* CompanionCube: Ditches Peter for a partner in a class project, for an AI computer version of himself.

* AdaptationPersonalityChange: A pretty odd example. He's pretty accurate and faithful to the usual depiction of Spider-Man, but the series is ([[CanonDiscontinuity supposed to be]]) a direct sequel to Creator/SamRaimi's ''Film/SpiderMan1'', where he is shown to be more serious and an ExtremeDoormat. That said, the series does do an admirable job of bridging the two characterizations as the series goes on. On another note, he's also far more cynical than most incarnations of the wall-crawler.

* AdaptationalComicRelief: {{Inverted|Trope}}. He's one of the least jokey incarnations of Spider-Man, though he's still pretty quippy and snarky (it ''is'' Spider-Man, after all). He does make more jokes than the version from the films, despite being based on that version of the character.

* ContraltoOfStrength: She has a very deep, low and sexy voice.

* MsFanservice: She's very beautiful, attractive and pretty and can be pretty sensual and seductive.

* HeroAntagonist: Though she was attempting to assassinate an important politician, she had really good reasons to do so; the man was actually a terrorist attempting to infiltrate the White House.

* HotTeacher: She's very attractive. Could also count as HotScientist given the subject she teaches.

* UncertainDoom: She was last seen being taken to the hospital, barely alive after Electro tries to turn him into a being like himself.

* HateSink: He’s pretty much a representative for the public’s hatred of Spider-Man, and is thus made as unlikable as possible.
* InsaneTrollLogic: His general logic when investigating a crime is that if Spider-Man was present or even in the general vicinity, he was involved. If a witness says otherwise, they’re either lying or making a mistake. [[SarcasmMode It’s not like Spider-Man could be a hero, after all.]]
* InspectorJavert: He’s obsessed with capturing Spider-Man and firmly believes him to be a criminal, and he convinces himself pretty much anything Spider-Man does as proof of this through a bunch of mental gymnastics.
* {{Jerkass}}: He allows his biases to influence his investigations and he ignores the witnesses when they say something he doesn’t want to hear. He also verbally abuses pretty much everyone he meets.

* LaserGuidedKarma: For rejecting Max and Humiliating him by saying: "Sucks to be you." Max now as Electro says the exact same thing to him, before being electrocuted to him.

* HeroesWantRedheads: As per usual (and just like in the films), Peter is very much in love with Mary Jane (who has short, red hair).

* HeroesWantRedheads: She has red hair and is Peter's main love interest.

* {{Expy}}: She is loosely based on Black Cat and was even originally intended to be this continuity's version of Black Cat before the MTV executives persuaded the creators to retool the character to be more like her voice actress.

* DistressedDamsel: Though she ''is'' able to defend herself from time to time, and was the reason Spider-Man figured out destroying Shikata's sword would stop her. She even tried to do it herself. The first episode even showed her elbowing Turbo Jet in the face so hard it broke his helmet.

* BareMidriffsAreFeminine: (as seen from the picture) MJ always has his belly uncovered. In the whole series she will only wear two dresses. All letting her show her navel.

* BareYourMidriff: Like the vast majority of female characters in this cartoon, MJ also walks around in a shirt that exposes his belly and navel. And this doesn't seem to displease any male character...

* HarmfulToTouch: Most versions of Electro are flesh and blood people who can control electricity but will still be hurt by anyone punching them. This version of Electro is innately charged with energy and shocks Spider-Man when the latter punches him. Spider-Man gets around this by covering his hands in webbing.

* BadassBaritone: Invoked. He deepens his own voice while in costume, both to disguise himself and intimidate his enemies.

* BadassBaritone: Due to having Creator/MichaelDorn as his voice actor.

* TakeThatKiss: Not a physical example, but she blows to kisses to Spider-Man to taunt him during their first fight. First, after she kicks him away and puts her goggles back on she turns back to him and blows a kiss before running off. Then, after Spider-Man is stuck holding a piece from a construction building in place to stop it from falling into the streets, Talon blows him another goodbye kiss to taunt him before disappearing.
