* DemotedToExtra: In ''The Conners'', he's lucky to appear in every other episode and seldom gets more than a MandatoryLine when he does, especially in season two after his wife returns to Afghanistan. In season three, he only appears in eight of the twenty episodes, albeit briefly. Michael Fishman (who had retired from acting after ''Roseanne'''s original run ended) seems to take this in stride and is just happy to be a part of the show, often serving as an "ambassador" with the fans online. However, if one were to pay close enough attention, he tends to react on posts where fans openly complain about DJ's lack of screentime.

* DisappearedDad: To his kids, Harris and Mark. He's actually never had a relationship with Mark because he left when he was just a baby; when he returns to Lanford, he has to ask Darlene what their son is like. Also on the receiving end, his dad's decision to divorce his mom having led to him moving in with the Conners.
