fight. Bat is a member of his planet's Federal Army, which rose to prominence following a civil war and were initiating a plan to invade the Land of Light for its Life Solidification Device, a device invented by [[Series/UltramanMebius Ultraman Hikari]] that could bring Ultras back to life. Furious that the Ultras would seemingly keep such revolutionary technology to themselves, the Federal Army codenamed their proposed invasion as the 'Ultra Annihilation Project', with the Bat and Zetton that Jack fought being merely the vanguard of the much larger military operation. After the two were defeated, Jack made his return to the Land of Light to fight alongside his comrades, with the Ultras ultimately emerging victorious.

The former's appearance in episode 38, "When the Ultra Star Shines" is a notably important moment in the franchise's history - it disproves the public's notions at the time that Ultraman Jack is the original Ultraman by a different name, establishing that Ultraman and Ultraman Jack are, ''in fact'', two separate individuals. As the series goes on, with more and more different Ultramen introduced with each series, it can be pretty much said that the establoished distinction between Ultraman and Ultraman Jack serves as a stepping stone in allowing the franchise to grow and grow.
