* FunnyAfro: It's hidden by his bandanna, but he does have a spiky, hedgehog-like afro.

* RagtagBunchOfMisfits: At their foundation, they were a bunch of thugs and bandits who were reunited by Kozuki Oden. [[spoiler:Yasuie]] later set them straight and they evolved into the badass crew they are today. They admit that, if they had never met Oden, they wouldn't have become the samurais they are now.

* ArtInitiatesLife: His Devil Fruit ability allows him to bring anything he draws to life. Unfortunately, he [[TerribleArtist can't quite]] take full advantage of it and many of the living being he creates with his power are weak.
* DistressedDude: By way of HeroicSacrifice, he let himself captured to allow Kin'emon to follow Momonosuke, who ended up on a ship directed to Punk Hazard. Saving him becomes one of the Straw Hats' objectives in Dressrosa. [[spoiler:He eventually becomes a [[DamselOutOfDistress Dude OUT of Distress]] after he escapes on his own.]]

* NiceGuy: He's rather friendly and polite compared to the more temperamental Kin'emon.

* BadassInDistress: Played with. He's no slouch himself, but when [[PersonOfMassDestruction Jack]] came looking for him, he had to take refuge in the Mokomo Dukedom. And then the Minks chained him against his will, since he could not stomach seeing his Mink allies getting slaughtered and was ready to turn himself in to stop the carnage.

* TheUsurper: Dethroned the previous ruling family of Wano, the Kozuki Clan, just when he and Kaido aligned twenty years before the start of the story.

* AmbiguousSituation: Is that her face? With the Mane Mane no Mi we can't be sure. Who is she? She can't just be a simple Kurozomi retainer if she can get access to a Mythical Devil fruit during the worst close-off in the country history.

** When Oden [[RoaringRampageOfRevenge bursts into Orochi's temple after hearing of his abuse of Wano,]] he charges at him with both swords drawn, with Orochi [[InelegantBlubbering begging for his life while panicking, crying, and about to shit himself.]] When Semimaru stops his attack with his [[BarrierWarrior Bari-Bari Fruit,]] Orochi mocks Oden from behind the barrier, bragging that no one can kill him.

* DirtyCoward: [[spoiler:He spent twenty years fearing a prophecy despite being behind Kaido, and armed his soldiers to the teeth out of paranoid fear, albeit justified.]] Judging by his [[TriggerHappy immediate reaction,]] [[spoiler:Yasuie]] strucks a nerve when he calls him one. Best shown when he freezes in fear the very second someone attacks him and needs Kyoshiro to save his ass.

* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: Upon returning to Wano after sailing with the Roger Pirates, he learns of Orochi's abuse of Wano, while that angered him enough what really got him was learning that Orochi was after his family and Toki took an arrow to the knee protecting her children. After which, he ''instantly'' grabbed his swords and made a beeline for the Flower Capital, throttling all the guards that stood in his way, kicked in the door to the throne room and rushed directly at the panicking Orochi.

The old woman who set Kurozumi Orochi on his path toward the throne of Shogun. She was also the previous user of Mr 2's Mane Mane no Mi.

* NoNameGiven: Her name hasn't been revealed and Orochi simply called her "granny".

* NiceJobBreakingItHero: Oden left Wano with Whitebeard and then Roger because of his dream to see the world, and the country fell under Orochi's and Kaido's clutches while he was away.
* OneManArmy: Sliced a rampaging {{Kaiju}} boar singlehandedly and even challenged the bandit king Ashura Doji and his entire gang and stomped them all by himself over the course of a night.

* PuppetKing: And he knows it. While Kaido has no real interest in Wano aside from its secrets and being able to build up his army in relative safety, Orochi is the one who actually handles politics. While their interests align in wanting to keep Wano under their thumb, Orochi is well aware that he only keeps his position because Kaido wills it.

* ProperlyParanoid: He is completely convinced that the prophecy of his overthrow is genuine but for his subordinates, Oden's family and his retainers have all been killed and don't believe him. [[spoiler:Yasuie defies this trope by making Orochi appear as unnecessarly paranoid so that his guards would lose faith in him]].

* UngratefulBastard: While tied up at a stake, [[spoiler: Yasuie calls Orochi ungrateful for what he has done to him, and later Orochi shoots him. In Oden's flashback, is shown that Yasuie took Orochi under his wing when he was child but the latter stole money from Yasuie and blamed Oden for this]].

* UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom: Oden's absence enabled Orochi's rise to Shogunate and their country's enslavement by the Beast Pirates. Oden is not a villain but he he doomed his country via his selfishness.
* WarriorPrince: Well, not a prince, but he was the son of a shogun and thus lived in the Flower Capital before he got kicked out. As for the warrior? Well, he caused violent fights, tamed a lawless land into a vertible ''paradise'' and sailed with the Whitebeard and ''Roger'' Pirates, even reached '''''Raftel'''''.
* TheWorfEffect: After clashing equally with Whitebeard, he's sent flying by Roger with one hand to demonstrate the gap in strength between even someone as strong as him and the WorldsStrongestMan.

* ShoutOut: His lipstick and weapon of choice may be a nod to Honjo Kamatari from ''Manga/RurouniKenshin'', a scythe-wielding crossdresser ([[{{Pun}} Ogama ni Okama in Japanese]]) whose whole shtick was suggested by Oda himself when he worked as an assistant for Watsuki. His face covered with bandages is a nod to Shishio Makoto, a famous villain still from ''Rurouni Kenshin''.

Kin'emon's apparent son, brought with the other children to Punk Hazard to be experimented on by Caesar Clown. He hid after accidentally eating an imperfect, man-made Devil Fruit made by Vegapunk and turned into a little eastern dragon as a result. Later, it’s revealed that he and Kin’emon aren’t actually father and son, but master and retainer, and that Momonosuke’s real father is Kozuki Oden, the deceased Daimyo of Wano's Kuri region. Both of his parents were slain by Kaido, and Momonosuke and his retainers are now on the run from the Beasts Pirates who have usurped the throne. He also has the mysterious power to hear the voice of all things.

* SilkHidingSteel: A kind-hearted woman who works at Tsuru's tea shop, yet is quite firm in personal boundaries as shown when she rejected Urashima's offer to make her his wife, and gave chase to one of the Beasts Pirates after they kidnapped Tama. And she ''will'' raise her katana at you if you insist on your advances after she's already told you "no".

* LetsGetDangerous: [[spoiler:When the forest he and his men are living in is set on fire by the Beasts Pirates, he decides it's time to go start bashing heads together]].

* VillainWithGoodPublicity: Of the WrittenByTheWinners variety. He became the shogun after the Beasts Pirates killed Oden, and thanks to propaganda taught even at school, he's believed to be a hero, while the members of the Kozuki clan are considered enemies of the country. This appears to only be the case in the Flower Capital, though.

* DamselInDistress: When Luffy meets her, she's captured by some of Kaido's goons. She's kidnapped again by other Beasts Pirates in the Leftovers Town and is rescued again.

* SmallRoleBigImpact: Despite never being mentioned by anyone until the Zou Arc, he was essential to Roger's ascension to Pirate King thanks to [[spoiler:his knowledge of the Poneglyph's letters]], which would later spark the Golden Age of Piracy.

* OneHundredPercentAdorationRating: He was such a good shogun that he used to be so adored by the residents of Kuri that Kuri Castle was called Oden Castle by the residents. Unfortunately, twenty years of MaliciousSlander threw that reputation down the crapper.

* HungryWeapon: His Meitou Enma is a sword of the highest quality, but also eats up your Haki whenever is used, to the point of unnaturally withering your arm with each slash. YThe user needs to possess an iron will to tame the weapon and have it return your Haki and arm back to normal. Even [[PraetorianGuard a badass like Kin'emon]] remarks that he'd rather not wield the blade. Oden, however, was strong enough to wield it.

Meanwhile, the Wano conflict was essentially instigated by outside force if her knowledge of Devil Fruit is any indication.

* LadyOfWar: She's beautiful, polite, wears a kimono, and works in a tea house. This hides her true nature as a samurai who can wield a katana with great skill and precision. [[spoiler:She's biologically a male. Although she does consider herself a lady at heart and continues to present as female, so she's still a depiction of the spirit and tone of the trope.]]

A samurai from Land of Wano that the Straw Hats meet on Punk Hazard. He is initially introduced as looking for his lost son, Momonosuke. When he arrived on the island, Trafalgar Law sliced up his body parts (head, torso, and legs), which were then scattered throughout the area. He has eaten the Garb-Garb Fruit (''Fuku Fuku no Mi'') which gives him the ability to create clothes for himself and others, which he erroneously believes is simply "sorcery." Later reveals himself as a retainer to the Kozuki Family posing as Monosuke's father. He's the captain of the Akazaya Nine.
