a Mega Mode. So when he sees Springer with one himself, he immediately declares that Springer is obviously a fake. Even after he experiences the memories of Springer and the pups via Sirius' Aura-scaping ability, he ''still'' believes that the three of them and their pony friends are dangerous and is determined to prove they are a threat.
* {{Irony}}: He believes his Mega Mode, or "King Form" as he calls it, means that he is the Jakhowl spoken of in the prophecy to be the future king of the Jakhowls and lead them to a golden age. But, it is discovered that he only obtained that form a year ago, meaning Springer had his Mega Mode first.
* {{Jerkass}}: He's disdainful to almost everyone around him, not even affording respect to his leader, Sirius.
* NoTrueScotsman: Razor can't imagine a Jakhowl ever befriending a pony. When he sees Springer associate himself with Equestrians, Razor thinks it's a magic trick used by the ponies.
* MundaneUtility: He uses his Steel Paw to pick at his teeth.
* NominalHero: Being the only Jakhowl in Aurarora to have a Mega Mode, Razor is believed to be the one who will lead the kingdom to greatness when they are reintroduced to the outside world. However, he's so arrogant and contemptuous that he barely qualifies as a hero himself.
* TookALevelInJerkass: Ever since he's achieved his Mega Mode, Razor's arrogance and pride has inflated to a dangerous level.

Both of them lost their parents at a young age and were taken in by someone else, but unlike Gallus Iron was old enough to remember his parents. Iron also recognizes this as why Gallus has an attitude, and gets him to open up to him.
* ADayInTheLimelight: He gets a solo focus chapter in "The Griffon and the Knight" about becoming a potential apprentice to Iron.
* DudeWheresMyReward: In "The Griffon and the Knight", after he and Iron Core help the Apple Family pull their cart through town after Big Mac twists his ankle and Granny Smith gives them both an apple each for their help, Gallus expresses annoyance to Iron that the two of them "broke their backs" moving a heavy cart and only get an apple to show for it. Iron tells him they aren't doing the job to get something out of it themselves but to help others.
* FireForgedFriendship: An almost literal example with Iron Core. Gallus is paired with Iron to follow him for a day as part of an assignment, but initially finds him to be very boring. After he starts opening up to him a bit thanks to their CommonalityConnection of being orphans, the two end up working together to stop a massive fire that erupted in the Everfree Forest, with Gallus being impressed by Iron battling the fire. In turn, Gallus also impresses Iron when he risks his life to save a nest of baby birds from the fire, and Iron later decides [[spoiler:to take on Gallus as his apprentice after Gallus graduates]].
* InterspeciesRomance: A [[FutureBadass future adult version of Fire Heart]] states that Gallus eventually [[spoiler:marries Silverstream]].
* TheLoad: He was the most useless member of the Student Six during Flash's exercise to rescue a burning building's occupants, barely doing anything to help his teammates and putting in the bare minimum effort to the few tasks he actually did.
* TeasingTheSubstituteTeacher: When Wild Smile substitutes for Pinkie Pie while she is away getting yovidaphone lessons, Gallus is the first student to start messing with him, and the other students follow his example by pulling pranks on Wild too. Once Wild gets confidence in his teaching though, he manages to put a stop to Gallus and his attempts to cause trouble by threatening to not let him take part in their fun activities.

* AdaptationalJerkass: She is much ruder and less willing to work with the other students than she was in canon. Though this is somewhat justified since it was still the beginning of the school year before she had begun to learn anything about friendship.
* BerserkButton: She doesn't like being reminded of the time she was brainwashed by Malafear. When Fire Heart recognizes her from that event, she just glares at him for mentioning it.
* EarlyBirdCameo: Smolder made an unnamed cameo appearance during ''Dragon's Awakening'', as one of the numerous dragons being controlled by Malafear.
* IneffectualLoner: During the exercise in Flash's first class, Smolder decides that since she is fireproof she can just fly into the burning house and save the trapped pony without worrying about putting out the fire. But while inside she gets trapped under some rubble that collapses on top of her, and refuses help from Ocellus when she comes in to help her.
* OneOfTheBoys: Thanks to her {{tomboy}} nature she tends to have more in common with the guys in her group of friends than her fellow girls. Notably, when the Student Six and jakhowl twins get into a food fight with each other in "What Lies Beneath", Smolder joins Gallus, Sandbar, and Ace's team against the rest of the girls.
* PoorCommunicationKills: She informs Spike of The Molt and the "molt effect" dragons go through during it, but she forgets to tell him that the molt effect is only temporary and that dragons can return home once it is done, making him panic he's going to get kicked out forever. She also fails to mention that Spike will get his wings after his molt is done, which would have made him a bit less anxious and nervous. When Flicker ends up explaining this to everyone, he expresses surprise that Smolder didn't explain any of this herself.

* TheLoad: During Flash's first class, when the students need to work together to put out a house that's on fire and save the pony trapped inside, Yona [[TheKlutz trips over her own braids]] and smashes into the unstable building, causing it to collapse.
* NoodleIncident: Apparently, Yona is given a bigger room than the others because there were "mishaps" when she was given a normal-sized room.

* AttentionDeficitOohShiny: During the Student Six's first training exercise with Flash, Silverstream tries to get buckets of water to put out a flaming house and save the occupants. Instead, she gets distracted when she jumps in the lake and plays in the water, wasting time.
* EpicFail: When she sees Fire Heart training to use a chain mace with a rope and tennis ball, she asks if she can try. She almost instantly ends up tying herself up with it.
* EurekaMoment: When Fire Heart explains to her how he got so good at using a practice chain mace, just taking it one step at a time to eventually get a great outcome, Silverstream realizes with that line of logic, they can figure out why they failed the exercise by looking for answers "at the beginning instead of the end".
* InterspeciesRomance: A [[FutureBadass future adult version of Fire Heart]] states that Silverstream eventually [[spoiler:marries Gallus]].

* ForgotAboutHerPowers: During Flash's first class during an exercise when the students need to put out a fire and save a trapped pony, Ocellus never tries to use her shapeshifting abilities to her advantage. It isn't until ''after'' they have failed the exercise and Flash makes the suggestion that she realizes she could have done something like turn into an elephant to help put out the fire.
* SmartGirl: She is the smartest academically of the students, with the first day of class showing she already knows all of the Elements of Harmony.
* {{Troll}}: When the Student Six are all discussing how their cultures celebrate love, Ocellus makes up a fake story of how when a female sees a male she likes she tackles him to the ground and forcibly lays eggs in his stomach, which then hatch out of him like a piñata. As everyone else is reacting in horror at this, she laughs for a moment before saying she was just kidding.

An entity that is the source of Flash Sentry's powers.

* CreatorsFavorite: An InUniverse example. Of all of the beings it created, it favored the Jakhowls the most.
* GodInHumanForm: Like the Corrupted Shadow, it wished to experience the world it helped create and made a physical form for itself, abandoning most of its power. Thus, it became the first alicorn.
* GoodIsNotSoft: Faust mentions that it was the more aggressive one between it and the Corrupted Shadow.
* LightDarknessJuxtaposition: It's the light that juxtaposes with the Corrupted Shadow's darkness.
* LightIsGood: Downplayed. Although it does serve as the source of Flash Sentry's powers and is composed of light energy, Faust also mentions that it was usually the more aggressive one between it and the Corrupted Shadow.
* TheMaker: It helped create life in Equestria, which started with single-celled organisms to more complex beings.

An entity that serves as the antithesis to the Sacred Light and the source of Shadow Corrupter's power.

* DarkIsEvil: Downplayed. Although it is the source of Shadow Corrupter's power and is composed of dark energy, Faust also mentions that it is the gentler one between it and the Sacred Light.
* GodInHumanForm: Like the Sacred Light, it wished to experience the world it helped create and made a physical form for itself, abandoning most of its power. Thus, it became the first umbrum.
* GodOfEvil: Surprisingly subverted. Even though it is composed of dark energy, it isn't actively malicious and only really serves as a balance to the light energy of the Sacred Light.
* GreaterScopeVillain: Could be considered this for the entire series. For all the good the Sacred Light does, the Corrupted Shadow needs to balance it, which led to the creation of species like the umbrum and Tricksters, whom would become antagonists throughout the series. Not that the Corrupted Shadow is actively malicious, though.
* LightDarknessJuxtaposition: It's the dark that juxtaposes with the Sacred Light.
* TheMaker: Like the Sacred Light, it helped create life in Equestria.
* NecessarilyEvil: While the Corrupted Shadow itself is not actively malicious, many of its creations are to ensure that it balances out the Sacred Light.
* OldShame: An InUniverse example. To balance the Sacred Light's creation of the Jakhowls, the Corrupted Shadow created the Tricksters, which were supposed to be jakhowls that could use magic. However, the Tricksters became malicious creatures and the Corrupter Shadow always deemed them to be a failure.
* UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom: It created the umbrum, whom slowly fell to evil and waged a conflict to conquer the world, until they were defeated by the alicorns.

* EveryoneHasStandards: Zig-zagged. When Springer's stuck in a time loop, Turner believes that he's going through a time loop and tells him to meet him again in the next loop. However, when Springer does, Turner dismisses the idea of a time loop, believing that such an idea is crazy, even for him.
* MovingTheGoalposts: When Springer tries to get his help about being stuck in a time loop, he tells Springer to tell him what number he is thinking of. When the loop resets, Springer repeats the number to him, but he keeps making Springer tell him what number he is thinking of after ''that'', forcing Springer to go through the loop several more times and remember each number each time.
* NiceGuy: He's one of the few ponies to forgive Lightning with no transgressions whatsoever. In fact, when Lightning visits him, he offers him some advice to learn from his mistakes and move on from the past.
* NoodleIncident: His current Mag-U-Lator is model three-thousand and one. When Lightning asks why, Time Turner claims to have had a three-thousand model and all he could find was a [[Creator/SilverQuill silver feather quill]].
* SuperEmpowering: His Mag-U-Later can give ponies abilities that are exclusive to other races. To demonstrate, he uses it to temporarily give him the unicorn ability of levitating things with magic, despite being an earth pony.

As she and Rogue are conversing, Sugar Belle encourages Rogue to open up about his crush on Applejack, telling him that it's best to put all of their sexual tension to rest. However, Rogue comments that Sugar Belle herself doesn't follow the same advice she gives, as she has a crush on Big Mac, but is also too afraid about revealing it.
* ShipperOnDeck: When she learns of Rogue's friendship with Applejack, she teases about him having a crush on her, which he denies, but his blushing gives away his true feelings.

A rogue changeling who Flash meets during the Canterlot Wedding. His later appearance sees Hiveena released from prison.

* AchievementsInIgnorance: Thorax went through a process all Changelings do that make them loyal to the queen of the hive. But when Thorax went through it, he unknowingly ended up pleading his loyalty to Hiveena instead of Chrysalis, because in his subconscious he knew that Hiveena was the better leader.
* AdaptationalEarlyAppearance: In canon, he did not appear until season 6. Here, he appears during the season 2 finale, and joins the heroes in season 5.
* BerserkButton: Insulting Hivena. He is shocked when he hears in "Time for A Changeling" that she is in prison for the crimes she committed while working for Doom Raizer, and he quickly becomes angered when everyone keeps saying she is pure evil.
* BigDamnHeroes: Thorax saves Spike when they first meet, like in canon. But instead of just [[BottomlessPitRescueService saving him from falling off a cliff]] he also saves him from a cragadile.
* TheBusCameBack: After "A Canterlot Wedding", he appears in a flashback in "Copycat Fight" and a full-blown return in "Time for a Changeling".
* FriendToAllChildren: While celebrating Heartswarming in the Crystal Empire, Thorax keeps all of the young crystal ponies entertained by dancing with them and changing into several cute animals for them to pet and ride on. He also helps keep Flurry Heart entertained by transforming into various animals for her.
* MoralityPet: He acts as one for Hiveena. She was always nice to him when they were growing up in the hive, and so when he hears she is in prison he vouches for her to help get her out. When Hiveena sees him again, she agrees to the terms the ponies offer her, that she will be released if she helps them stop Chrysalis when she returns and in exchange they will help make her ruler of the Changeling.
* RogueDrone: Its explained that he didn’t feel as loyal to Chrysalis as the other Changelings, because he felt deep down that Hiveena was a better leader than Chrysalis, and thus the magical pledge all Changelings give to the queen was overridden and he ended up pledging to Hiveena instead of Chrysalis.
* ShipTease: He gets this with Hiveena in "Time for A Changeling", where his first sight of Hiveena is framed like LoveAtFirstSight.

* AdaptationalNiceGuy: When he encounters the dragons, he's quite curious and laidback compared to his canon appearance. Though this is {{Justified}} because his appearance in ''Dragon's Awakening'' takes place when he was younger and more idealistic than in the future. This also gives him more understandable reasons for why he's so callous in the present, namely about how the loss of Silverbolt and Fira by Malafear led him to fear losing any more loved ones and become paranoid that Stygian might become another villain.
* AffectionateNickname: When they first met, Silverbolt called him "Chops" after Starswirl's muttonchops, in which it's stuck throughout their friendship, even after Starswirl tries shaving it in favor of a beard.
* ItsAllMyFault: After hearing about [[spoiler:Fira's death]], he blames himself for not saving her, in which Silverbolt reassures him that he has nothing to be sorry for and that Malafear is solely responsible for the tragedy.
* ParentalSubstitute: [[spoiler:With Fira dead and his own plans to take Malafear down with him, Silverbolt blesses Starswirl to look after Spike's egg when he's gone.]]
* TookALevelinJerkass: In the season 7 finale, he's just as much of a condescending jerk as his canon self, but his present day personality is uniquely contrasted with his more curious, kind self in ''Dragon's Awakening'' to show how deeply the loss of Silverbolt and Fira affected him. Fortunately, he also lightens up by the end too.
* VitriolicBestBuds: He and Silverbolt frequently snark and make fun of each other, but they're friends nonetheless.

Later, when they agree to let him stay on the farm and try to decide what to call him besides "the bat pony" or "the thestral", he tells them to call him "Rogue", remembering how Applejack used the word before and liked the sound of it.
* BrutalHonesty: When Applejack shows him and her friends how she feeds the pigs and then explains each step to them, he says right to her face that it is stupid, actually making her flinch.
* CoolShades: Due to being a nocturnal creature, he needs to wear sunglasses when outside during the day, since the sunlight is harsh to his sensitive eyes.

However, due to a birth defect, he ends up poisoning himself, which was why he tried to steal Applejack’s apples to try to cure himself. By "Nightmare Night", he seems to have developed a greater immunity to his poison, no longer needing a golden apple for twenty-four hours.
* ShipTease: He gets a few moments with Applejack.
* ShutUpKiss: On the receiving end from [[spoiler:Applejack. After he confesses his love to Applejack, including kissing her quickly on the lips, he tries to assure her it is okay with him if she doesn't feel the same way about him, only for her to cut him off by pulling him into another kiss. Though Rogue's eyes go wide with shock from this, he quickly closes them and kisses her back, with the two staying like that for a minute before pulling apart]].
* TeethClenchedTeamwork: He and Discord don't get along with each other at all. During the event of "To Where and Back Again", both of them insult and argue with each other.
* TemptingFate: When Spike asks if they should be worried about Discord using his "scary voice", Rogue shrugs it off by asking what's the worst he could do. This is immediately followed by them being attacked by the Squizard and his army.

* DidntThinkThisThrough: Jaden follows after Sombra and Ruby in "The Quest of Redemption" to help them find the last piece of Amore's statue, mainly because he doesn't want to leave his mentor alone with Sombra. But he didn't properly prepare for the cold outside the Crystal Empire like they did. When they pull out their rations to eat, he pulls out a chocolate bar only to find it frozen solid when he tries to bite it due to his bag not being insulated. The same thing happened to his water bottle, with it now being frozen solid and as heavy as a brick.
* HeroicSelfDeprecation: His archery is very impressive and Fire thinks that he would impress Ruby by showing it off, but Jaden disagrees, too afraid that he'll mess up and embarrass himself before his idol.
* JerkassToOne: He's uncharacteristically hostile toward Sombra and like the other Crystal Ponies, Jaden treats him like a monster for his actions to Crystal Empire.
* MasterArcher: He manages to get seven bullseyes in a row, and is later able to strike Trial-R from the castle with a crossbow. Ruby even says he is already a master markspony, an impressive feat for someone his age.
* StalkerWithoutACrush: He spies on Ruby Scarlet out of admiration for her fighting prowess, but he didn't openly meet her because he was too shy.

So she snuck out to drop him off in Canterlot where she belived he would be safe, but after finding the Golden Apple Tree underground when they were chased by several other thestrals she left him there to be safe and gave him a potion to [[LaserGuidedAmnesia wipe his memories]].
* TheDogBitesBack: After being mistreated from Fangpire, she finally stand up to him and uses her Sonic Blast on him.

* EarlyBirdCameo: He makes a brief appearance in the Season 4 chapter "Shipping", as one of the fans interrupting Flash and Twilight.

* CommonalityConnection: He starts to bond with Iron Core over both of them being orphans. Both of them lost their parents at a young age and were taken in by someone else, but unlike Gallus Iron was old enough to remember his parents. Iron also recognizes this as why Gallus has an attitude, and gets him to open up to him.
* ADayInTheLimelight: He gets a solo focus chapter in "The Griffon and the Knight" about becoming a potential apprentice to Iron.
* DudeWheresMyReward: In "The Griffon and the Knight", after he and Iron Core help the Apple Family pull their cart through town after Big Mac twists his ankle and Granny Smith gives them both an apple each for their help, Gallus expresses annoyance to Iron that the two of them "broke their backs" moving a heavy cart and only get an apple to show for it. Iron tells him they aren't doing the job to get something out of it themselves but to help others.
* FireForgedFriendship: An almost literal example with Iron Core. Gallus is paired with Iron to follow him for a day as part of an assignment, but initially finds him to be very boring. After he starts opening up to him a bit thanks to their CommonalityConnection of being orphans, the two end up working together to stop a massive fire that erupted in the Everfree Forest, with Gallus being impressed by Iron battling the fire. In turn, Gallus also impresses Iron when he risks his life to save a nest of baby birds from the fire, and Iron later decides [[spoiler:to take on Gallus as his apprentice after Gallus graduates]].
* InterspeciesRomance: A [[FutureBadass future adult version of Fire Heart]] states that Gallus eventually [[spoiler:marries Silverstream]].
* TheLoad: He was the most useless member of the Student Six during Flash's exercise to rescue a burning building's occupants, barely doing anything to help his teammates and putting in the bare minimum effort to the few tasks he actually did.
* TeasingTheSubstituteTeacher: When Wild Smile substitutes for Pinkie Pie while she is away getting yovidaphone lessons, Gallus is the first student to start messing with him, and the other students follow his example by pulling pranks on Wild too. Once Wild gets confidence in his teaching though, he manages to put a stop to Gallus and his attempts to cause trouble by threatening to not let him take part in their fun activities.

* AdaptationalJerkass: She is much ruder and less willing to work with the other students than she was in canon. Though this is somewhat justified since it was still the beginning of the school year before she had begun to learn anything about friendship.
* BerserkButton: She doesn't like being reminded of the time she was brainwashed by Malafear. When Fire Heart recognizes her from that event, she just glares at him for mentioning it.
* EarlyBirdCameo: Smolder made an unnamed cameo appearance during ''Dragon's Awakening'', as one of the numerous dragons being controlled by Malafear.
* IneffectualLoner: During the exercise in Flash's first class, Smolder decides that since she is fireproof she can just fly into the burning house and save the trapped pony without worrying about putting out the fire. But while inside she gets trapped under some rubble that collapses on top of her, and refuses help from Ocellus when she comes in to help her.
* OneOfTheBoys: Thanks to her {{tomboy}} nature she tends to have more in common with the guys in her group of friends than her fellow girls. Notably, when the Student Six and jakhowl twins get into a food fight with each other in "What Lies Beneath", Smolder joins Gallus, Sandbar, and Ace's team against the rest of the girls.
* PoorCommunicationKills: She informs Spike of The Molt and the "molt effect" dragons go through during it, but she forgets to tell him that the molt effect is only temporary and that dragons can return home once it is done, making him panic he's going to get kicked out forever. She also fails to mention that Spike will get his wings after his molt is done, which would have made him a bit less anxious and nervous. When Flicker ends up explaining this to everyone, he expresses surprise that Smolder didn't explain any of this herself.

* AttentionDeficitOohShiny: During the Student Six's first training exercise with Flash, Silverstream tries to get buckets of water to put out a flaming house and save the occupants. Instead, she gets distracted when she jumps in the lake and plays in the water, wasting time.
* EpicFail: When she sees Fire Heart training to use a chain mace with a rope and tennis ball, she asks if she can try. She almost instantly ends up tying herself up with it.
* EurekaMoment: When Fire Heart explains to her how he got so good at using a practice chain mace, just taking it one step at a time to eventually get a great outcome, Silverstream realizes with that line of logic, they can figure out why they failed the exercise by looking for answers "at the beginning instead of the end".

* TheMaker: Like the Sacred Light, it helped create life in Equestria.
