* GuysSmashGirlsShoot: Played very straight with Team [=SLVRs=]' preferred fighting style and weapons: with [[ImpossiblyCoolClothes Simin]] and [[WolverineClaws Lycan]] preferring melee weapons, whereas [[ArcherArchetype Vella]] and [[ShotgunsAreJustBetter Ragora]] use firearms.

* BladeOnAStick: Her weapon is a shotgun that can turn into a glaive, which fires arc-shaped buckshots for added destructive power upon impact.

* AmbiguouslyEvil: It's unknown whether or not he actually is evil (or at the very least an antihero), but he is seen with the Armors - the mooks of Pandora - at the end of the Charcoal Trailer.

* YouGotToBeKiddingMe: He shouts "(Oh) Come on!" several times in ''Odyssey Club Tournament''.

* DishingOutTheDirt: He uses Earth Dust to create large, dense shields.

* LuckilyMyShieldWillProtectMe: Made from Ice Dust.

* PlayingWithFire: Can make a [[FlamingSword flaming]] [[{{BFS}} claymore]] with Fire Dust.
* ShieldsAreUseless: In ''Odyssey Club Tournament'', Simin uses his Earth Dust to create a shield to protect him from the explosion caused by the hatchets he made with his Fire Dust. The shield doesn't hold up on account of Obsidian's Semblance giving him enough power to break the shield with said explosion and launch him out of the amphitheater.

* {{Foil}}: To Team RWBY at the start of the series. The former team is composed entirely of women whereas Team SLVR, like Team JNPR, is a GenderEqualEnsemble consisting of two guys and two girls. Whereas Team RWBY was inexperienced at the start of their tenure in Beacon and grew as a cohesive team as a result of getting mixed up in various plots and schemes by the villains, Team SLVR are {{Experienced Protagonist}}s who, if the Regalia Trailer is any indication, have been active for quite some time.

* {{Foil}}: To Ruby Rose, the leader of Team RWBY. Ruby is a mid-range fighter who alternates between fighting at a distance or up close with Crescent Rose's sniper and scythe functions respectively. Her Semblance grants her SuperSpeed on top of having a rare power that enables her to turn Grimm into stone. Simin is primarily a close-ranger fighter who favors dual-swords, longswords, javelins, and shields with Kore Kosmou, with the javelins made from Wind Dust being his seeming only method of long range attacks. Unlike the rest of his team, Simin doesn't have a semblance and relies on his Aura and fighting ability. [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking Ruby is fascinated by weapons of all kinds, while Simin on the other hand seems more interested with Dust.]]

** To Yang Xiao-Long, Team RWBY's resident berserker. While both are close-range fighters, Yang's Ember Celica gives her options to fight at a distance and tends to fly off the handle whenever her BerserkButton is pushed. Lycan's knives don't have nearly as much options to fight at long-range, but makes up for it with being vicious on the battlefield as a pack of Beowolves can attest.
** To Blake Belladonna, a fellow Faunus and another member of Team RWBY. Blake is a Cat Faunus who starts off as being cool and aloof before growing closer to her teammates. Lycan is a Wolf Faunus who's loud and violent, but gets along with the rest of team SLVR for the most part. In terms of Semblance, Blake mainly used her shadow clones to avoid enemy attacks or to distract while Simin's clones actively assist, but go down in one hit unless imbued with Dust.

* {{Foil}}:
** To Simin. Brandon is immediately shown to be quite experienced in a battle to the point where he effortlessly defeated the Jade Ninjas and Stone Samurai with terrifying ease, while Simin initially struggled to defeat a high-ranking White Fang member. Brandon also has a simple gun-and-sword combo with a hint of PlayingWithFire, whereas Simin's weapon is his own jacket infused with Dust and can create weapons made of the stuff, but primarily uses [[AnIcePerson ice weaponry]]. Additionally, both characters' [[MeaningfulName names]] reference alchemy -- Nicholas Flamel, the creator of the Philosopher's Stone for Brandon and Hermes Trismegistus, the Greek name of Thoth for Simin.
** To Lysette (who may or may not be his associate). Brandon dresses primarily in black whereas Lysette's attire is predominantly white, and Brandon has a heat-based semblance as opposed to Lysette's cold-based one. In their debut trailers, Lysette has dialogue in the Regalia Trailer, while Brandon was completely silent in his Charcoal Trailer.

The titular heroes of the series. At present, their affiliation is otherwise unknown.

* {{Foil}}: To Team RWBY.
** Lycan is the team's resident Faunus, much like Blake is to Team RWBY. In terms of personality and combat, they're total opposites; Blake is aloof and fights mid-to-close range with Gambol Shroud, whereas Lycan is more like Yang as a BoisterousBruiser who fights up-close and personal.
** Ragora's Semblance is this for Weiss' hereditary Glyphs. Weiss' summons take on the form of Grimm she's defeated in the past, albeit white in color, with her favored summon being the Armored Gigas, which resembles a noble knight. In addition to the summons, her glyphs can create a wide variety of effects when applied with Dust. Ragora's summon is darker and somewhat sinister looking with sharp teeth and horns and lacks the versatility of Weiss' own abilities. In combat, Weiss is also akin to a DanceBattler who incorporates Dust into her techniques whereas Ragora uses a glaive and is more of a physical powerhouse.
** Regarding their respective introductions, Simin fought the White Fang in a warehouse. Ruby fought Grimm in a more wide-open space.

* GuysSmashGirlsShoot: Played very straight with Team [=SLVRs=]' preferred fighting style and weapons: with [[ImpossiblyCoolClothes Simin]] and [[WolverineClaws Lycan]] preferring melee weapons whereas [[ArcherArchetype Vella]] and [[ShotgunsAreJustBetter Ragora]] use firearms.

* AnAxToGrind: Subverted. Ragora's weapon can easily be mistaken for a battle ax and is very much wielded like one, but it's actually a glaive.

* {{Foil}}: Zigzagged. Team SLVR differs a few ways from Team RWBY.
** Lycan is one to Blake, as both are Faunus and share a similar Semblance, but while Blake is otherwise collected and calm, Lycan is more like [[BloodKnight Yang]] and ''[[TheBerserker very]]'' [[TheBerserker eager to tear into any unfortunate enemy in front of him]].
** Vella and Ragora's semblance appears similar to Weiss' own, but so far Vella's glyphs haven't been shown to be quite as versatile as the latter's. Ragora's "familiar" is darker in color and rather demonic in form, whereas Weiss' constructs are white and one of her favored summons is the gallant-looking Arma Gigas.
** For Simin and Ruby, there's quite a few to mention. In their respective debuts, Ruby fought against Grimm Beowolves while Simin fought against the White Fang. Ruby uses a scythe and sniper-rifle in combat, while Simin's weapon requires Dust to be used and has made only close-range weaponry such as swords and shields. Ruby also possesses a Semblance, while Simin does not.

CompositeCharacter: His Semblance has properties of Blake's Shadow and Sun's Via Sun Semblances, creating OneHitWonder clones that can aid him in battle and augmented when infused with Dust

* {{Expy}}: He's also a bit of an expy of Wolverine, what with his wolf-like features, ferocity and Razorbolt's claw function bringing the titular X-Man to mind. His name is even an almost-homophone to Wolverine's civilian name Logan.

* {{Expy}}: His semblance is a mix of Sun and Blake's fused together, as he can send them out to fight, though they go down in one hit. He can also infuse them with Dust for the extra advantage. He's also a bit of an expy of Wolverine, what with his wolf-like features, ferocity and Razorbolt's claw function bringing the titular X-Man to mind. His name is even an almost-homophone to Wolverine's civilian name Logan.

* WolverineWannabe: A WolfMan with WolverineClaws and a BloodKnight attitude. "Lycan" even sounds like "Logan".

* CoolHat: Wears a white witch's hat, appropriate given her motif.

* ScarfOfAsskicking: Goes nicely with her CoolHat. Ragora seems to use it to keep her long hair from flailing while fighting.

* CoolHat: Has a bowler hat that puts even Roman's to shame.

* GuysSmashGirlsShoot: Played very straight with Team SLVRs' preferred fighting style and weapons: with [[ImpossiblyCoolClothes Simin]] and [[WolverineClaws Lycan]] preferring melee weapons whereas [[ArcherArchetype Vella]] and [[ShotgunsAreJustBetter Ragora]] use firearms.

* KnifeNut: When he's not using them as his WolverineClaws, Lycan uses the knives separately. He also appears to have a large number of them, as he's discarded a few of them after killing some Grimm before switching to the claws.

* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: He has raspberry red hair.

* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: She has bright aqua-colored hair.
