* DidYouJustFlipOffCthulhu: He publishes an article that ''completely humiliates'' the Big Mom Pirates, without caring about Big Mom's subsequent wrath. He also personally kicks the ass of a ''Cipher Pol'' agent who threatened him on the World Government's behalf to cover up the final results of the Reverie.

* ButtMonkey: After his defeat, Caesar becomes an absolute joke. He's been held hostage by 3 separate pirate groups, had his heart repeatedly pummeled, treated like a flunkey, and pretty much stomped on by virtually everyone. Not that the mad scientist doesn't deserve any of it.

* KarmicButtMonkey: He's a lying, [[KickTheDog dog-kicking]], and arrogant MadScientist who [[BadBoss treats his minions poorly]]. Also, both the Straw Hats and their allies frequently treat him like a tool since his capture, using his disembodied heart as blackmail for any of their demands. It almost makes you forget that he was an ArcVillain.

* EnemyMine: Sort of gets forced into it by Capone Bege, who threatens Caesar with the harm of his disembodied heart to [[spoiler:get him to join his alliance with the Straw Hats against Big Mom]]. Either way though, Caesar happens to have his own grudge with Big Mom anyway.

* HateSink: While he's more of a LoveToHate example, especially as he's used for comedy following the Punk Hazard arc, Caesar is perhaps the most morally bankrupt character in the series. The closest thing to a "good" action he's ever done in his life is when he embezzled money from Big Mom and spent it on groupies and booze.

* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Is it Caesar Clown or Caesar Crown?

* SquishyWizard: Can cause some pretty big explosions with his Devil Fruit and can also remove the oxygen from the air. However, he's otherwise defenseless in close quarters combat against a proficient Haki user, as shown when Luffy just pummels him brutally throughout the Punk Hazard arc whenever he gets close.

* ThrowTheDogABone: See RunningGag above. After having his heart handed over to different parties to make him comply, he ''finally'' got his heart back after [[spoiler:he helped Straw Hat and Bege to escape after wrecking Big Mom's tea party.]]
* TokenEvilTeammate: He becomes one for the Straw Hats under Sanfji in the Zou arc's flashback. He's pretty much coerced by [[BetrayalInsurance Sanji threatening his severed heart.]]

* VillainDecay: In his first appearance, his was very dangerous opponent. But he become weaker and weaker as the story goes. Come ''Totland Arc'' and he's a HarmlessVillain and the biggest [[TheChewToy Chew Toy]] who only aimlessly tries to save his own skin.

** [[spoiler:Uses children to work on a giantification formula (which explains several of the children's huge sizes) knowing the drug will kill them all in five years or so. And when this group of kids dies, he would just go on and kidnap another set to continue his work]].

* WreathedInFlames: Since he's a Gas Logia, he can actually set himself on fire as a form of self-defense and be perfectly fine. [[spoiler:It's how he attempts to avoid being kidnapped by Luffy. [[SuperPersistentPredator Again]]]].
* YouHaveFailedMe: Had this done to Brownbeard after he allowed himself to be captured by the Straw Hats, even though he was incredibly loyal to him. And the elite assassins he sent to kill him? He also showed no remorse after finding out they failed.

* BrokenPedestal: At the beginning of the Punk Hazard arc, he displays UndyingLoyalty to Caesar for saving Brownbeard's life and giving him and the other centaurs a purpose. But upon realizing the horrific experiments Caesar's committing, such as drugging children, Brownbeard's loyalty crumbles and he sides with the Straw Hats.

* AddledAddict: Caesar heinously provided them with drugs disguised as candy and got them addicted to it. The kids start going through withdrawals when they're with the Straw Hats, causing them immense pain and cravings.

* CuteGiant: Caeser's experiments have turned several of the children into pseudo-giants, but they still remain cute and innocent little kids.

* AllMenArePerverts: When Caesar Clown is at Tottoland, Perospero asks him if he finally developed the gigantification formula with the funds he was given. It turns out that Caesa Clown didn't even really use Big Mom's funds for other projects -- he blew through most of it on [[HookersAndBlow alcohol and young female groupies]], which he recalls with a lewd expression on his face]].

* ProudWarriorRaceguy: Elbaf has a warrior culture that emphasizes courage and honor, although not all giants are a fan of Elbaf's culture, with Jaguar D. Saul considering them to be a bunch of savage brutes. After hearing Brogi's tales about giant warriors, Usopp grows [[ForeignCultureFetish to admire]] Elbaf and its warriors.

* BadassTransplant: [[spoiler:With both having lost a limb while being tortured by the Beast Pirates, they've opted to replace their respective missing limbs with weapons by the time they reunite on Onigashima. Cat Viper replaced his lost arm with a barrel gun while Dogstorm replaced his missing leg with a second blade.]]

* AnimalJingoism: Dogstorm and Cat Viper are, respectively, a dog Mink and a cat mink, and they hate each other just like the classical cat-dog rivalry. They become friends again after reminiscing the good time they spent together with Oden.

* PracticallyJoker: He's a {{Sociopath}} with clown-like name and looks.

* StockAnimalDiet: He's an Ape Mink and loves bananas, to the point he would stop attacking an intruder if offered one.

* TheSmurfettePrinciple: She's the only female member of the Guardians.

* DarkAndTroubledPast: She lived on the point of starvation with her mother, then [[spoiler:her mother was killed and she too was hunted. Only the one-legged toy soldier was her friend as they fought to survive under Doflamingo's rule]].

** Becomes a double doozy when it's revealed -- initially to others, not Rebecca herself -- that the Toy Soldier is ''also'' [[spoiler:the legendary gladiator Kyros, who once fought three thousand straight battles without suffering a single hit]]. Rebecca learns of it after all the toys are transformed back and Rebecca regains the memories about her father.

** His ''magnum opus'' is his latest creation, the Shinokuni (Land of Death), a purple gas that kills within seconds of contact, turning its victims into calcified statues.

* BigBadDuumvirate: Sort of. [[spoiler:He shares the BigBad trope with Doflamingo, using the alias of "Joker", was revealed as the one covering Clown's activities from the Marines via Vergo. It seems Doflamingo is very interested in Clown's [[NukeEm extremely]] deadly [[LivingWeapon weapons]] of [[DepopulationBomb mass destruction]] as he sells them to the highest bidder.]]
