* EvilVirtues: Honesty, Loyalty, and Bravery. He doesn't like liars, he stands by Micah despite everything, and [[spoiler: he's brave enough to try to take on a very vengeful John Marston, he fails miserably, but props for having the balls to try.]]

* TheFriendNobodyLikes: Given the state of the gang, and that it's Micah that brought him in, he's not exactly well liked by anybody.

* BadassDecay: In Chapter 3, [[spoiler: she (alongside Bill and Lenny) masterminded the Valentine bank heist and as one of the gang's most clinical marksmen, she even actively participates in the shooting. Later on in chapter 4, she defended Shady Belle from the O'Driscoll ambush, and across the early chapters, she (and possibly Sadie from chapter 3 onwards) is the only woman in camp who performs guard duties owing to her proficiency with a rifle. In contrast, by Chapter 6, her increased dependency on alcohol from the stress of the deaths of key members of the gang (particularly Sean and Molly) and the gang's gradual collapse descends her into full-blown alcoholism and [[DespairEventHorizona a state of clinical depression]], both of which are heavily implied to have killed her off post-time skip.]]

* FemaleMisogynist: One of her less endearing moments has her complain about the camp's girls being disobedient and calling them "whores" and "wretches", which is a little ironic considering she was once an actual whore.

* AffablyEvil: What stops her from being a distaff Micah is while she is reckless, violent and occasionally bratty, she is genuinely friendly towards Arthur and the other gang members.

** He's also one to Bill. Both of them are tough and ruthless fighters who are heavily involved in the Van der Linde gang in 1899, but while Bill is a less-than-bright loudmouth who enjoys killing and stealing, Charles is a quiet, but moral gang member who only does horrible things to try and survive.

* FatBastard: He's fat and officially a criminal due to his allegiance to Dutch. Though he's actually a NiceGuy in person, allegiances aside.

* DrowningMySorrows: When he's not trying to keep morale up in Chapter 6, he can frequently be found drunk around camp, lamenting the gang's downward spiral.

* AllLoveIsUnrequited: Implied to carry a torch for Arthur. Unfortunately, Arthur is unable to reciprocate due to him being unable to move on from Mary Linton.

* GiverOfLameNames: The other gang members have horses with cool, creative names like Boadicea (Arthur), Silver Dollar (Hosea), and The Count (Dutch). Sadie's horse is named Bob.

* ContraltoOfDanger: Boasts a deeper voice than any other woman in the gang -- and a raspier one than most of the ''men'' -- and over the course of the game becomes a ruthless, tough-as-nails gunslinger on par with Charles, John and Arthur. Notably, her role is different than the other women, too; Karen, Mary-Beth and Tilly mostly do the laundry or pick pockets in town (with Karen sometimes guarding or taking point in gunfights because of her marksmanship), Mrs. Grimshaw supervises them and keeps the camp in shape, and Molly [[TheLoad doesn't do anything]], but [[TomboyishVoice Sadie begins wearing pants, taking guard duty, and even riding out on a few missions with the guys]], in part because she demands to do something other than chores.

* AbusiveParents: Though she does seem to genuinely care about them, Susan still seems to be pretty fond of yelling at her surrogate children and smacking them in the face when they piss her off. One of the first things we see her do upon arriving at the new camp in Chapter 2 is yell at Tilly for fucking something up, hitting Tilly for not doing work when sick, she slaps Arthur if he comes back to camp filthy, slaps Mary-Beth for not doing her chores and it’s implied she’s physically abusive to the other girls as well considering the sheer ''disdain'' they all have for her.

* FemaleMisogynist: One of her less endearing moments has her complain about the camp's girls being disobedient and calling them "whores" and "wretches."

* HookerWithAHeartOfGold: Camp conversations reveal that Grimshaw was a "painted woman" before shacking up with Dutch and the gang.

** She will tolerate Karen's backtalk early in the game and not hit her over it, though she does make veiled threats.
** Berates Lenny and Mary-Beth for mocking Pearson’s cooking, saying that Pearson put effort in cooking it for them. Ironically, she asks Arthur for herbs herself so she can secretly spice up his stew, although she specifically tells Arthur not to let him know.

** It's important to note that her 'craziness' is not 'unpredictable'. Don't demean or push her around, and she'll leave you alone. Even then, the worst she'll do is slap or threaten you. Abuse her or be an O'Driscoll, and she's liable to run at you and tear your eyes out with her bare hands. She's mad with pain, but she's not totally unreasonable.

* PetTheDog: She has an ambient conversation with Kieran where she reassures him that he's one of the gang now and he doesn't have to worry about getting hurt. Given that it's can happen as early as Horseshoe Overlook, when most of the gang is still openly hostile to Kieran, it's very kind of her.

* PetTheDog: Berates Lenny and Mary-Beth for mocking Pearson’s cooking, saying that Pearson put effort in cooking it for them. Ironically, she asks Arthur for herbs herself so she can secretly spice up his stew, although she specifically tells Arthur not to let him know.

* KarmicDeath:
** Sean leads the attack on the Gray plantation fields, during which he has a guard killed (either through Arthur or directly) after befriending him over their shared backgrounds. [[spoiler:He is killed when a Gray guard blows his head off as he is lured into a supposedly friendly meeting.]]
** Hosea is the gang's chief strategist. While usually cautious, he has a habit of overestimating his gang's abilities and underestimating the heat they've brought on them, and his failed attempt to manipulates the Grays and Braithwaites is what led to [[spoiler:Sean's death. He is killed during a bank heist he insisted on going through in the same way as Sean; shot dead by a law enforcement agent.]]
** Lenny is noted as overeager and overconfident due to his young age. [[spoiler:He is killed when he runs ahead of the gang and into the path of two Pinkertons, who gun him down.]]
** Molly does absolutely nothing for the gang except sleep with Dutch, and she spends Chapter 3 onwards loudly arguing with him. [[spoiler:She is killed when she takes the arguing too far and lies that she turned rat, which gets her summarily executed. It's also ironic that as the least productive member of the gang and the only woman not to do any work, she is killed by Grimshaw, who is usually the one to berate and beat the girls when.]]
** Grimshaw, as stated above, [[spoiler:murders Molly in the middle of the camp after falsely suspecting her of being the rat. Out of the gang, she is also violent towards the most gang members, is the most pettily violent and commits the most acts of in-camp violence, beating and slapping Tilly, Mary-Beth and Karen if they neglect their work or talk back to her. She is killed in the middle of the camp by the actual rat, Micah, who shoots her dead like she did Molly.]]
** Arthur himself. His initial apathy, arrogance and cruelty to outsiders led to him [[spoiler:beating up a helpless, sick farmer who then passed tuberculosis onto him. Even if he attempts to reform himself, he will still die as a result of that atrocity. But if he continues to be a prick and commits even more heinous acts, Micah, a fellow murderous, selfish, unrepentant outlaw, will personally kill him.]]
** Micah spends Chapter 6 subtly turning Dutch against Arthur and John. [[spoiler:He is killed when John turns Dutch against him.]]
** John went after three of his gang members, despite having killed Micah for turning on the gang. [[spoiler:He is RewardedAsATraitorDeserves and is riddled with bullets like Micah was.]]

* TrademarkFavouriteFood: Kentucky bourbon whiskey, usually in parties or in sorrow. Barring that, the gang members can often be seen drinking a cup of coffee.
